Jared was excited for the new quidditch season and though he didnt show it. He wasn't one for display of emotion so he stod there with a straight face, the sun was just beginning to fall into place. He purposely picked the earliest time possible for practice, he wanted to make sure they were actually up for this. He waited for the few stragglers to join the rest of the team before starting his speech. He wasn't one for long speeches or motivational talks, their motivation to win should be enough.
"While im sure sonme well most of you are eager to get on with practice, I want to let you know that this wont be just drills and flying skills. Everybody should run three laps at the most around the pitch at that start of practice. Its a great warm up and builds stamina, Since its the first day of ppractice we shoumd just simple drills, get used to the feeling of playing on the same team, I know there are some new faces....any qusations?" He kind of assumedd there wouldn't be too kany complaints about the running, It made no sense to complain about a practice ruke that was none neogotiable unless you had ab extremely good excuse.

People knew some things about Thaddeus Thorn. He was rich and had ways of getting what he wanted. He had influence on other members of Slytherin House. And of course to many, hew as known for being a royal pain in the arse. However, Thorn was also an exceptional Quidditch Player. His cunning and focus made him so. That, and as a Beater he had a desire to cause as much pain as possible to the opposing team by knocking the bludger in their direction.
Standing proudly with his broom, he listened as the Captain went over the routine. The strategy was sound, and he felt he would enjoy a bit of exercise. Thorn had a track in his massive back yard at home, and every morning he either ran or broom-raced around it as exercise.
When Jared asked if there were any questions, Thorn remained silent. If the strategy was sound, why be stupid enough to question it. The Slytherins always dominated on the Pitch, and even if they weren't the top team at the end of the year, they had a good standing. But best of all, they were feared. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw all knew to be at their sharpest when they faced the team.

Kat barely got any sleep that night. That that it made much if a difference. She didn't need a whole lot of sleep, but she did enjoy it. However, this time, she couldn't sleep from sheer excitement. She had received word of an early call time for the first Slytherin quidditch practice. She was lucky enough to have made seeker, but she assumed that because she was a vampire, her reflexes were a little faster than normal. Not to mention she had noticed that she was very easily distracted in class. It was probably because of the ADHD.
She got dressed in simple form-fitting work out clothes, grabbed her Firebolt, and ran out to the pitch. She was the third person there behind her captain and bowl-hair guy. The blond flipped her hair up into a ponytail as she listened to her captain speak. From what she knew of the houses and their teams, she was on one of the best. Not that she expected any less from a bunch of perfectionists.
Katalina listened intently to his practice plans. It seemed solid to her, and she had seen a bit of quidditch in her time. When he mentioned if their were any questions, she kept silent. Solid practice strategy could lead to solid playing. There was no doubt in her mind that they would do excellent this year. Then he mentioned running. The thing about Kat being a vampire was that physical exercise didn't phase her, but she assumed she couldn't just blur past anyone. She would keep it to human speed.

In good physical shape, Cameron had no qualms about a Quidditch practice. After all, except for endurance playing where a game went for more then a day, few fliers actually built up much endurance. It was all in the seating and the control of the legs really, down in the thigh muscles if you were good enough. And Cameron was a hard worker at what he wanted to master. He had learned long ago how to steer with just his legs freeing up his hands for batting and catching. More important, he was more fascinated in close turns, careful controls, and pin-point moves on a broom rather then speed. Although he had been injured in a freak accident last year with a bludger to the spine, he knew he was one of the nimblest on the team with a broom.
He had already gotten up and put himself through a series of limbering up exercises that morning in the dark before a shower and then dressing up. Or down depending on your look at it. The new outfit was made for triathalons and ironman competitions; it was light weight, extremely tough, and let fresh air in under it surface meaning he would sweat a lot less. In other words perfect for a workout. He slipped on his quittich robe over that and felt reasonably light and agile in it. Over the back of that he put his new bat holder, a cross between a sheath and a catcher at the bottom to hold the bat in place and a o-ring at the top to make it super easy to put a bat in even while upside down on a broom. He had practiced with it this summer and he liked the possibilities a lot.
Being able to switch hands during play easily and also have free hands could be a beater's secret trick really. Especially when it came to rounding a goal post super fast. His custom black wood broom he also picked up, built to match his maneuverability instead of going for speed like a racing broom. People who depended on normal company stock brooms were foolish, in his own mind, but they weren't probably aware of what all was available. He was. Ready, he made his way down and joined the team on the field, listening to what this year's captain had to say. "Smart," he said to himself softly as the run part and drills were announced, something most sports teams did anyway and he was prepared for. He merely awaited the word to begin.

Waking up so early in that morning wasn't very easy for the girl, since she was very used to sleeping until lunch in summer, but the thought of the first quidditch practice made her feel determined so she instantly got up from her bed and went to the prefects' bathroom to take a shower. Putting on a fresh training form in green and silver colors she took her Firebolt in her and and went outside of the castle, towards the quidditch pitch. The cold morning air was refreshing so the sleepness was gone. As she made her way to the quiddith pitch, the wind picked up annd it made goosebumps appear on her skin. Just when she finally walked to her teammates, she gripped her Firebolt tighter, being ready to start. Crystal was very excited for the new quidditch season, so the practice time didn't matter for her, as long as she could play. The captain's speech wasn't long and when he suggested that they need to run three laps at the start, she nodded. Although she wasn't a big fan of physical excersices like these, she didn't mind. "Understood." She whispered to herself when the captain finished, she dropped her broom on the ground and crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for the next instructions.

so albus wasn't a fan of getting up before the sun, or before it got light, or before breakfast was on the table. he liked his sleep ins. and today was no exception. he was standing in the middle of the quidditch pitch waiting for the rest of the team to get there, his hand resting on his broom, his head resting on his hand and trying to keep his eyes open long enough to tell his brain it needed to wake up. it was still back in his dorm in the comfortable bed in the peaceful dorm. not out in the cold about to be worked. he opened his eyes as he heard jared start to talk and he couldn't help the soft groan that slipped from his lips. running. three laps. they'd just come back to school. he'd flown over the holidays sure but he hadn't been running."running? really? i'll be more than thrilled to stand here and make sure everyone does their three laps" he half joked as he looked at their captain. as far as he could see running had nothing to do with playing quidditch, the plays being simple for now was a solid idea, and mostly he'd agree with him, but running. he wasn't all that big a fan of it. he ran his gloved hand through his short black hair and shifted his broom in his hand as he waited for them to get started. if they had to run he wanted to get it over as soon as possible. he loved quidditch, he was great at it. fast on a broom, quick reflexes and an eye that could usually determine where the quaffle would go, so while he'd grumble and complain about the physical side of training jared seemed keen to impose, he'd do it.

"Yes ,running it builds endurance, then we can work on getting used to playing with each other and strategies. Knowing each others strebgeths and weaknesses help with plays." he said roling his eyes but starting the run. He didn't care for people, complaining or not understanding, even if Quidditch was an active sport it was still a type of lazy sport. When the laps were finished he went back to where the brooms were and divided them by skill.
"Okay, so the beaters and the seeker, one protect the other attacks, try not to hit Kat please" he said to both Cameron and Thorn. He didn't want anyone getting hurt, during practice.
Ethan, Crystal, and Albus with me, teamwork, you can either work together to take or score the quaffle, two on one and we'll switch up so ou guys can get a feel for each other as a chaser."that was a good start at least to him it was, he mounted his broom and speed off to the goal post. Thorn wasn't going to argue as Albus did. Leave it to a bloody Potter to disrupt the flow of things. Besides, Thorn was in fine shape and a run did him good. He did the run, pacing just enough to keep up well yet not get exhausted. With this method, he felt fine once the laps were over. Now it was time to have some real fun.
Thorn stepped over to Cameron and Katalina.
"Good day, old boy," he said to Cameron. Thorn had mixed feelings about Cameron. For the most part, he was a fine example of a Slytherin. However, his downside was that he congregated with those from Gryffindor House. Thorn cringed when he saw the boy conversing with that bubbly Viona girl. "I trust we'll take good care of our Katalina."
He then bowed to Katalina.
"I don't believe I was able to properly meet you at my party," he said. "With so much going on, I didn't get the opportunity to converse with several. I do hope to get to know you a bit better, and that we will be able to work well together on the Pitch." The fact was that Thorn was intrigued with the new girl. There was something off about her and he wanted to know just what.

Ethan was running a bit late for Quidditch practice but he'd gotten a tad sidetracked. That was Ethan put simply sometimes. Well he was a simple person. He'd been just chatting away with some people about some of the classes for NEWTs year. He needed to do well this year considering it was his most important year. This would help him make his life what he needed it to be.
He had to run down to the Slytherin dormitories to get his broom, it was an older Nimbus but he'd had it with him since he began playing the game. He hadn't realized he was late until he had picked up his broom and then he made a mad dash for the pitch. He bumped into a few people but that didn't matter. He was late and for the most part Ethan only cared about himself.
He got into the pitch and looked around. Everyone was there from what he could tell. In fact he did a quick count, of course he was the last one here. He shook his head and his idiocy and then he heard Jared go on talk about what they needed to do for Practice. Ethan Crystal and Albus were to work together to take and score with the quaffle. It needed to be two on one for the moment.
”Sorry I'm late Jared,” he said as he grabbed hold of his broom and took up. ”I'll be the one if that sounds good,” he told Crystal and Albus. He was late it was only fair he have the harder time with practice at the moment. Jared had taken up to the sky for them to score. He had to admit that Jared was going to make a good captain even if that was what he wanted. He couldn't help but be a slight bit bitter about it but he wasn't going to show anyone.

Laying his broom down, Cameron ran the laps just fine, not bothering to remove the robe. It wasn't his preferred exercise as laps in a pool made him use more of the muscles he did use on the field, but it was all right enough. Exercise was just that and doing one or the other was just good for him in the long run. When they returned, he saw another arriving who he ignored as he picked up his broom in time for the divisions.
Simple enough for sure.
"Good day, Thorn, I hope you are up for a solid workout, I have energy to burn today for sure. Shall I start off on the defense side?" He heard him introduce himself to Kat and tried not to smirk as he kept his ears open. She wasn't exactly talkative about herself, but he'd hear what he could. When they were ready, he tossed one leg over his broom at the same time it launched forward, putting him in the air faster then the average which let him circle once upward spiral before the others rose up.
By then the bat was out and he had both of his fellow players in his sights for the beginning...
The new bat holder did fine as he had expected, allowing his spiral to be done upside down as he rose, something else he had worked on this summer a bit. Unnerving to some on a broom, he found it made a good dodging technique as well. He didn't hold it long as he wound up upright by the top of the spiral, not caring if anyone found it handy or not. His skill was in Flying, more so then the game and there were few who could match him for his specialty of control.

The blond suddenly realized that everyone else had started their laps. She smiled to herself, knowing that it wasn't a big deal to her. She was a vampire. Physical exercise was literally nothing to her. If she went all out for it, she would blur past everyone else and be done within seconds. But she wasn't exactly going to brag about the fact that she was dead to a bunch of people she didn't really know. As Kat ran, she kept up with the front runners for most of it. After all of the laps were done, she stood there as if she hadn't moved at all while a few others seemed to be breathing just a bit harder.
Jared had given orders for the two beaters to stick close to her. Well, that was flattering and all, but she didn't need the protection. Not that he knew that. The Slytherin was sure that during the game, she would be ordering them away from her on more than one occasion just so that they could go protect the chasers or something. If they didn't listen, she was highly confident she could lose them. After all, it was something a seeker had to be able to do.
The bowl-haired boy said they would take very good care of her, and she smirked wickedly. “What makes you think I need it? Or that I'm yours?” Her emerald eyes sparkled playfully. Despite what she said, she bowed her head slightly to Jared in an indication that she understood his direction, and grabbed a hold of her broom. Bowl-hair boy bowed to her, and her smirk only broadened. She was having flashes of how rude he had been to her at his house, and it only made her want to play more. “Darling, I don't need to know you all that well to work well with you during a game. It is a necessity.” She winked at him, mounted her broom, and sped past.
Then there was the other boy. Cameron. He spoke to Thorn directly, but he didn't say a word to Kat. She took a slight offense to that fact, but waved it off in the wind. As she flew higher, she passed him. “You should probably know who you are defending, by the way. It's rude to ignore people.” She left it at that, and flew away from him also. With both of her beaters behaving this way, she was going to have fun giving them a run for their money with having to stay on her.
