Anyone who was grouped with Hagrid knew they were going to see a lot of one thing... magical creatures. It was Hagrid's specialty. While he agreed to let them see the museums and all that, Hagrid made sure to arrange as many creature tours as possible. Hagrid had been to Italy before, and had become familiar with many of the creatures that lived there and could not be found anywhere else... or at least almost anywhere else in some cases. Hagrid was mindful to only take the group to where harmless creatures existed. There were plenty of dangerous ones in Italy as there were anywhere else, but Hagrid didn't want to risk the safety of anyone so far from home. Arriving in a small woodsy area in Sperlonga, Hagrid gathered all the students together and made sure they were all collected and accounted for. "Alright, students, I got a real treat for ya today," he said. "We're gonna be lookin' at some magical Eye-talian birds. Now these birds are quite tame, so if we're lucky you'll be able to visit with'em." He then lead them over to an area which featured two of these species. One were beautiful white birds that sat in the trees. The other were large, strange birds that had rooster-like bodies and horse-like heads. Hagrid explained what both were: Bird One: "Now the white birds you see in the trees are called Caladriuses," he said. "These birds have special healin' powers and have been used by both royalty and we common folk to relieve those ill of their ailments. You see, the birds can actually consume the ailment itself and carry it away from the patient and not be harmed by the disease itself in the process." Bird Two: "Now this strange lot you see on the ground here are called Hippalectryons," he said. "They're distant cousins of our own Hippogriffs. However, unlike the Hippogriff, they can be easily tamed and are often domesticated to work on wizard farms." @zach ROSE MINERVA WEASLEY @gisella WALLACE TRISTAN SINCLAIR @cassandrarosier @scorpius DONOVAN RANDAL GREYBACK LOLITA AMELIA TCHAIKOVSKY JAMES SIRIUS POTTER

Donovan was super-excited for the trip, the prospect of seeing a nation that was outside of the UK excited the Gryffindor immensely. And Italy was a great place to start, especially he really enjoyed the food, pasta was radical. This excitement that Don was feeling would be amplified even further by the fact that he'd be on this trip as a part of Hagrid's group.
Most students from Gryffindor were very fond of the half-giant, but Donovan especially enjoyed visiting the man, often dropping by his hut to play with Sniffer, have some of Hagrid's cooking, and possibly see a magical creature or two. And now from what he heard they were headed to see all kinds of magical creatures that were supposed to be specific to Italy.
Donovan was dressed in muggle clothes today, in case they were come upon by muggles, and to better blend in when they were actually in a muggle-inhabited area.
When Hagrid then began speaking, Greyback turned his attention to the groundskeeper. Following the large man, Don looked around, taking in all the scenery, and thinking about the potential for climbing some of the taller trees. He loved woods, for reasons obvious. When they saw the first of the birds, Greyback marveled at it, giving an admiring "oooo" before Hagrid explained.

Italy is way more beautiful than any book could describe it, nothing could be compare to when you see it with your own eyes ain't it?
Following a group with a bunch of other students the mix of different years, Gisella was just glad that she has someone she knows in the group. However many time she said that her cousin is a jerk - which he is - and however unwilling she shown to be around him usually, Gisella felt safe around him and that's no doubt. Wallace the one she grown to trust, he's the one she would call for during an emergency when she needs help. This girl doesn't like to show weakness, doesn't want to appear dependent, but she does found herself depends on Wallace so much she fear the day they will go their separate ways.
When they got down from the Knight Bus on an outskirt, this Ravenclaw found herself while eager to see what Hagrid had planned as a surprise for them, she couldn't help herself not wanting to wander too far from Wallace. Her hand searched for his before she even realize what she was doing, his presence while annoying it is a reassurance towards her in this foreign place.
They followed Hagrid deeper into the wood, Gisella watched around her as they trekked on, having no idea where they are going and silently toying with the idea if they got lost within this place, which should be impossible unless they don't follow the group close enough. And with this fear on her mind that Gisella pulled Wallace along, his slow speed has already put then at the back of the group.
"C'mon Wallace, are you old? Can't you actually walk faster? You're with such long legs some more," As usual the sounds of their bickering sounded out, enough time that they were even dubbed as old couple due to their reaction towards one another. Knowing someone too well, one tends to find annoyance in another's presence. She was sure Wallace won't have any other girls talk to him like that before, ever.
Except her.
"C'mon, if we got lost in this forest I am going to blame you," she told him, tugging on his hand insistently.
Luckily they didn't get lost, but by the time they both reached Hagrid, he was already half way into introducing to the group the two magical birds they were supposed to see on this detour. Gisella pulled Wallace forward to take a closer look, she smiled up at the beautiful white bird on the tree. "Sorry Hagrid, what are they called again?" she asked, eager to learn.

Wallace got off the night bus with his cousin. Gisella was a wonderful who he hated most of his life. His parents always taught him to not like her. She was an abomination in his family. How was he supposed to enjoy her company? Still the two were the same age and had grown up together so there was a familiarity with each other that they had. Almost like siblings. When she managed to kill the man who had never been there in her life he helped hide it. When she got caught she didn't say a word about him helping. He probably would have gotten in a lot more trouble than she had if she had said anything about him.
Being in Hagrid's group was definitely different and he wasn't quite happy that him and Thalia weren't in the same group. This caused him to kind of drag his feet a bit when it came to the sites around Rome. And really there were some better spots than looking at some magical birds. ”C'mon Wallace, are you old? Can't you actually walk faster? You're with such long legs some more.” Wallace looked at her as she pulled him along. ”Move my feet faster? Gisella, what do you want me to do, being pain during this trip? My long legs will get sore from all this walking, I may as well take my time,” he groaned. He then leaned over. ”Besides I can think of better ways to see Italy rather than looking around at some magical creatures,” he whispered into her ear with a wide grin.
Gisella had always been like his older sister. She had this way of telling him off when he didn't even know it. Maybe what some people said was true. They did act like an old married couple always fussing at each other. Even Thalia didn't fuss at him that much, but it was easier to silence Thalia than it was to silence Gisella. With Thalia all he had to do was smile and lean over and give her a kiss and she stopped. Gisella, well he couldn't just do that. Even if she ever thought he was amazing. He highly doubted she did. She told him that she would blame him if they got lost in the forest. ”Oh calm down, if I was going to get lost anywhere, it wouldn't be in this forest, it would be in the middle of Rome with Thalia and we'd never show back up,” he told her with a grin.
Then they reached Hagrid who was introducing some birds and Wallace looked up. Kind of crazy animals. He was pulled up closer to look at them and he shot Gisella a bit of a look. She wouldn't even be here if it weren't for him. He forged his mother's signature and pulled out the galleons from his own saving so his cousin could enjoy it. It was the same thing he'd done when it came to Hogsmeade trips. She still didn't know about that. They still didn't like each other much back then. ”They are... well I prefer the white one, healing powers, maybe a good thing for me to keep around,” he said with a chuckle. He had a disorder that didn't make him feel pain. So if he got injured he didn't know. A bird that could help heal him would save him from having to go to the hospital wing or St. Mungo's during the holidays because he had to be checked out to see if he'd done anything wrong to himself. The problem with such a disorder was that something could have happened and he not realize it. He kept that quiet and he knew Gisella saw it a lot when she was a kid. Priority took hold if he had bumped into something. Well there was a lot to that story. In the end a healing bird would be awesome.

Hagrid smiled at Donovan. It was nice to know that at least one student was paying attention and enjoying the unusual birds. He looked down at the boy and motioned him toward the Hippalectryons. "Go and say hello if you'd like, Donovan," he said. "They're quite used to people bein' out and about. Some might be a little shy about ya at first, but it's highly unlikely one will attack ya."He then noticed Gisella and Wallace having their own conversation while the tour was going on. Hagrid was about to say something to Gisella when she asked about the white birds again. "Caladriuses, Ms. Gisella, Caladriuses," he said. "If you're lucky, one of two of'em will fly down a bit. Always a curious lot, Caladriuses are, especially upon seein' new faces."Hagrid listened to Wallace go on, especially about the Caladriuses and how he preferred them and would like one to have around. "Fraid I'm not permitted to allow you to take a wild Caladrius back to England, Wallace," he said. He then smiled as he had an amusing idea that might teach Wallace a thing or two about interrupting the tour. "But since you are showin' such interest in the animals, I reckon your young Mr. Sinclair would like to have his first Hippalectryon ridin' lesson."Hagrid then walked over and patted Wallace on the back to move him along. "Come along then," he said. "Don't be shy now." Hagrid looked over at Donovan and sneaked him a mischievous look. DONOVAN RANDAL GREYBACK @gisella WALLACE TRISTAN SINCLAIR

Donovan rolled his eyes in exasperation as he heard all of Sinclair's whining about walking, REALLY it wasn't that bad of a walk. And frankly, with all this nature around, how could someone find it within themself to complain about anything with all this beauty all around. He wasn't really keen on the other two who were conducting secondary-social time in general, but frankly there were worse folks to take this tour with.
But the birds were truly astounding, not just the very apparently majestic Hippalectryons, but the Calidruises had a small and adorable appeal. And when Hagrid invited the young man to approach them a spark filled his eyes. Don's face lit up and he nodded excitedly.
Calming himself down, Donovan figured he should get the big and intimidating ones out of the way. It had been explained that the Hippalectryon is not entirely dissimilar from the Hippogriff. Thus, since he wasn't 100% sure of the standard, but apparently less formal, protocol of approaching of these creatures.
Bowing first, Greyback waited for the creature that he was looking upon to acknowledge him and seem to make no moves that would evidence it not wishing him to draw nearer. As there seemed to be no issue on the Hippalectryon's part, Donovan walked towards the beast and slowly stroked his head.
At first the creature reared a bit and took a step or two backwards, but then upon taking another critical look upon the wizard, he drew closer once more and bowed his head slightly to give Donovan access.
As the werewolf set about petting the creature, Donovan looked towards Hagrid and asked, "So they're wild, do they have names then? Or is that not allowed?" He sincerely hoped that they could name the Hippalectryons, but would understand if they couldn't, even them already having something of a name to call them would be preferrable to nothing.
When Hagrid shot his look to Donovan, Don grinned back and nodded, before looking to Wallace and saying, "well c'mon then, he doesn't bite...... I think."

Post by JAMES SIRIUS POTTER on Jan 28, 2014 21:27:28 GMT -5
James wasn't sure why he'd agreed to go on the trip to Italy when his entire being was in pain. James was in such pain that he had to drink a constant flow of potions to keep it at a tolerable level, and that made him so dizzy that he had to be stuck in a wheelchair in order to avoid collapsing from exhaustion. The good part about the trip, though, was that he was in Hagrid's group. The bad part? The worst part? The part that drove him to the brink of alcoholism?
Rose and Scorpius were in his group.
He sighed as he pushed his wheelchair forward, wondering why the bloody hell Hagrid would pick a woodsy part of Italy to venture when he could see that James was probably not up to it. But because James might need assistant pushing his chair and things like that, Hagrid took it upon himself to have James at his hip the whole time. This meant that James kept up with Hagrid the entire time that they ventured into the wooded area of Sperlonga. He sighed as he came to a stop in front of Hagrid and heard the crunching of hard grass underneath the feet of the other students. James looked down into his lap as Hagrid went on about the birds they were discovering. James lifted his head to look at the specimens but kept to himself, looking back only when someone apologized for not hearing what Hagrid had said. His eyes fell onto a girl that he'd never even known existed, and he immediately cursed himself for having graduated from Hogwarts. She was obviously a little younger and probably staying at Hogwarts the next years. But man, she was beautiful.
James felt foolish in that stupid chair and definitely did not feel like any girl would think it was a turn-on. Instead of sending a cool line her way, he quickly turned back around in order to avoid not only embarrassment, but Rose and Scorpius, as well.

Hagrid raised his eyebrows a bit when Donovan asked about the names. "Reckon I don't see no harm in givin'em names if you'd like, Donovan," he said. "Reckon one as clever as you would give'em some fine ones."
Hagrid pushed Wallace on a bit more toward the Hippalectryons, then turned to notice James. What he saw broke his old, stout heart. He loved the Potters and the Weasleys as if they were his own family. To see one of them in such a condition was almost too much to bear. He left the others to look at the creatures and visit with them a bit and stepped over to James, giving him a warm smile behind his thick beard. "One of the many things I loved about your dear old dad is how he'd find himself in the most nasty situations, and would come out of'em clean as a dragon's tooth," he said. "Remarkable man, your dad, James. And every time I look at ya, I see so much of your old dad in ya. You're gonna rise up outta this, lad, and be better for it and I'll wager a week's galleons on that. And anything ya need from ole Hagrid, don't you hesitate a minute to ask, not one minute." He then chuckled. "Watchin' your young Mr. Sinclair over there reminds me of the time your dad had his first Hippogriff ride. Why don't we watch'em and see if it gets a bit of a smile out of ya?"JAMES SIRIUS POTTER DONOVAN RANDAL GREYBACK @gisella WALLACE TRISTAN SINCLAIR

It was almost like a second nature taking care of Wallace, that although he was born months before herself, him growing up being protected - more like spoiled - by his family had also given him this strange, naive personalities, that most of the time, he would acts more like a kid than an actual sixteen years old teenager. It was much different than Gisella who was taught to see the world from the raw, unfiltered side. It always makes them a good contrast, and due to that she always take on the role to take care of him, to fuss over him even though he made it clear he needed no one to fuss him about.
Raising an eyebrow at his reply, Gisella made a move to pinch him on his arm, not too hard of course, "Is that hurting you?" she asked, knowing his condition to not feel pain, "I don't think so. So your argument about being in pain isn't valid here." She hooked onto his arm, tried to march them forward, though of course, if Gisella ever learn her lesson after being around Wallace for so long she would know that no one can force him into doing anything he doesn't want to. The boy took the chance to lean closer to her instead, and whispered into her ear, words that made the girl raised her eyebrow even higher. "Really Wallace?" that this time round she couldn't keep the sarcasm from her voice even if she tried, and it reflected on her facial expression as well. She pulled up a sweet smile, "You've been thinking about naked woman on the beach so early in the morning?"
This is perhaps one side of Gisella no one else ever see. Just like a normal teenager, filled with little poisonous remarks and sarcastic little jokes, it is the only way she knows how to talk to Wallace ever since their conversation grown more than "Can you bring me more food?" and "Yes Wallace". The two kids had learned how to be around each other after yeas and years living under the same roof, and he grown to be one familiarity that she feel comfortable being around, and the only male she would allow being so close to herself without getting seized by a sudden panic attack. Gisella had has some sort of phobia when it comes to another male's presence, left by her childhood trauma she has not tell a living soul.
As days passed that her smile were still innocent, and her eyes twinkles bright, no one ever suspected her discomfort, no one care enough to ever ask about her story. It is good, it suits her well, Gisella needs no one pitying her.
"I know you must have all this big plans to spend time with Thalia, but she had told me to take care of you so i am just doing my duty here. And anyway, think about it this way, cousin, that the faster you walk, the earlier we can all go back to the hotel, and the earlier you can sneak out with Thalia and get yourself lost in the busy streets of Rome. It sounds good?" It really isn't easy, negotiating with Wallace. And of course, Gisella isn't quite looking forward to go back to hotel, seeing who is currently sharing a room with her.
Without even thinking of doing it, Gisella turned to look at two graduates she's making sacrifices to, the Malfoy boy was giving Rose a piggy back through the woods, how thoughtful. Rose is do lucky to have a boyfriend like him.
She's not jealous, not really, though a part of her wished for someone who take care of her like that, no one wanted to be along forever. She had a smile on her face when she stares at them, lost in thoughts.
The sacrifices is worth it."
When they finally caught up, Gisella had caught up with the urge to learn too almost immediately. It is a rare chance to see some of these magical creatures up close and she assumed half of these boys and girls here doesn't even appreciate it as much as they should have. Like, look at Wallace here. But this isn't about him, this is about the Caladriuses, and the Hippalectryons.
At Hagrid encouragement, Gisella gingerly took a step nearer, on her face a bright smile as she look up at those birds, they are so beautiful. She raised an eyebrow at Wallace's words when he talks about taking one of them back to England, to her it isn't hard to understand why he would want one, for a boy who doesn't even know he hurt himself when he does, having a Caladriuses around would certainly be useful.
But of course, she knows Hagrid's answer, Gisella grinned.
Which was quickly wiped off her face when she heard the chaperone's next suggestion.
By the time the Greyback boy added in his comment about the animal biting, Gisella's face went completely pale now, her one hand gripping tight on Wallace's shaking her head softly asking him to say no. No one else know of his condition, and the tricky part is to always keep it a secret; the Sinclairs wants no one knows about this in case people would think Wallace as a freak. She just watched Wallace being pushed forward and could do nothing about it. A frown furrowed deep in between her eyebrows.
Don't get yourself hurt, she silently begging Wallace so.

”What if it did hurt though, you just made an attempt to hurt your sweet cousin, my argument of being in pain is completely valid, just because I can't feel doesn't mean it's not there, my leg could be falling off at the moment for all I know,” he chuckled. This was said of course quietly. He knew better than to say anything. He looked down at his leg out of habit just to make sure. He rolled his eyes as she spoke about the naked woman on the beach. ”Well no, I was talking about wandering through Rome with Thalia, how could her and I not be put into the same group?” he asked. She did have a point whens he told him that the faster he walked the sooner they got back to the hotel and then could go off and see Thalia alone in Rome. That would be worth it. She was right. ”I think I'll play sick tomorrow and convince her to as well,” he whispered to Gisella.
Wallace was kind of caught as the deer in the headlights when Hagrid told him to come on up. Hagrid's hand had patted him on the back and he looked over at Gisella. If there was one thing that Wallace was good at was pretending that he didn't care much about the danger at all. Sure if it was something like hopping on a dragon he wouldn't be stupid but this was a bird. A large bird but a bird none the less. Hagrid did say they were easier to tame than a hippogriff though so he wasn't too worried about it.
Gisella's hand had clenched onto his. She shook her head no. But if he didn't do it they would think that he was a coward. He wasn't going to be thought of as a coward. He looked at Gisella's face and tapped her hand lightly telling her that he'd be fine. He let go and made his way up towards the creature. The younger Gryffindor student decided to make a little bit of a joke as Wallace walked up. Saying that it didn't bite or at least he didn't think so. Wallace didn't deem it necessary to comment, if he had he would have said something that he didn't want to. He couldn't let people know that he was weird. He couldn't get hurt or people would know. He'd have to be completely aware because if the thing scratched him he could be in danger of not reacting properly. He knew how to react but it was catching everything perfectly if anything happened.
”So, do I just get on the creature or do I have to do some bowing like you do with a hippogriff?” he asked Hagrid. He'd be fine if he listened to exactly what Hagrid had to say. He had to actually focus now.

Hagrid was loving this. One reason he was without guilt was that the creatures were so tame. Even the wild ones were harmless and used to being around people. Several students were already petting them. With a laugh, he stepped over to Wallace and patted him on the shoulder. "Well bow all ya like if you want the Hippalectryon to stand there and look at ya like you're an arse," he said. "'Course you can get on him. They don't even run all that fast, and won't even be able to fly under your weight. Now go on then and hop on."Hagrid had nothing against Wallace. All in all, Wallace was a good lad. This was just Hagrid having a bit of fun. More importantly, he was trying his best to cheer James up a bit. A good laugh was what James needed, even if it was at the expense of someone else. Still, Hagrid was right as his usually was concerning magical creatures. The horse-headed foul would react a bit at first and then probably go about its business with Wallace on his back. Even if it bucked him off, the fall wouldn't be that bad and Hagrid would be at the ready to catch him. @gisella WALLACE TRISTAN SINCLAIR DONOVAN RANDAL GREYBACK JAMES SIRIUS POTTER
