HISTORY:
In the remote Assynt Peninsula, The Highlands, Scotland, there sits a very small village of roughly 100 people at best. Once there was a king - King Henry Richard Crawford and his lovely wife, Eva Analise. And 'once' sometimes feels like an awful long time, but in the village of the Assynt, it was merely eighteen years ago. When Eva Analise gave birth to Nora Helene, her frail body was unable to take an unexpected hitch in the delivery process and, consequently, Queen Eva died. Nora, just a small and fragile baby herself, came under the care of her father. Henry absolutely loved his daughter and there was no doubt about that - he loved her and Eva with all of his heart. However, being a king and the sole carer of a newborn did not exactly go hand in hand. Knowing that his daughter would need someone to care for her, he took in the beautiful Caline Serah Fredericks. She was seemingly kind and helped the other maids in the house take care of Nora, becoming her primary caretaker as the king took to his duties.
It was only a matter of time - four years in fact - that King Henry Richard fell in love with Caline and all she did for his daughter. It was then, when Nora was four, that Henry asked Caline's hand in marriage. Of course she accepted, for no one refused the king, and the village of Assynt seemed to bloom. Happiness was everywhere and Nora took refuge in it. Just a child, she looked up to Caline as her mother. Although Nora knew that Caline was not her real mother, she was the woman who raised her and was with her every single day. Nora was grateful that Caline was there for her - she was, inherently, her mother.
Nora, nor the village, would have suspected that Caline was actually bad. When King Henry dropped dead when Nora was eight, everyone assumed it was due to an unforeseen illness. Nora was heartbroken and she sobbed at her father's deathbed as she said goodbye to him. His funeral was held two days later and that was when the true Caline came to light.
Caline began declaring new laws of their village to include curfews, honoring her, and other insane things that the villagers did not accept. The suspicions of Caline having more and more to do with the death of their king grew, but of course there was nothing that the village could do. Caline was the Queen of the Assynt - and by the law, Nora could not take her place until she was at least twenty years old, despite that being older than the legal age of the country. Being in a remote village meant they were able to instate certain rules that applied simply to their village, and Caline took advantage of that.
When Nora received her Hogwarts letter, it was a shock. There were only two other wizards from their village that had ever gone away to school and it was horrible timing. As an eleven year old, although she was treated as a prisoner in her own home, Nora did not want to leave the village. The Assynt was all she ever knew and the people there were her family. She was sticking by them and assuring them things would change when she became Queen - leaving left a crack in her plans. Still, Nora promised to return every Christmas and summer to look after the villagers, hoping that Queen Caline didn't ruin them in the process.
Nora went to school hesitantly, but she soon found herself loving the old castle. She was sorted into Gryffindor which is no surprise if you know her personality. Nora, after having been through all that she has, is a brave soul and stands up for what is right. Nora made sound friends in her house and of other houses; she was a person that most people knew. Very little people knew of her alignment with royalty until her third year, when one of the wizard villagers from the Assynt found his way to Hogwarts to beg her to return. Of course Nora could not abandon her education and so had to abandon her village instead - upon returning to the Assynt that summer, Nora wished she hadn't turned her cheek.
After her third year, Nora found the Assynt in a state of disarray. The Queen had begun to capture those who refused to bow in her presence and was creating chaos of the beautiful home that Nora knew. Nora grew scared. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do to help her village. There was really nothing for her to be able to do - not until she was at least twenty. Nora knew that she had to continue her education at Hogwarts, ensure the villagers of the Assynt that things would get better, and to hold out hope that the good would always win.
Nothing huge happened in the following years at Hogwarts for Nora spare one very important thing. At the end of her seventh year, when Nora attempted to return to the Assynt to live for good, Queen Caline banned her from the village. Caline knew that if Nora stayed in the village that there would be uprisings against her - that the villagers would find a way to overthrow her as their queen. Caline wasn't about to have that. Nora was chased out of the Assynt by the guard of the queen, but she knew she would reutnr. She vowed to return and claim her kingdom as her own - in the name of her parents and all of the Assynt.
Nora decided that if she was going to have to be away from her true home for a few years, she would go into a career that would eventually help her reclaim the Assynt. Nora settled on becoming an Auror - knowing that learning how to defeat others in magical combat would come in handy when it came to overthrowing Queen Caline. Now at the Auror training camps during the day, in a room at the Hog's Head Inn by night, Nora tries to allow light to fill her life to ward off the darkness. With the rise of The Dark Lady, however, Nora wonders if she'll have to go against not only one, but two bad apples.
