(OOC Note: I stated in the thread with Kat and Sofie that Katrina didn't break down and cry until she returned home, so hopefully she won't look too cold here. Also, I'm using the same opening here that I used in that thread.) Andromeda Bayne had been ill for months. The ailment had spawned from her deep depression since her husband Malevelas left her while she was pregnant with Katrina. She had never gotten over that. The ailment was treatable, but Andromeda did nothing about it, and didn't tell her daughter about it. It was if she wanted to die. She knew Katrina would be alright financially. The woman was well to do and left every galleon she had, along with everything else, to the only person who had shown her love, that of course being her daughter. Andromeda died on a Tuesday morning. The funeral was held Thursday. Few came to it, as few knew the woman given her lack of social life. Most who were there were there for Katrina. Throughout the funeral, Kat stayed strong and didn't shed one tear. She was calm and collected enough to talk to others who approached her. She didn't seem cold or anything like that, just as if she was seemingly taking it well. She of course loved her mother greatly. Many of those who had came to comfort Kat had gone on home and for the moment, Katrina found herself standing in front of the grave, the diggers nearby waiting patiently for her to leave to place the dirt back in. They weren't about to rush a dead woman's daughter from her mourning. She wore a simply black dress, black heels, and black gloves. She sighed a little and tossed a black rose on the casket. "I love you, mum," she whispered. "Good-bye." And with that she stepped away and began to exit the cemetery. COLE THEODORE NOTT

I wannah be somebody who's good enough to be seen with you.
Cole hadn’t even really knew that Kats mother was in danger of dying, so, when he got the news, of course, he was very surprised and the first thing he wondered about was, of course, Kat. What would happen to her now? Where would she go? What would she do? Who would look after her and make sure that she was always okay? Cole would have done anything to know that in only a short month from now, he would be back at school with her and he would be able to take care of her. But, that wasn’t the case. He was an adult now, with his own flat and a job that actually paid well despite his parent’s hatred of it. So, the young man attended the funeral and stood in the back while Kat stood with a woman whom he thought was probably family. He had noticed that a decent amount of people had shown up, including Alietta Krum, who Cole knew to be a very close friend of Kats. Once the ceremony was over, Cole watched as Ali went to hug Katrina and then walked back through the cemetery after giving her friend a kiss on the cheek and a word of encouragement. Cole was happy that she had supportive friends like Alietta and his sister. Cole hung back while everyone else left. And, once his girl was by herself, he approached slowly, letting her finish her words and turn to leave before he got to her. "Hey darling." he said to her in a clam, but still very deep voice. "How are you doing?" he asked his love and wrapped both arms around her, drawing her in to him.

Kat gave Ali a small smile as she showed her support and condolences. Her and the other girl's bond had only gotten stronger over the summer with the time together in Rome and hanging about Diagon and other places. Kat hoped their final year together at Hogwarts would be special and that they could see each other for many years to come afterward. While Ali and Kat didn't hug all that often, Kat accepted the hug with no hesitation, as well as the kiss and the words of kindness. "Thank you," she said quietly. "I love you, Ali."When Kat came over and wrapped his arms around her, she continued to stay strong. How she was able to, she didn't know. Perhaps because she had stayed so strong and at her mother's side during all those years of depression. It wouldn't be until she returned to her house that day that she would break down and cry. Returning his embrace, she sighed. "A lot better than I expected actually," she said. "I guess I don't want mother to look down and see me cry or something like that." She then knew that Cole would be worried about Kat's future. "She left me the house. It's all bought and paid for, as well as a good bit of money that will help me through the next year. So I'll be alright." She then looked up at Cole, her voice shaking and the beginning of the scared little girl who was now living inside Kat coming out. "I just... miss her... a lot already."COLE THEODORE NOTT

Cole sighed. He could stand the idea of his Katrina on her own. He knew, of course, that she wasn’t alone. He knew that she had someone to stay with and people to take care of her. And of course, he would always be there for her. Though he thought that they were still too early in their relationship for anything serious, he would offer her to stay with him if she needed to. Though, it seemed it wasn’t needed. "It’ll be alright." he insisted while hugging her and rubbing her back lightly in the hug. "It’s okay to miss her." he added. Currently, he was on the outs with his parents, but if one of them had died, he would be just as upset as she obviously was, even though she wasn’t showing it. Cole admired how strong she was being, but, it worried him. Sooner or later it would all have to come out.

As Cole held Kat close and rubbed her back, she closed her eyes. She could feel the tears fighting to come out. When was the last time she had cried? She couldn't even remembered. Then again, she hadn't really showed much emotion at Hogwarts until a few years ago when she befriended Thalia and Ali. Her emotions were hid away just as she was before that. The emotions that had come out after she made friends were usually positive ones. That only increased when she met Cole. This was the first time in a long time that something had made her sad, and it was tearing her up inside. But with these emotion, Kat found she was able to say something to Cole that she had been meaning to tell him for a long time. It was something she felt, but couldn't bring herself to say after sixteen years of not knowing what it really meant in a romantic sense. "I love you, Cole," she said. "Ever since we decided to do this date thing, you have been there for me, and I've loved you more and more every day. Thank you for coming here today... and into my life. I would be lost without you right now." She then looked up and kissed him briefly on the lips before resting her head on him again. She could do this forever if Cole allowed it. COLE THEODORE NOTT
