HISTORY: Tristan Chadwick was born the only child of Theophilus and Jeanette Chadwick. Theo was a famous healer at St Mungos, and became the director of the hospital after a long career there. During his career he often had to stay very late at the hospital and a lot of the raising of Tristan was left to Jeanette. Tristan loved his father but rarely got much time with him. When he did, he learned a lot about healing and medicine from his father, as he wasn't very used to what to do with children as Jeanette had done most of the raising of their son.
Tristan received his letter to Hogwarts as was expected, and was sorted into Ravenclaw house which suited his intelligence and drive to be the best. He had seen his father push himself hard to be the best healer he could be, and this rubbed off very much on Tristan. Throughout his time at Hogwarts he studied very hard, and from encouragement from his father and his own drive, he greatly desired to become a famous healer in his own right.
It was during his fifth year when he met Athenia. She was a Ravenclaw in the year below him. He was interested in her for over a year before she finally decided to go out with him, but after that they were sweethearts and went on to get married when he was nineteen and she was eighteen. At this stage, Tristan had received a prestigious scholarship for a Healer traineeship, getting on the path early to reaching the highest level of magical surgery.
He and Athenia had their first child, Aqua Jane, the next year. They had another child each two years - Adrian two years later, Arista two years after that, and Alana and Alphonse (the twins) two years after that. By the time Arista was born, Tristan was considered one of the most gifted young surgeons St. Mungos had ever seen, and he was given most of the higher profile surgeries in the areas of spell damage and creature-induced injuries. This meant that Tristan had very little time at home, like his father had before him, and so he didn't have a large part to play in the raising of his children. This definitely didn't mean that he didn't love them - he very much loves all of his children, he just wasn't around very much when they were young.
Five years after the birth of Alana and Alphonse, Tristan and Athenia had another daughter, Ariel. By this stage Tristan had reached the peak of his career, and was often on call for emergency surgeries. Athenia had to hire a nanny to help with looking after the kids. The nanny taught the kids from a young age to be well versed in etiquette and the proper way of acting. The family also had two house-elves with helped with things around the house.
This went on for a while, and most of his kids grew up and moved out of home. Tristan still knew his kids, of course, but wasn't anywhere near as close to them as their mother Athenia was. He was very proud when his eldest two children got married a couple of years apart from each other.
By the time Ariel graduated and moved in with her boyfriend at the time, Tristan had taken a role as Hospital Director at St. Mungos which gave him a little more time, as he wasn't always being called for surgeries. He still got called for them on occasion, but this became somewhat rarer, and he was now somewhat of a figurehead and decision-maker for the overall hospital. This gave him more flexibility and time to spend with his wife and with his children, although they had now all moved out of home.
However, later that year, just before Christmas, his wife Athenia was mysteriously murdered in their home. This absolutely shattered Tristan's world. He had just gotten to the point where he could spend more time at home and enjoy the life that they had set up together, and then she was taken from him. Grief overtook him and he had to pull out of his job at the time as he grieved. The grief is still very raw for him, and he is seeking to spend a lot more time with his children as he prepares to get back into his job at some stage.
