Magic. Was there anything that it couldn't make awesome?
This was the thought of one Donovan Greyback as he had wandered throughout Diagon Alley, marvelling at the numerous things there were to behold. The windows of various establishments filled with something cool and unique. At least, that's how it appeared to the muggle-reared wizard, it was more than likely that everything out here seemed mundane to fellow passerby and weren't entirely impressed by any of it. Regardless of that, Donovan had come to Diagon for a purpose.
After some talking to his mum, Roxy's mum had managed to convince his own that he would just be fine occasionally paying the Weasely family a visit for dinner and other such things. Being a muggleborn, Roxanne's mother seemed to know just how to put it so that she sounded sane to Diana McCalaghan, and convince her that the boy would be safe when visiting them.
So this morning, Don hopped on his broomstick and headed towards London. After landing in the city's outskirts, the werewolf made his way from there to the Leaky Cauldron, and then eventually he found himself among the crowded street. There were still a few hours left before Donovan would have to find where Roxy lived and go meet the Weasleys, so now he decided to take it upon himself to enjoy some one-on-one time with the place.
After about half an hour of that, Greyback figured it time to drop by Florean's for a snack, he'd seen some of the stuff that came out of there and he imagined it was far better than a DQ Blizzard. And this was a considerable thought considering that Donovan's favorite snacks was the soft-serve ice cream that would probably give him some type of crazy stomach cancer when he got old and grey. Not just his back either. Heh, inner-monologue wordplay.
Inside the store, Don accepted a sundae with chocolate and all kinds of nonsense on it from the person manning the counter, exchanging an handful of silver sickles and receiving a few bronze knuts in return.
Turning around with his tray in hand, Donovan didn't think to pay enough attention and failed to realize another person may be behind him. His fault, as now Greyback was met with a bowl of freezing cold ice cream to his chest. "AUGH!!" The dark-haired man roared out in pain as the shiver-inducing concoction met his shirt and seeped onto the skin of his chest.

Honestly, the amount of times that Lily tended to get lost in a crowd. It was outrageous. When she went out in public, she needed to remember that her dad was famous. It meant taking trips with him and the rest of the family to Diagon Alley…not nearly as fun as it would have been had their family been normal or something silly like that. Still, if Lily went alone, she had a better chance of finding everything she was looking for before the press started mobbing her and asking her questions she had no idea how to answer. The entire family was supposed to meet later on, if everything went on alright. She supposed that the Potter and Weasley families were extremely lucky that they had maintained such an excellent relationship with the Longbottoms. Otherwise, she doubted very much that they would have been able to reserve such a large amount of tables from the Leaky Cauldron.
She had been walking with Louis, actually. For once, their usual third partner – Hugo – was missing. Something had been up with both of them, but she hadn’t been able to tell just what it was. She had been trying to tell them both that they could tell her if they wanted to. They could tell her because they had been together since diapers. They’d all lost a tooth at nearly the same time, they’d all splattered mud in each other’s faces. They’d all survived their crazy, insane family together. That they kept something that was bugging them from her hurt her more than she thought it would. Lily had just been about to ask Louis what was going on with him when they hit a part of Diagon Alley that was filled to the brim with people. Try as she might, she had lost sight of her taller cousin and had gotten lost in the crowd. She’d eventually gotten tired of trying to navigate through it all, so she decided to grab some ice cream.
Though she was dressed in athletic clothes, she was going to have some sweets. It wasn’t a well-kept secret that Lily Potter loved sweets. If she had to guess, she’d say that she had gotten it from her dad. It hadn’t been her fault that he had spoiled all of them. And, if it wasn’t her father’s fault, than it was definitely her grandfather’s. He gave them more sweets than should have been allowed. It was a wonder she didn’t weigh over three hundred kilos! She knew that, eventually, her cousins would find her. Then, she could give them a proper scolding for abandoning her. Although, if she had to think about it, she knew that she shouldn’t have gotten all that offended. She certainly wasn’t surprised. The amount of times that this happened to her was kind of ungodly. “Merlin!” Her eyes widened, and her hand shot outward in an attempt to keep the guy who was standing in front of her from crashing into her.
She recognized his face almost immediately, even if she wasn’t entirely sure what his name was. He was in Gryffindor – the year below her, if she had her facts straight. Since befriending Matt, she hadn’t really made a habit of talking to the others that were. She was kind of afraid that what had happened there was going to happen again, and so she stayed away. “I’m sorry!” She reached forward hesitantly. “Sorry! Really, really sorry!”

"Ahhhh!" Donovan let out another long drawn out sigh in pain, the shocking cold now starting to ebb away as his body heat began doing its work of righting the situation biologically. He then reached for a napkin from the nearby dispenser and scooped a considerable amount of the stuff off his front, shaking his head with something of a grin, as the white and brown ice cream was juxtaposed strongly to the black fabric.
Shaking his head a bit more, Don then answered, "no, no," his Irish accent pretty distinct, even after spending a school year with Scottish and English kids, "I shoulda watched where I was going." He then looked up and saw the person with who he had collided.
Eventually, the wiping worked, and the only memory of what had previously been an ice cold sugary assault of frozen cream was....... A very cold stain on a shirt that was thankfully plain and black already.
"Uhhh..... Lily right?" Greyback then asked still smiling even after all of that. "Seen you around, name's Donovan." Extending his hand to shake hers, he'd seen the girl hanging around Matthew Johanson from his year, but he wasn't even that close to the other young man. Usually Donovan was hanging around Hagrid at the campus or off doing his own things.
After the meetings and greetings, Don then began to turn around, motioning with his head towards the counter again, "come on, I'll buy." He figured it was what would be right to do, considering that he'd frightened the poor girl, and the fact that she was so nice and apologized was a bit more than Donovan had come to expect from people. "Uhhh, what do you like?" He asked as the clerk looked at him expecting an order.
At about this time, Mickey peaked his head out of the pocket opposite to the one that had the wand stowed in it, and glared up at Donovan. Climbing his way up the fabric of Don's shirt, Mickey made his way to a perch on shoulder and started yelling at his owner. "Why with all the shouting?! Can't a mouse just get a little nap in the middle of the day without you getting yourself killed?" Followed by a few more rather sailorish remarks that would have been a bit too mature for translation. To everyone who heard the mouse, though, it simply sounded like a lot of rapid squeaking.
Looking at his friend, Donovan simply answered, "oh quiet you," to the mouse, not really wanting to get shouted at in front of the pretty red-haired girl.

Oh, Merlin. Oh, Merlin. Oh, Merlin. He had screamed. She winced a little at the sudden loud. Although, she knew that she really couldn’t complain. She would have had no right to do so. In his situation, she was pretty sure that she would have screamed as well. She would have freaked out and, realistically, she might have performed magic. It would have been accidental, but she had a prone to doing that. Even when she was little, if Albus and James somehow got her into a situation she wasn’t happy with, she always managed to turn it around and make it something worth laughing over. She was pretty sure that she was going to have to try that on the situation she was in right now, mostly because the poor boy in front of her had his shirt drenched in ice cream. She was pretty sure it was still wet and cold, and so she was a little surprised to find that he was smiling at her.
And, though he was familiar, Lily couldn’t place his name. She had gone through her mind and through the faces of everyone she knew. She knew for a fact that he was familiar. She had to have at least met him somewhere before, right? Although, as she thought about it, the chances that she had were decreasing at almost an alarming rate. Yet, cheerfully, she noted that he knew her name. She tried not to roll her eyes or be too put off about it. Almost everyone knew her name. She didn’t blame her mum or her dad or her aunts or her uncles for being famous, but she wished that she had grown up being unknown. She hated being thrown in the limelight. She hated it less than her brothers did, but she still disliked it with a passion. Hopefully, their celebrity status would all fade away by the time she was a working woman. If not, than she was at least lucky that America might be a little more sympathetic to her cause. She still hadn’t brought it up to either of her parents that she had wanted to travel overseas for a brief amount of time to work as a psychologist.
Still, the redhead blinked after him a little in shock before nodding her head with what he said. “Er – yes. Lily Potter. It’s a pleasure to meet you…?” She trailed off and looked at him expectantly, almost waiting for him to fill in the blank with his name. She felt awful about it, she did. She disliked that he had offered to pay for her when she had been the reason that his ice cream had crashed into his shirt. If anything, she should have been the one to buy. And, if he was going to be one of those guys who hated it when the girls paid…! Then she would show him a lesson, but she couldn’t let her brain get ahead of her. She flushed a light shade of red and shook her head repeatedly. “You don’t need to pay for me. I probably owe you, so, here. My treat.” Her voice was probably a little too firm, and her eyes flashed with emotion to let him signal that if he turned down her offer, there would be hell to pay. A female Weasley’s temper was famous; Lily might have been a Potter by name, but the blood of her mother’s ancestor’s was in her veins. If he disagreed with her, he probably would dislike the outcome.
“Oh!” Lily exclaimed, eyes widening in surprise at the little mouse that had peeked up out of the boy’s shoulders. Most girls would have been frightened, but Lily had grew up outside. She loved to run, and she wasn’t a stranger to animals. She might not have been able to speak to them, but Finny Longbottom had, and Fin was one of her best girl friends. “Hello there, little guy.”

"Oh," Donovan said, feeling a bit goofy now at forgetting to introduce himself, "Donovan Greyback, I'm friends with Rox." Since he figured that Lily didn't recognize him, the wizard figured it was necessary to explain how the knowledge of her name came to him. It wasn't as if Don was raised like other wizards and witches, knowing all about Harry Potter and his exploits, he didn't hear about all that until actually getting to the school.
It was a bit off-putting do Don to have someone turn down free ice cream, even more-so to offer ice cream herself. Naturally, Donovan wouldn't himself turn down the offer, but that didn't mean he wouldn't attempt a little bit at some resistance. With an expression on his face that showed a little bit of reluctance, Greyback asked "Oof, you're probably not gonna let me pay for you, eh?" Before smiling and, with a shrug, continued, "alright, if you say so, Lily."
Donovan had the natural Irish temper, himself, but wasn't nearly as stubborn as his own mum, thus it was easy for him to give up the non-argumentative argument. After conceding to the girl, Don flinched violently when he heard the mouse shouting in his ear. What came across as middle-volume squeaks to a normal person, translated into fairly loud exclamations to the wizard.
"Don't you know it's rude to wake a mouse up while he naps?!" Mickey continued scolding, appearing to others like the rodent simply continued chattering without cease.
Donovan then looked towards Mickey and gave him a stern look. "Well next time, YOU get doused in a frozen semi-solids and bounce right back from it." Clearly not grateful for being shouted at.
"Oh stuff it you lummox!" The mouse then retorted, nipping angrily at the nearest spot of exposed skin on the werewolf that Mickey could reach for. Rolling his eyes sarcastically, Donovan scooped the familiar into his hand, and rested the small creature in the center of his palm.
Smiling as he looked back to Lily, clearly finished arguing with the crotchety old mouse, Greyback introduced him. "Mickey, the mouse. Not to be confused with Mickey Mouse, obviously." Holding the rodent near Potter, but not too near in case that she didn't wish to actually come in contact with his littlest friend.
"You can hold him if you want." The werewolf offered, shrugging as the mouse glared at him. "He's a lot more rude than he is mean, he doesn't bite." Mickey barely liked being held even by his favorite mode of transportation, he was even less fond of strangers holding or carrying him, but there were a number of exceptions that Mickey made. And frankly, the small mammal was still a bit too tired to put up an argument at the moment.
