The Dragon was getting close. So very close. She suspected that it would hatch any day and she could barely contain her excitement. Chaunce would be back around soon and hopefully, he would be able to stick around for the dragons hatching. They still hadn't defined their relationship, and it had almost been a year since they went to the dance together. But the girl had much more pressing matters on her mind at the moment: mainly, how to sneak back into the common room after having snuck out earlier to check on her new, unborn creature. She easily snuck past the prefect guarding the basements and she knew that the Slytherin prefects were easy to deal with. She could just flirt with the boys and the girls rarely cared, especially when it came to her. Ali was a 7th year. Top dog. She always knew how to get exactly what she wanted.
Sneaking into the common room was simple. She had worried for nothing. It was past midnight and the common room was empty, so the girl walked up the girls’ stairs and to her dorm. She had expected all of her roommates were asleep too so she didn't bother with the lights. She simply closed the door and turned into the room, letting her eyes adjust to the darkness before she went to find her bed.

Kat happened to walk down to the common room when Ali sneaked back in. Granted Kat was worried about where the heck her friend was, but had mainly come back down for a cup of water. After finishing her cup, she spotted Ali sneaking in. She was about to say something, but she didn't want to scare the hell out of Ali. So she quietly followed Ali back up the stairs and into the dorm room. Once Ali had reached her bed, Kat calmly stepped over and sat down. "Hey you," she said. "So... what were you doing?"
Kat would of course not go blowing the whistle on Ali to a professor or Prefect or anyone else. Kat was the last person to "tattle" on anyone unless bloody murder was involved. She highly doubted her good friend had sneaked out on a killing spree. Still, Katrina was curious of Ali's exploits and figured the girl would tell her of all people given Ali could trust Kat not to to go running her mouth anywhere. "And you know if you're that determined to sneak out, you could at least try to talk me into going with you," she said. "I mean, the grounds aren't exactly super safe at night, even with the Aurors patrolling now."ALIETTA MARIE KRUM

Ali immediately rubbed her forehead a little when she heard the voice of one of her very best friends, Katrina. Ali knew that Katrina wasn’t one to go off and find a professor or prefect to spill everything too, and even if she had, Ali knew a few things that Kat had done that some professors would surly look down upon. However, the two were close enough (and cool enough) not to care about things like that. “Hey Kat.” Ali replied, wondering instantly what she was going to say. She couldn’t exactly tell her friend where she had been. She couldn’t tell anyone where she had been, except for Chaunce of course, but he already knew and he was going to be coming with her soon enough. “I just needed some fresh air.” She insisted. “The mixture of fire whisky and homework is getting to me.” That wasn’t a lie. Not at all actually, though, she hadn’t had that much whisky tonight. She knew she needed to be alert for her Egg, but people would start to suspect that something was up if Ali didn’t have her nightly glass. She was pretty sure she was almost immune to the drink by now anyway. “What are you doing up?” she asked in return.

Katrina knew two things. The first was that she could never picture Ali going out to the grounds just for the purpose of getting some fresh air. The second was that Ali would never lie to her for a cold or cruel purpose. If Ali was hiding something, she had a good reason for it, and in time she would tell Kat. Kat wasn't going to push it on her. "Alrighty," she said about the fresh air. "But you know I heard from someone that people actually did their homework a lot better when they were sober. Even tried it myself a few times." Kat smirked at that, hoping the good-natured sarcasm got a smile out of her friend. "Hey, you got your reasons for going out and I respect that. Just playing the concerned friend role is all."Kat was then asked why she was up at that time of night. "Meh," she shrugged. "The usual middle of the night thirst. Plus I got to thinking about my mother again. Some times I dream that she's still around, and when I wake up to find out it wasn't real... well hard to get back to sleep." Kat then decided to change the subject. If she discussed her mother for too long, she began to get emotional. "So you having trouble in any subjects? Maybe I can help you out."ALIETTA MARIE KRUM

Phew. She had gotten away with it. A small singe of pride cascaded through the girls veins. However, she knew that her friend was still suspicious. She wouldn’t have to keep it from her for much longer. Once the Dragon had hatched and was decently big, she’d start to tell more people about it. And, once she graduated and was able to take it somewhere safe and open, everyone would know. She couldn’t wait for that moment. She had a dragon. It was hers. She almost already started thinking of it as her baby. She was already as protective of it as she imagined that she would be of a baby she had. She wasn’t even sure if she wanted kids someday, but she had the feeling, none the less. “Homework without fire whisky would be like a cowardly Gryffindor for me.” She smirked. It was a secret pleasure to make cracks against Gryffindor’s for her. She really had very little again the house itself, but it was a Slytherin part of her, and it came out strong fairly often. Ali was taking the bare minimum, class wise, and she was doing fine, “Nah, I’m fine. It all just gets boring.” She admitted. “Since we’ll be out of here soon anyway, why should we work so hard?” she shrugged.

Kat looked over the bias against Gryffindor. She knew Ali well enough by not that she said those things all in good fun. "Hey, if you want to get smashed while you do your homework, that's your thing," shrugged Kat. "I once drank some fire whiskey before I did a painting to see what would happen. Painting turned out really well. So... meh, maybe it does work. Still I'd like to see the looks on your Professors' faces." Kat smirked at this. Kat then nodded when Ali said the classes weren't difficult, but boring. "Well, can't help you there," she said. "I'm not the 'make learning fun' type. And you have to work a little hard or you won't get out of here. I don't want to not see you for a long while because you're still at Hogwarts. Besides, I finally decided what I was going to do with my mum's house when I graduate. I've been wanting to tell you about it. I'm going to turn it into a museum to show my work and the work of others. I'm going to call it the Andromeda Bayne Museum of Magical Art. What do you think?" There were three people she always liked feedback from- Ali, Thalia, and Cole. (Probably going to repeat the idea in the Cole/Kat Thread) ALIETTA MARIE KRUM

“Teachers never notice.” Ali smirked and sat down on her bed. “Why would they? I’m sure they’re just as anxious for me to leave as I am to get out of here.” Ali wasn’t exactly known as a bad student. All of her homework always got done, even if some of it was late. And she managed to get decent marks on all of her exams and her OWLs too. However, she and the professors had a sort of understanding. Neither were quite fond of the other, however, they made their relationship work when it needed to work. She didn’t hate any of them, most of them were actually very wonderful people and outside of the castle, she would probably buy them a drink. However, while she was still a student, there was little she actually wanted to do with her professors and would stick to just managing in their classes. “I think that’s a wonderful idea, Kat.” Ali smiled when she told her what she wanted to do with her mother’s house. Ali had gone to the funeral and hugged her friend as tight as she could. She could only imagine how hard it was on her. “It’s a nice way to remember her.” She agreed.

Kat smirked at Ali and shook her head. Ali might have given her teachers grief, but to Kat the girl was one in a million, and Kat couldn't help but love her. "Meh, by now I think they're so used to watching students come and go that they don't have any particular one that they look forward or dread to see going," she said. "Besides, you keep life interesting, and you know how hard it is for me to stayed interested. I'm sure some of them will miss you for that." The smirk became a smile. "You know I don't think I've ever really told you this, Ali, but thanks for being my friend when I needed one and didn't know it. You and Thalia changed my life here."Kat was glad Ali liked the idea of the museum. "I want you to be there opening day," she said. "It won't be nearly as special if you're not." Kat remembered how much Ali was there for her at her mother's funeral. That was probably the first time she had ever hugged Ali, and it was what she needed at the time. Kat then smirked again. "I'm being mushy again," she said. "I need to stop that. So, what are you up this weekend? Wanna waste time around Hogsmeade?" ALIETTA MARIE KRUM

“I think you’re wrong there.” Ali smirked when her friend insisted that teachers didn’t care about which students came and went. She remembered back to her first year. Being a Slytherin, Ali only had a few classes with her cousins, except for Albus; they were in the same year and, luckily, in the same house. She remembered the small sigh that he got when the teachers realized whose son he was. Ali, of course, had heard the stories of her family’s adventures when they were in school, and for a while, she was glad that she was only related to them through the marriage of her aunt. She wasn’t judged with the name as a trouble maker right away. However, she had made her own name among the teachers fairly quickly. “I’d love to be there, Kat.” She smiled. “Thalia and I changed your life? You’re safe with Thalia, but I’m probably not the best influence.” She smirked. When she brought up this weekend, Ali bit her lip. “Um, maybe.” She couldn’t exactly tell her that Chaunce would more than likely be sneaking onto the grounds to help her with the Dragon.

"Maybe," shrugged Katrina about the Professors. "I've never really had a connection with any of them so that's probably determining that thought process. I could always be wrong though."Kat smiled when Ali said she would be there for the opening. Kat wanted all those she loved to be there. She already knew her mother would be there in spirit. "I can't wait," she said. Kat then chuckled just a little as Ali said she was a bad influence while Thalia was the good one. "Hey, that's a good thing," she said. "I've got to have that balance and all. Why do you think I picked you and Thalia as my two best friends?" She gave Ali a smirk at this. "Just messing with ya. You're pretty alright in my book, you know?"Kat nodded when Ali said she might be able to go to Hogsmeade. Ali hadn't been able to hang out a good bit as of late, but Kat didn't see it as her friend blowing her off or anything. The two had been through too much for that. "Alrighty," Kat yawned. "I should get some rest because of the whole school thing tomorrow." Without really thinking about it, Kat leaned over and hugged her friend. After breaking the hug. "Good night, Ali. Have good dreams and all that stuff."Kat then went off to bed. (End) ALIETTA MARIE KRUM
