It was definitely a bit annoying that it happened, but once the cold was gone, Evie was able to laugh about it too. "You're right, I should really put this in the wash right now," she agreed. "Do you have any other stuff that needs to be washed?" she asked as she went to grab her nightie. She figured if she had to change now, she might as well get ready for bed. So she went off to the bathroom and changed into her nightie, also making sure she got off any traces off icecream from her skin.
Evie smiled when Pandora moved closer to her under the covers and gave Evie a hug. She enjoyed the feel of the other girl's body against her own, and embraced her friend warmly. "Thanks for inviting me! It's so nice go see someone else's house," she responded softly. As the hug ended, she sighed a little but didn't move all the way back over to her side. That hug had just made her kind of want to hold Pandora a bit longer... but that would probably be weird, right? And Evie really didn't want to upset the person who was fast becoming a good friend. She sighed and rested her head against the pillow, facing Pandora but lost in her own thoughts a bit.

She nodded waving an arm at a basket in the corner. "Just toss it in there, I won't mistake it for mine. We can wait to do it on another day unless you need it soon." She thought about it as Evie went to change, simply pulling on her own nightgown and letting underwear fall out from under it and tossed it in the laundry hamper. The warmth of the soft wool made her smile and hug herself for the feel of it. Soon she'd have to be sleeping with more as the weather got colder whereas during the summer there were nights she wore nothing at all.
Heat was a killer.
Pandora slipped out and replaced the cushions, then put out the light before returning to her room. As they got into bed she said "We'll have to talk tomorrow about what all to do. Besides the park of course. Do you ever do buildings when you sketch? We might have some angles out of the windows here you might like." As her friend hugged her back, Pandora smiled. Convincing people of who you were really wasn't as difficult after you got past the first stages and Evie was buying her story without question.
But she heard the double sigh and raised an eyebrow, not releasing the hug completely. Something was happening here. "What? Is something wrong?" She examined her friend's face seeing traces of blush there still, something was certainly going on behind her eyes. "All right now, what's bothering you, Evie? I can tell it must be something. Is it me?"

Evie was always happy to talk about her drawing when people asked about it. "Oh yeah, I do sometimes. But I find buildings and landscapes a bit less interesting to draw than people, people are much more interesting. They are more dynamic, have more expression and depth to them, I think," she explained. So looking out the windows might give some sort of inspiration but Evie would much prefer to watch Pandora and draw her, or some other person.
Of course she heard the sigh, and Evie immediately tried to cover it. "Oh no, it's fine, I was just tired from a big day, that's all," she said unconvincingly. She wondered if Pandora would buy it. She didn't want to admit that she was attracted to the other girl as that would make it very awkward sharing a bed together.

She listened, c0cking her head slightly to the side. She didn't often talk about art with someone so it was an interesting discussion for her. "Let me guess, angles are too...mathematical and straight? I can see how organics for a subject could be far more interesting because of the more random lines." She thought about that for a moment and then nodded slightly to herself. "I would think the colors are more challenging too, more shades you don't normally find in buildings?"
Art was not a subject she had messed with much, not thinking of herself as an artist but more a canvas to artists in the realm of clothing. She doubted she had any skill in those sorts of art like her friend spoke about, but that didn't make it any less interesting. She chuckled, half at herself. "Closest I'll ever get to at will be as the canvas," shaking her head, "I can tell when people wear stuff that's bad for them look wise and that's about it. Couldn't even tell you what they should be wearing."
Pandora however was a con artist. She wasn't fooled by the fake cover. "Oh come on, Evie," she said giving her a soft push with her hand on her arm, "I deal with back-stabbing, lying models in nearly every shoot even if they aren't after me yet. I can spot a bad fib a mile away. Come on and tell me what's going on, something is clearly bothering you." Whatever it was they were friends, right?

Evie shrugged. "Kind of. Although mathematical and straight can also look really cool if done right. But what makes people so interesting is the depth and feeling that they possess, and the big challenge is trying to make as much of that come out in the drawing as possible. It's so hard to get much of it in, but I've been working on it more and more," she explained. Angles, colours, shades, all of those things were secondary as far as Evie was concerned - they all contributed to the main goal which was the expression and emotion in the picture.
"That's still a good skill to have," Evie replied when Pandora talked about being able to work out good and bad fashion on people. "I find that a bit harder, the best I can do is think about what I think might look better as I draw them, but even still I find it hard to know what changes would improve an outfit," she replied. She had some sort of idea for her own outfits, but found it hard to give people advice on their own.
It seemed that Pandora was seeing right through her denial, so Evie would have to be honest about her discomfort. "Well, there is something, but it's kind of awkward to talk about so I wanted to avoid it, if that makes sense," she replied, blushing. She kind of hoped Pandora would drop it as it might make things weird between them if Evie had to tell her that she was attracted to her.

Pandora listened to the art explanation, interested in the difference in perceptions. An artist saw the world in different light when they began to reproduce it and that was something she had seen in the sketchers who worked the runways, the way they caught dresses in sharper lines and soft curves. "So then what you are getting is working in more and more detail through practice then? Does it take a long time to do a single drawing when you go for small detail?"
She waved a hand as if that was a small thing. "Ah yeah well that part is more experience. I've seen them change little details on a fashion within seconds of it going out for display, last second tucks and such in things which made a big difference in the over all impression. Everything from a button to a smoothing of lines or sharpening the edges. That's not art though, that's deliberate fabrication..." That part, adjustments to things, made sense to her. But as far as saying this person should be wearing a pale blue compared to a turquoise, she had no idea how they figure out those things...
"Ah ha! I knew it." She reached out and ruffled her friends hair up aggressively playful. "Gah! And it's about me isn't it? I'm doing something and you didn't want to tell me?" She was half amused, half serious, but adding humor to it might make it easier to get her friend to admit to what was bothering her so they could deal with it and move on.

Evie smiled, happy to talk about her own drawing process. "Yeah, kind of. Part of what I'm practicing to do is to get the emotion and energy into a drawing of a person with as little effort as possible, you know? Like, to have it in them naturally rather than having to spend hours drawing them to get it to come out. And I'm finding it's little things, like how accurately I get their body position, or their muscle tone, or their facial expression that helps it to come out, so if I focus more on those things early then you can really feel what they are feeling just by looking at the drawing," she explained. It was fun to share with someone what she usually kept to herself about her drawings - not because she was embarrassed about it or anything, just because it didn't often come up.
Hearing the small and subtle changes was interesting. "Yeah, the idea of it being fabrication doesn't sit that well with me. I guess I like people being genuine and the idea that they have to hide or conceal things to make it come across perfect seems unrealistic and not like the real world at all," she commented thoughtfully. She supposed modelling was often the same, but didn't want to say that in case Pandora was offended or something by that.
When Pandora ruffled her hair, Evie blushed a bit again, sad that she was pushing for more information. "I guess it is. Well it's mostly about me, but it involves you. It's not anything you're doing... well, not really... it's more about issues to do with me that just make me really awkward." She sighed, not really wanting to go on.

She thought he had the right idea, but not being an artist did hamper it a bit. Still, as a Ravenclaw Pandora definitely appreciated creativity in people. Artistry in any form was an intellectual pursuit really and so all art was something to be studied and admired. Thus even if her friend had been a bottle cap artist making pictures from grape nehi bottles, she would have still supported it, if questioningly about sanity. Knowing she was working with capturing far greater concepts then that she felt encouraged to help as much as she could.
"Ah! Well that explains all the sketching you are always doing at school for sure! Maybe you can show m some examples this week, maybe do some sketches of my grandfather as preliminaries for doing some larger?" She certainly wouldn't be able to hide the fact her friend was writing, drawing as he would hear that, but maybe the subject would fool him if she was careful. "We can tell him you like sketching in general and his house is very nice. He'd like that and it won't be lying."
Pandora threw back her head in a laugh!
"Ah Gods! I need to get you on one of those trips, dear, there is nothing even slightly realistic about modeling in any way! It's entirely a world on selling a product and making the big contracts, selling to the ultra rich. There couldn't be anything less fake then that, but except for the Victorians who did horrible things to themselves to look better then realistic, there hasn't been anyone else in the world with more style." She grinned. "I hereby tell you to remain unsettled by it, that's the right reaction. But Evie, if they can afford to have a stable of fifteen or twenty models at those prices, imagine what size the contracts are."
So it involved her but wasn't about her specifically, it made Evie do something herself she was comfortable about, but she also didn't really want to come out and say it. "Wow, reluctant much? I can see this is really bothering you!" Pandora just hugged her closer again, tightly as if trying to give her comfort back and then pulled back a few inches, her face suddenly thick with realization. Looking at her with one eye squinted as if she could see the answer she said without warning "Say...are you in that 'I wanna try kissing a girl stage?' That usually happens before this year I thought..."

Evie nodded happily. "Sure, I can show you some of my sketches in the morning if you like. And I'm happy to have a go at sketching your grandfather, then you can let me know if you like it enough for me to do the other portraits as well," she suggested, laughing slightly at the idea of drawing him without telling him, but still getting around it. Pandora was sneaky like that.
As she heard more and more about it, Evie was more unsettled. And that was a good thing, she decided, and as Pandora affirmed her in. "Yeah... I mean, style is one thing, but it's better if people can promote realistic images rather than fake ones. It creates unhelpful body image issues for people, you know? I mean, look at you, you're pretty much perfect as it is and they still feel like they need to touch you up - what does that say for the rest of us?" she asked, laughing a little.
When Pandora brought her in for a hug, Evie hugged her back a little tentatively, but soon relaxed into it. It felt nice, but she thought she might have to admit it soon. But then Pandora came straight out and asked her about it, and Evie blushed. "Um... yeah, I think so... I mean, I've been noticing girls a lot more lately, you know?" she admitted, worrying now about Pandora's reaction. Did most people really have this same feeling at a younger age than Evie was having it?

She smiled, full of self satisfaction. She could use that as a present and she was sure he would be quite happy with that bit of stealth. "Sounds perfect! I know he can't see it, but if I had a painting of us, I know others would mention it and that would make him feel good. I can use it as next year's Christmas present maybe that way." That felt good to as if she was evening the imbalance with the man she called grandfather, though she knew it helped in establishing she was the right child and not a false.
Not that she felt guilt for taking advantage of the situation, but it helped a tad.
Pandora blushed slightly still unaware of her friend's true seeing of her. "Oh please, I'm no where near perfect, you should see some of the other models I get to work with." She did admit the point however about the attention to physical beauty. "Well I know that sounds true, but you have not seen someone without the make up in a picture either. Lights like thy have to use wash all the color out of skin and without all the extra you look unhealthy and pale. A lot of those touch ups are because of the camera lights."
Something about the way she said that made Pandora hesitate for a second. Did she mean that to sound quite that interested? "Oh most girls go through that. I've heard it's so common the muggles have songs about it." If that's all it was, it was far easier to go ahead and fix that once and for all. Sitting up partly she said "Well then, that's simple enough to test out," and she leaned down, kissing her friend on the mouth awkwardly. She wasn't all that good at it never having done it but once before, but she knew enough to avoid noses and keep her lips moving...

"Oh, one of the two of you together? Will you be sitting next to him when I do it?" she asked, having thought it was just going to be one of her grandfather. Evie could adapt to do one of the both of them easily enough, though.
At her mention of not being anywhere near perfect, Evie rolled her eyes a little. "Well, comparing to them doesn't mean much. If you compare to typical people, though," she pointed out.
Evie was surprised to hear that most girls go through it. She thought she was unusual, or weird for it. "Really? Did you go through it yourself?" she asked curiously. It made Evie wonder if this really was just a phase, if she would just get over it at some point and like boys more again. But before she had a chance to think any more about that, Pandora was kissing her, and Evie's eyes went wide with shock before she relaxed into the kiss a little. Was this really happening? It felt great. It definitely wasn't convincing her that she didn't like girls.

Looking back at Evie she smiled; apparently she had forgotten she had mentioned three different portraits just a few minutes ago. "Well yes, one of just him and one of us together plus the portrait for Jared. That one can be small, but the other two I figured you could easily catch him in one and then have me pose to fit it sometime later. That one doesn't need to be done now or really soon, but I thought you'd want to catch him while you could if it works." Didn't they often pose families separate for portraits?
She had thought so at least. Maybe not.
There was a certain amount of ego growth when told she was perfect compared to most people. It made her feel very warm, pleased which was part of the reason she didn't hesitate about the kiss. It was nice being told that by people outside the model world in fact. "Aw, well thanks! I'm glad to hear I'm good at what I choose to do for a living..." Ha, a living! A lifestyle is really what she was heading into in many ways. And even as a trophy wife on Jared's arm she thought she was an advantage personally.
She shrugged. "A bit, just never did anything with it really. Women are beautiful and worthy of attention, that was about it for my mind. " The kiss was good once her friend relaxed a bit and got into it and that was about when Pandora pulled back. "There, seems like you do like kissing girls. And you aren't bad at it either actually." She was back down on one elbow before it occurred to her to think past the kissing. "So wait, are you saying you like more then the idea of kissing?"

Evie nodded. "Yeah, I can do it while we're here, that'll be easier. Adding you in won't be too hard either, especially knowing I'll have to do it beforehand. I can leave room," she decided. It wouldn't be difficult to do if she was thinking of it as she started the portrait. "Would you like it to be colour, or black and white?" she asked. She didn't often draw people posing together, but she was sure it wouldn't be that challenging.
The poor girl's mind was so tied up in the kiss. Was it just happening as an experimental thing for Pandora? Was she purely doing it for Evie's experience or was there desire for it in her as well? Evie definitely enjoyed it, and relaxed into it, until it eventually ended. She was breathless after that. "Thanks," she whispered after Pandora said she wasn't bad at it. It had been her first kiss which made this whole thing even more intense for her, the fact that she hadn't initiated it, and now didn't know what it meant. Her mind was whirling around like crazy. But at the next question, her eyes widened nervously. "Um, maybe? I don't know... it's really confusing," she admitted, breaking eye contact with Pandora.

What little she knew about painters came from history books really and it had seemed fairly straight forward to her. It took awhile to paint, so they only did one at a time. She didn't know how that would affect sketching however. "I thought it might but I wasn't really sure. I figured it might work if you were thinking about it and always had the sketch book around. Face here, hands etc. I don't really know a lot about art." She gave her a thoughtful glance. "I think color would be best for all three..."
After a second she asked. "Evie, do you ever work with pictures? Like, taking pictures of a face or a form? Would that help? For the details of the face and all that from a picture to help with the sketches..." For if she was to spin her off as a photo type of person, she could get a lot of pictures of her grandfather easily enough! A few minutes past and when she released Evie from a kiss she didn't miss the others suddenly quiet voice. Had that been her first kiss?
"Uh, suddenly I wonder if I made a mistake. Was that your first kiss? If I had known that..." She pursed her lips as she thought about it with regret; she should have tried to make that more special in a way. "And I don't mean just first kiss with a girl, but with a guy too. Damn! Should have tried to make it more special somehow for you..." Ah ha! So she wasn't sure yet. Wow, this was a rather large plum she had been handed, how could she use this to her own advantage?
Putting on a concerned look she leaned close to Evie, setting her head down just a few inches away. "Hmm, I think I know what I can do then. First off just to be straight with you, I'm not into girls really, not that way, okay? I don't object to you being that way, but there's a certain something about a guy's roughness which definitely gets my interests where as girls are just pretty and beautiful and soft. Except models. Some of them are pure evil..." She grinned, but she also meant it.
"So since I didn't really make the first kiss all that special," unaware how much her friend had enjoyed it, "We can practice some more if you want to, to get the mechanics and all that down. And if you are really nice and try hard," she nearly laughed, the giggle in her eyes this time, "I might let you hold me tonight if you wanna. Long as you don't explore without permission obviously."

When Pandora asked about photos, Evie shrugged and pushed some hair out of her face. "No, I don't usually need photos. Usually just seeing the visual is enough for me to base a drawing off, especially when I can keep looking at it. But I guess a photo could help sometimes, too," she replied, not really minding either way.
Evie was surprised that Pandora picked up that it was her first kiss. How had she made it that obvious? "Yeah, it was... with a guy, too. But it's okay, I mean... it was nice." What else could she say? She couldn't deny she had liked it. She just felt... strange about it. When the other girl put her face close to Evie's, they met eyes as Pandora explained things. When Pandora suggested they practice, though, Evie's eyes widened. She wanted to kiss more? And she would let her hold her overnight... if she tried hard? What was this, some kind of test? Evie had no idea how to react. She felt like a deer in the headlights or something like that. "I guess that sounds nice," she said with a slight smile. The idea of holding Pandora did seem nice, but she wasn't sure how she felt about the idea of being able to do it only if she kissed her in a certain way. It was strange. "Are you sure you want to? I mean, I don't want to do it if you don't..." she said quickly.
