Mile has used the last name 'Long' for the last half century to avoid giving away his past too easily.

OCCUPATION: Wizarding Dropbox Owner (describes himself as the operator of a large nexus message delivery system). Owls come in from many in the wizarding community to addresses that need to conceal their identities or locations (vampires, werewolves, spies, dark witches and wizards, etc) to a set of four possible buildings. A posted squib (well paid) tends to the owls and takes any message putting it in a tube and hitting one button. The tube delivers it's message four miles away to a small building. Looking up names in the book, they place the envelope in another envelope with the forwarding address and send it through another tube to another post where an owl is sent off with the new message. Turn around is half an hour and fairly untraceable service which some pay very well for. Advertising is by word of mouth between customers usually.

PERSONALITY:
Flexible - Miles tries at all times to be ready for change, being ready to make last moment decisions. This has not only saved his life, but gotten him some sweet deals landing in his lap too.
Lazy - By nature, Miles does tend to try and find ways to get by without doing a lot or doing the preventative in advance to avoid the extra work later on. A day in bed with a pretty girl? Bliss.
Experiences - Experiencing new things, new places, new people; these are all extraordinary things in his mind well worth taking risks for. Miles will make an effort to try out opportunities as they show - - he's not one to let a second knock when the first was enough.
Alternative Controls - Money, gratitude, favors, bets, oaths, pride, making something right again; these are all ways of controlling others and Miles gets darn gleeful when he sees one being controlled by these indirect tricks and tried to use them whenever possible.
Truth - One can not be a vampire or it's descendants and not deceive, it's in their nature. Being told the truth and knowing it however will get his full attention and interest and not quite a bit of loyalty at the same time. Being honest with him and backing it up will get you somewhere with him every time. One gets tired of lies over the decades.

HISTORY:
Growing up in New Orleans, Miles learned a lot about music, cooking, and getting by early on in life. Knowing he was different and what he had to do to keep that from others was his main challenge in life. Early on he knew he had to get somewhere else first to be able to establish himself. After his first trip to Europe (and his first turning who landed nearly at his feet gift wrapped), he knew another country was the way to go. With his mother's permission he headed up to Quebec for a few years as well as time spent in South America for his education. Along the way he polished up his deception and disguise skills and by the time he headed overseas, he was in top shape.
Missing his first Get who crossed in the opposite direction.
Over the years he has practiced being many people as he gained wealth and established secure places with his Get, including being a Smuggler, Gospel Singer, Undercover Officer, Performer, Gangster, Stripper, and a Business Owner to name a few. He saw several of his Get grow into solid business places and their retreats established for him a secure set of retreats across Europe. He also lost several along the way, causing a frown on his face with each destroyed effort.
Most puzzling is the lack of evidence of where the first disappeared to. No records or private muggle detectives turned up leads frustratingly enough. Seeing the last quarter of a century still to go, he is making sure of those he leaves behind one day, sure that his dark children will continue to be successful only to discover to his surprise a living descendant of his uncle still alive and in England! Moving swiftly to establish contact with the parents he is trying to get them to accept him as long-lost cousin so he can spend the effort to make sure the future is bright for this six times great nephew. And found his first Get in school with him puzzling enough!
The answers to this puzzle will certainly be interesting to get hold of...
