Cavalyn Dee Haviland, a bit of a silly girl with a bit of a silly full name, was quite the enigma. This was not only because she could turn into a Mongoose, but also because the cheeky little Hufflepuff alumni had decided several years before that she wanted to be an Auror of all things. Strangely enough, it was her Muggle father Alex Haviland who backed her in the decision, while her witch mother, Jennlyn Haviland, felt she was better suited to be a Professor or Shopowner... something a bit less dangerous anyway Alex argued that if Cavalyn had magical abilities, she needed to use them to help others in need. Jennlyn finally warmed up to the notion, though warned Cavalyn what she was getting into. Her daughter seemed to understand.
At Hogwarts, Cavalyn was your typical Puff- loyal to her friends, hard-working, and adorable. Few there thought she'd make it as an Auror. The other students, even those in her own House, didn't believe she was tough enough for such a job. Minds began to change one day when a large Slytherin student was bullying a friend of hers. Cavalyn got in the bully's face, gave him an icy stare, and whispered something to him that caused the bully to back away and never bother her friend again. To this day, no one but the two knew what Cavalyn said, but it certainly showed she could hold her own to those who witnessed the confrontation.
There weren't that many more confrontations at the school after that. Cavalyn focused on her studies and working with her Animagus ability to become a mongoose, an animal which of course was known for battling snakes. She did well in her courses and graduated on time. And from there, her life really began and her dream was about to come true.
So here she was in the present... walking into Knockturn Alley with a full Auror. The department had heard that a handful of dark wizards were up to no good there, which was no big surprise. Looking as sweet and mousy as usual behind the Auror, she looked up at him and whispered.
"Sure is spooky in Knockturn, isn't it?" she said.
"Yes, and we must keep quiet," whispered the Auror back.
"Oh... sorry," giggled Cavalyn. The Auror rolled his eyes. He began to wonder why Cavalyn had chosen this profession himself.
As they moved in deeper into the Alley, they saw a collection of Dark Wizards gathered. The Auror approached them. Though he only planned to ask questions, he had his wand at the ready.
"Oh... right," giggled Cavalyn as she pulled out her own wand. "Might help to have that out." The Auror turned and gave her a final look before turning back to the dark wizards. The dark wizard spotted them too, and before a word could be uttered, the fight began. The dark wizards attempted to hit curses at the full Auror, but they were deflected. Cavalyn "eeped" as they tried to do the same to her, but she managed to use her training to deflect as well. Sadly, the two soon found themselves backed into a corner. Things only got worse when the Auror was hit in the arm with a bone-breaking curse. As Cavalyn saw this mentor and friend hurt, her gentle face suddenly turned of one of anger. Hurt her friends and Cavalyn Dee Haviland got royally pissed off. With a wide-eyed look on her face, she aimed her wand at the villains and went nuts.
"STUPEFY! STUPEFY! STUPEFY!" she shouted, knocking them down one at a time. One tried to catch her off guard, but in a flash she yelled, "EXPELLIARMUS! STUPEFY!" The Dark Wizard's wand was removed and he was brought down too. Cavalyn then stepped over to one who tried to rise and kept him back down by aiming her wand at him and giving him the same look that she gave the Slytherin that day at Hogwarts.
"Make one move and I tranfigurate your butt into a half-crazed chicken, you ugly son of a dark witch!" As more Aurors showed up to apprehend the dark wizards, Cavalyn turned back and beamed at her own Auror.
"Did I do okay?" she asked. The Auror was still staring at her in awe.
"........Yes..... you did..... very well, Cavalyn," he finally said. "Very well."
"Cool," giggled Cavalyn as she followed the Auror to help him gather up the dark wizards.
