DEMENTOR: (worst memory)

When she was five years old, her mother had a miscarriage. Courtney came home from day care and let herself into the house. Her father was still at work and so Court set to work getting herself a snack. She heard a crash come from her parent's bathroom and then loud sobbing. She dropped her snack and ran to try and find out what happened but the door was locked, blood on the handle and the white wood surrounding it. Her mother was inside crying and didn't open the door until her husband came home. Court had absolutely no idea what was happening. This was 2 months before Eric's death.

PATRONUS: (best memory)

Emma was left with her Aunt Elise and Uncle Wesley and their twin sons Michael and Raymond a lot of the time. One day when Emma was 9 and the boys were 17, they spent the day together. Michael and Raymond played more with their wands and trying to learn complicated spells than they played with Emma, but she was totally content to just watch in amazement as they made it snow in the bedroom or levitated her over the bed. It's the first time since her father's death that she really knew that she was with family, that she belonged to someone.

BIRTH:

Courtney Aura Loraine was born on December 30th in Newport, Rhode Island. That's right folks, she was born a US citizen despite the fact both of her parents are London natives. Her parents, Eric and Clio, were on a long holiday to the town where they met. Newport, RI wasn't anything special; didn't house any amazing resort or magical site of high importance. Instead, it was the place that Clio grew up. Eric was there on recommendation from friends because he was getting a little stressed at work.  They met and as Eric says, he knew from the moment he saw her that he was going to marry her one day. It is this belief that he instilled in his daughter: live for your heart.

CHILDHOOD HOME:

Courtney was raised in a small suburb of London, though the address was still London. It was a thin, small town home. The first story was the entry way, kitchen, and one bathroom. The second floor was the location of the living/dining room as well as Court's bedroom. The top level was the master suite and Courtney was rarely allowed up there. The one memorable time she went up to her parent's room was when she was five and her mother had a miscarriage. She sat outside the bathroom listening to her mother cry until Eric came home. Luckily, Courtney's sister Sarah was not home at the time.

BEING RAISED:

Growing up, Courtney knew a very happy life. Her parents were both busy (her mother a teacher for underprivileged kids and often traveling and her father an inventor), but no matter how busy they were they always made time for their daughters. They would work their schedules around their kids, make sure someone would always be home when Courtney and Sarah left for school and came home, made sure they would always have weekends for family dinners and Sundays for church. She had plenty of friends in and out of school, but her favorite people were her parents and of course her sister. She and Sarah were almost inseparable. The only time they were apart was in school because they were not the same age but they always watched out for each other.

FATHER'S DEATH:

Courtney was five years old and Sarah was three. They were both in daycare when it happened. It wasn't any heroic deed or tragic accident in a duel, he just one day died. It was a birth defect that had never been diagnosed which made his heart weak and susceptible to all sorts of diseases. He was 30 years old when he died and it truly crushed the family, especially Clio who had been so completely in love with him.

MOTHER'S DISTANCE:

After Eric's death, Clio became a very different person. She retreated into herself to the point where she was a mere shell. She could barely work and her hours were cut short. For years, she could only sleep and eat. It was clear she couldn't do much to care for her daughters, but they were able to be independent. Many times, they would spend days or even weeks with their aunt and uncle and their twin sons. Eventually, Clio pulled herself together but by that time both of her daughters had gotten their magic and left home for school. Eric was a pureblood and his family didn't hide their magic from the girls, so it was really no surprise when they got invited to Hogwarts.

FIRST LOOK AT MAGIC:

Courtney was 8 years old when she got her first glimpse at her own magic. She was helping her cousins in the kitchen on her birthday when suddenly one of the cabinets flung open and out jumped a wrapped gift. It was so frightening that she ran to her bedroom and didn't come out until her family threatened to eat the cake all by themselves.

HOGWARTS:

She got her Hogwarts letter at precisely 7:42 PM on her birthday. It wasn't frightening to her anymore, the idea of magic, and her mother seemed to agree it was fascinating (though she didn't voice any opinion, she was still in that state of disbelief about Eric's death). For the first year or so, Courtney would send owls home with letters or pictures almost daily. After a while, things got less hectic and the whole family got used to the routine. Courtney even found better friends than she could ever imagine.

When Sarah turned eleven, Courtney was 13 and ready to go into her third year as a Hufflepuff. She looked forward to again sharing a home with her sister, but unfortunately the younger Loraine was sorted into Ravenclaw. Still, the two took care of each other and watched out for the other. They continued to be great friends.
