let the sky fall notes: hope it's okay June, 2023. Rome.
On their third day in Rome, after breakfast, group one and Professor Lewis Lockhart was announced that Caesar Montague would not join them today due to a sudden illness, which was said to be migraine.
In the bathroom of one of the girls' room, the faucet was turned on and water filled the sink in less than no time and spilled onto the slippy floor. Blood was dripping down from the Montague heir's left hand. Caesar gulped quickly as he pulled his hand closer to the faucet to let water wash the red, metallic-tasting liquid off the skin of his palm. He instinctively bit his bottom lip to keep any groaning sound from escaping his lips when his open wound met the cold water. Hopefully, there was no tiny fragment of glass stuck there or he would have problem. The Slytherin alumni muttered under his breath, cursing his own name for what he had done to himself. He remembered leaving the lobby almost instantly when the injury happened. So later he would have to see the manager to apologize and take the responsibility for literally crushing one of the hotel's expensive cups. Turning off the faucet, Caesar stood in dead silence for five minutes with his wand in his other hand, then he let out a small sigh.
He could not remember the spell to patch this wound.
Girlfriend. He sneered sardonically at his reflection in the mirror as Lorcan Scarmander's voice started to play inside his head repeatedly like a scratched record which he was dying to get rid of. His concepts of good friends and childhood friends were now very close to those of liars and betrayers. Those closest to you hurt you the most. Why did it take him so long to realize that there was a reason why Rosey had wanted to go in the direction of the Ravenclaw tower on the day he tried to drag her to Hogsmead in order to make peace with her. Caesar swore he had noticed the strange expression on her face the moment their engagement was announced. He should have known, for it had been that obvious. Or maybe he had been such an idiot that he had let himself be blinded by her charms, her touch and her lips. She could have told him everything and Caesar knew he would have been fine with it. If he had known, he would have even congratulated her on finding the one, even if it was the boy whom he considered his best friend and his brother. He had offered to break the engagement for her – for her – because he had not wanted her to get hurt! But she had chosen to hurt him instead. And Lorcan had chosen to betray him. And he had believed her when she told him she loved him. He had even been gateful to Lorcan for taking care of Rosalie for him. If Rosalie Harper's love hurt this much, then Caesar begged with her to take it back, because he feared that it was too late for him to give up on her.
Taking a deep breath, Caesar slowly leaned down to the sink until his whole face was in the water. The cold made him calm. Don't lose control. Don't act on feelings. Don't let them show. The Montague do not easily break down. They stand when everyone else falls. They stand, so that they can collect their debts.
Straightening up, the Slytherin caught his breath and dried his face with a towel then got out of the bathroom, looking perfectly fine as though nothing had ever happened. Pretending – he was good at that. “Where do they keep the first aid kits?” Suddenly, a click sound drew his attention to the door and he only had enough time to shoved his hands in his pockets when it was opened and someone stepped in. “Hey.” Uttered he, instinctively.

It was a strange morning, strange, a little unpleasant, and she actually spent some time with a company she never thought she will ever spend time with: James Potter. Though it was brief, very quickly that they were interrupted when Wallace decided that she's a good breakfast buddy and pulled her away. And the rest of the breakfast was spent in a quiet and somewhat heated and awkward discussion between two cousins about the same recently graduated boy, neither are agreeable to the other's view.
It certainly isn't a surprise that the conversation ended on a bitter note, perhaps Gisella feeling more so in compare to Wallace because she hated arguments, arguing always bring tears to her eyes, and she hated being seen crying. The next hour after breakfast that she spent fuming, her initial good mood ruined. Even the colorful display on the carts and in the shops couldn't gather her attention.
Hagrid's group was having a shopping day, it was more or less free activity until later at lunch time. Definitely a perfect timing for the two cousins to mend their relationship too but Gisella had stubbornly stayed away from Wallace, she hung out with Rose Weasley instead, the other girl she knew from that first evening here, they were roommates until a slight change of plans had her ended up sharing a room with the Montague boy instead. A long story, it wasn't too bad though, except for the fight they had on the very first day he moved into her room, the rest were fill with occasional greetings which most she skipped altogether by pretending to sleep before he even walks into the room.
She couldn't help herself, she just couldn't face him, especially not with the past incident where she had told him so much about herself on long length of parchments. Now every time when she sees him she felt uncomfortable, exactly like if she's standing naked in front of him.
He knows her better than anyone ever bother to find out about this halfblood girl, with the exception of maybe Wallace. Worse than that is the fact that Caesar Montague probably hate her to the core of her every bones, and he probably won't even twitch a muscle before deciding to sell all her secrets out to anyone else asking.
It takes no longer than ten minutes for Gisella to find herself feeling like a third wheel tagging along the blonde boy and red-haired girl. They are sweet, she has to give them that. And she could tell that they love each other so much - which boyfriend ever be sweet enough to piggyback his girlfriend all around Rome? She wouldn't call herself jealous exactly, but the longing is there, if she can find someone as amazing as the Malfoy boy. Maybe Leon would do the same if they are in the same situation, but Leon would never come back to her, he couldn't. Her regret forever.
Some people said you can only one great love, the grandest and greatest love, if that's the case Gisella believes that she may be destined to live by her own for the rest of her life.
She isn't sad, because for as long as it last Gisella was happy, she was happier than anytime in her life when she was with Leon, that ease of being together because they've been together for so long. If one want something to describe her relationship with Leon it was like the spring wind, smooth and warm and pleasant and familiar.
That was the very reason she finally left the couple and wandered off on her own, leaving the two of them to their own world, they should have a good time free of this wet blanket. Gisella wandered aimlessly down the street for a little more, many were around shopping that early in the morning, there crowd were loud and cheerful. Colorful clothes and jewelries and mouth-watering food did nothing to spark her interest though, this girl still lost in her own sea of feelings, now with additional guilt seeping into her as she's calmed down enough to rethink her own cold words towards Wallace.
How could she even get mad at someone who had always been there for her?
With a heavy heart that the girl finally decided to call it a day, when she caught someone she recognized as being in the same group as she is, Gisella got him to tell Hagrid how she's heading back to the hotel first and left the market finding her way back to Hotel Trevi. Leaving the group and go by herself, certainly something unusual for this Ravenclaw to do, but since her last suicidal attempt Gisella realized that she should take better care of herself, that she too can't be just living for another's happiness. Something is easier to think than actually taking actions of course.
She let herself into her room expecting to have an empty room all to herself, thinking that she might finally be able to imitate those rich ladies she read in books, bathing under the sunlight in their swimming suit - especially it's being exceptionally sunny here in Italy - with an ice tea sitting on the table beside, a book in her hands which she reads, and relaxing music - preferably Bach's - playing in the background...
The down side of this image, the only music player she has with her right now is the cassette player she thought of bringing along...
And there's the fact that she's not opening the door into an empty room.
When there came a soft hey into her ears and the tall figure of Caesar Montague came into her view, Gisella stopped short. "What are you doing here?" She asked, expression a shade of shock, hovering by the entrance with one hand still on the door handle like she's thinking of bolting away subsequently slamming the door behind herself so that he won't chase after.
Pulling in a deep breath like gathering her courage, only then she could make herself take another step into the room. The desire to run still pumping in her blood and tingling on the tips of her fingers, if that doesn't make her look like a lunatic or show him just how much she's afraid of him. It is an unfathomable fear to her, Sel hopes too that she can understand it so that she can conquer it. A sense of claustrophobia seized her as soon as she heard the soft click of the door closing behind herself.
They were alone, totally, completely alone. Just the two of them, in an enclosed space.
Gisella folded her hands behind herself and hoped that he won't see them trembling, it was with great courage that she took the steps towards her bed, carefully keeping a distance with him even though they couldn't be more than 3 long strikes away from one another in a hotel room this small. She pulled open her trunk just so she could look busy. "Well, don't mind me, you can run along to do whatever you're doing." That she said without even looking up at the boy, hoping that he will followed her suggestion and leave her alone.
