HISTORY:
Chen Lee's parents were never the luckiest of sorts. Heck, his father always told him that the only bit of luck between the two of them they'd ever had was meeting eachother. Meeting in the Northern Province Academy of Sorcery, Jason, an immigrant student, and Sakura fell head over heels in their last year at the school. While never marrying in any legal capacity, they remained in an informal marriage and travelled with one another around the world.
Of course, the pair ran into a bit of foul luck when reaching the UK when they had been mugged. Unable to use magic to rectify their situation, the couple decided that it was fate's way of giving them a message, that Scottland was the right place for them.
Each found a job in a shop and quickly began starting their life together in the new nation. Within the year, Sakura was with child and their son Lee was born. And it seemed like the three would live a happy life together, in Scottland. But the young woman was soon struck with an illness that was simply caught too late for the healers at St. Mungo's to fix. And before Lee was even seven his mother had passed on.
Going on to Hogwarts, Lee had always kept an optimistic perspective on things, using his mother's last name and his own first interchangeably. Sorted into Ravenclaw house, it seemed that Lee was plagued by the same run of terrible luck which had always followed his parents. But, the boy saw what the Sorting Hat had as a way of saying he'd make his own luck through life.
Becoming dedicated in whatever he did, Lee quickly became a high-mark student and a skilled artist, something not commonly seen in Ravenclaw house. Chen managed to make a small number of friends through shared interests, but doesn't really often venture from this small circle. A few students who don't know Lee think his fascinations with parts of muggle culture "weird" and combined with his naturally eccentric nature, certain students go so far as to believe him crazy. But maybe, he's just crazy like a fox.
