HISTORY:
Feryn Margo Avery was born on August 15th, 2006, to Kristen Johnson and Lucas Avery. She was unexpected and the couple's last child that they gave birth to. While she was unexpected to them, they absolutely adored her. Feryn, unlike her siblings, was the only one of the family who had Petunia Avery's fiery red hair. Petunia was the great-grandmother to Lucas and, although deceased, was remembered dearly through family photographs. While little significance was thought of in respect to the red hair of Feryn, it would later serve as a reminder of just how different Feryn was from her parents and her siblings.
The Avery's are an old Pureblood family and, as such, they uphold certain old traditions. Elitist values were instilled into the Avery children as they grew up in the old manor on the hill. Feryn's intelligent mind, however, overcame these ideals. Even as a child she was brilliant, and she couldn't comprehend why they needed to have prejudice against Muggle-borns. She didn't see anything wrong with them, really. For a short while she believed her parents, though her intelligent thoughts lurked in the back of her mind. That was, until the day she met a certain boy in Diagon Alley. Her mother was busy chatting away with one of her friends and Feryn walked off, finding herself in the company of a boy named Quinn. Quinn and Feryn were getting along splendidly when her mother found her and, knowing the boy came from a Muggle-born family, immediately ceased their conversation. Upon returning home, Feryn was abused for knowingly talking with a Muggle-born.
It was this occurrence at the age of six that transformed Feryn into truly, psychologically different from her family. She learned in that instant that if she was going to survive in her home she had to pretend to take on the same ideals as her family - and she did. When she went to Hogwarts at age eleven, Feryn was sorted into Ravenclaw for her intelligence and finally found a place she could call home. She was separated from her entire family and found peaceful isolation. It wasn't until her second year that she allowed herself to branch out and trust other people. It was also in her second year that she ran into Quinn once again; the boy was in the same year as herself and a Gryffindor, and the pair immediately found friendship in each other.
Through the summers, Feryn pretended to be a part of her family as best she could. At school, if she ran into her siblings (whom she tried to avoid) then she found it easy to pretend to be of similar ideal. However, when Feryn was in her fourth year, things became...difficult. While walking across the lawn near the Whomping Willow with Quinn, Piper and her friends came into view. Feryn tried to think on her feet of a way out of the coming confrontation but, unfortunately, it was too late. She'd been spotted and figured out, and Piper was not happy about it. Feryn decided then that she had to stand up for herself - to prove her bravery. She defended her friendship with Quinn, the Muggle-born, and was strongly punished for it. Piper shoved Feryn near the Whomping Willow and cast Incarcerous on her, leaving her for dead. Thankfully a Professor came by and saved her, leaving Feryn with a very lucky broken arm.
While Piper was punished for it, Feryn was punished when she returned home in the worst possible way. The summer after her fourth year brought Feryn a near-starvation episode and she was locked in her room. Feryn became ill from malnutrition and very nearly needed to be taken to St. Mungo's - at least, til her parents realized her condition and began to feed her enough to get her strength back. Since then Feryn knew she was truly alone in the world and needed to escape the madness her family held onto.
Unfortunately, her parents only tried to draw her further into it. At the end of her fifth year they promised her betrothal to [insert name here], a Pureblooded Slytherin. Feryn refused her parents but they simply will not take no for an answer. Now going into her seventh year of school, Feryn is sure that at the end of the year, she will have to run away and never see her parents again in order to avoid actually marrying the idiot Slytherin boy that she's supposedly 'engaged' to. Feryn sees herself as completely free from any obligations and has said multiple times to the boy that she will not marry him and he, like her parents, deject her. Feryn is quite sure she is going to have to lose everyone in her life in order to have a life, but she hopes it won't come to that.
