PERSONALITY:
A wand can say a lot about its wizard. And in the case of Hector Zabini, it can truly give one an insight into the boy's mindset. A sensitive wand,
hazel often reflects its owner’s emotional state, and works best for a
master who understands and can manage their own feelings. A firm believer in balance, Hector allows very few things to disrupt his inner cosmos. He spends little time worrying about exams, potential futures, reputation and tries to live in the moment. That isn't to say Hector isn't serious about his stay in Hogwarts (as many tend to believe) but rather that he does not allow daily troubles to defer him from his ultimate goal. Now, said goal is... unusual, taking into mind his circumstances. Despite the purity of his blood, the uptight society he was forced to endure while growing up and the expectations his parents held for each of their offspring, Hector is much more interested in adventure, in seeing the world and... well, becoming a curse breaker. A sorry excuse of a profession, which would more suit a Weasley some would say, he should follow his father's footsteps and go into Ministry work, those same voices would probably suggest. See, the problem with that is... Hector doesn't much care about politics. He could not be bothered less by either side of the "good" vs. "evil" conflict, that seems to have been plaguing wizardkind for almost eternity. He simply wishes to be something within this world. Become someone, worthy of his own admiration. And boy, will that be a challenge...
If he has taken anything from his rather snobbish upbringing, it's definitely high expectations. Toward himself, mostly, seeing as the people in his life, whom he deems close have been doing nothing but letting him down. Due to his last name and the rather ridiculous reputation that runs with it, Hector has never had a vast amount of friends. Prejudice go both ways and although the heroes of the story are always the ones to have their woes bemoaned and accredited, nobody really looks at the flipside of the coin. One might say that, being Darrius's little brother definitely did something for Hector's popularity and while he was playing along with the bad boy act, everything seemed to work out. Once he lost interest in pretending to be something, which he truthfully isn't, a lot of his peers simply lost interest and began to flock toward his brother even more so than before. Hector was never jealous. Being forever second, he had the opportunity to be whoever and whatever he wished to be. Sometimes, he pitied Darrius - his whole life was marked up for him and he had no leeway. However, the bloody git does deserve everything he gets most of the time.
Many, including himself at one point, might wonder how the laid back Zabini boy was deemed a Slytherin, of all things. Indeed, sometimes his careless daydreaming resembles more a Hufflepuff than anything else, but when crossed, Hector has one hell of a mean streak. It doesn't rear its ugly head very often, so much is true, however, when it does, it leaves people talking for a long while after everything has blown over. There are not many things that can get under Hector's skin but there are certainly few, which can irk him severely. Nobody, apart from himself, is allowed to diss his dysfunctional family. Nobody gets to call Darrius a "stuck up git" or Roque a "drama queen" apart from him. Family is certainly one of the big things in Hector's life and although they can all get on his nerves more often than not with their conceited behavior and their self righteousness, that doesn't change the fact that Hector loves them, all four of them. True, he can barely spend a day around his family without the presence of copious amounts of alcohol, yet, they are his and he is theirs and unless blood finds a way of turning to water, it is staying so for as long as he lives. Although for many, he is simply a "party boy" and a "loose canon", Hector is much more of a family man than both his brothers. Long term, he would love nothing more than to grow old in the company of someone, who can accept him for who he is. Perhaps there in lies his father's greatest and only success in life.
It is a well known fact amongst the professors of Hogwarts that should Hector find the will within himself to open a single textbook, he could be a truly remarkable wizard. Yet laziness and lack of determination always seem to prevent him from extending his horizons and truly enjoying the learning process. While there are some subjects he excels in, such as Potions, Charms, Care for Magical Creatures and Transfiguration, there are also some in which he fails quite miserably. It is common knowledge that his strengths are inherent, "natural talent" if you will, and very little work. Even the ability he has to communicate with wolves is something, which he had since his birth and which he has not taken any further than using to understand his Irish wolfhound, Maximillian. Perhaps he is partially afraid of what could happen should he delve into such obscure matters. After all, nothing good ever came out of any parsletongue now, did it...
It is certainly true that Hector loves a good celebration. Although the rules are quite strict about such things and the surveillance severe, Hector is definitely the man to go to if you with to sneak alcohol into the castle. That is not to say he would do it for anybody, but, if the occasion is worth it, he would do his best to impress. In all honesty, Hector dislikes crowds and much prefers solitude but there is something about strangers that comforts him. After all, if you meet somebody once and are never to speak to them again, you need not lie about who you are, what your life has been, what you want it to be... so in reality, one is always his real self in front of those whom he doesn't know and doesn't associate with regularly. And Hector stands firmly by that maxima - his friends, his closest allies know of him less than a stranger he's met in a seedy bar in the outskirts of Muggle London.

MOTHER: Pansy Zabini (nee Parkinson)
FATHER: Blaise Zabini
SIBLINGS: Darrius Zabini, Roque Zabini
HISTORY:
There is nothing particularly spectacular about Hector's biography. In fact, is there ever anything spectacular about a second child? Many psychologists are arguing on the topic to this day. It can hardly be said that Hector was a hard boiled rebel child from day one. No, he much preferred to live that menial role to Roque, who for some reason wished to differ significantly from the rest of the family. Hector on the other hand abided by his parents's rules for the simple reason that he managed to get away with so much more than his younger brother merely by being the "good" but otherwise unremarkable child. Remarkability was Darrius's forte, to be sure. In all honesty, throughout his life, Hector barely managed to truly connect with any member of his family. Indeed, he feel the purest affection for all of them, however, he could never develop a true bond like the one Roque had with nan Zabini, for example. But there was always understanding. Especially when it came to his relationship to his father, the infamous Blaise Zabini,
Over time, Hector grew to realise that Roque probably had a valid point and that their father was a bit of a coward and more than a bit under the thumb. Making a firm decision to never be caught dead in his shoes (and never getting married to a strong willed powerful woman like his mother), Hector managed to forgive his shortcomings and actually get along with the man. No respect, not really, that was always solely saved for his mother. Understanding. His relationship with his brothers? Well, that was always quite simple seeing as there never was one. Indeed, like most small children they played together and shared toys when they were younger and were generally three well behaved lovely boys. Sometimes, Hector wishes all three of them would take notes from their former selves. Because, although he was never one to inspire a conflict, he never truly made the effort with his brothers either.
The most memorable day of Hector's childhood was the day his father brought home an Irish wolfhound cub. Even though he was just a puppy Max, as Hector later named him, was the size of a fully grown Labrador. Over time, he grew bigger, until he reached his full height of 3ft5inch at the shoulder. Only days after he was given the pup, Hector realised he could actually understand what the animal wanted. It took him several more days to also realise he didn't simply know what Maximillian wanted inately but that he was instead able to communicate with the dog. It was at that point that Max stopped being the family pet and became Hector's dog. His parents did not find out about his ability until much later - no way was Hector going to put himself in the spotlight, however, he also couldn't conceal it forever. Thankfully, although professing their pride and content, his parents soon stopped praising him in favor of something or other Darrius achieved.
What of Hogwarts, you ask? His first footsteps through the heavy doors of the Great Hall are but a faint distant memory in Hector's mind. He was never overly studious and preferred the practical way of learning, which was why he could never get the hang of things like History of Magic and other purely theoretical subjects. Nevertheless, he managed to get decent grades throughout the years and still have a very active social life. Perhaps too active at times. Well, at least he quit Quidditch while he had the chance!
