Rowyn had taken his savings and bought a small flat in the country. He was a dragon trainer and worked in the northern part of England so that he could train with the English trainers. He was learning the art of the one thing that he'd always wanted to learn. It was hard to believe that prim and proper Rowyn Devin Meagher was a dragon trainer. The young man was always having to purchase new clothes because he deemed some of his others to dirty or burnt to wear. He'd been burned a few times over the last few months, one was really bad. He was getting ready to start with a Hebridean Black female when one of his co-trainers had lost grip and it had turned around with a beautiful puff of fire. It took someone telling Rowyn that he was on fire on his right arm for him to notice at first. He had some permanent nerve damage in his arm but other than that only a scar remained now.
One of the worst problems for Rowyn this summer was his boyfriend John Wyatt Sloper had to travel back and forth to England from the United States. Rowyn managed to pour himself into his work while Wyatt was gone and devote his time to Wyatt when he was here. He couldn't believe how happy he was to be with Wyatt in the end. The other male was so super amazing. Rowyn had offered to move to the United States with Wyatt at the beginning but Wyatt had said no. The long distance did do some good sometimes and they did get to see each other often enough for Rowyn to only miss the other male for so long, but sometimes it was hard going to sleep without him here in the small two bedroom flat.
In the end Rowyn was always happy to see Wyatt though and summer had been well despite the burns. Now the slightly OCD male, well maybe slightly wasn't a good word, was cleaning up the flat. He'd moved around some furniture to make everything look a little better. He'd be making sure that it was just absolutely perfect. Today was his day off and he planned to make the best of it. He'd been up since the wee hours of the morning just as the sun began to shine as he cleaned and pushed furniture around. He was expecting Wyatt home sometime soon so the flat had to look great. Maybe later he'd even run out and buy some new clothes. He'd been burned again yesterday, which left him a little sore on his leg and he kept it wrapped to make sure nothing bad would happen as it took to proper healing. One of his favorite sweaters now had a few singes in it and that was no good.

Wyatt was exhausted. The amount of bruises and scratches he had on his person was ungodly. But, for some reason, medical care in the United States was a lot different than the one had had in England. There, he could have gone to St. Mungo’s for some of the injuries he’d sustained. He had gotten on in his knee. As they were rushing him to the hospital, he heard people worry that it had been an anterior cruciate ligament that had been torn, but they had been wrong, thankfully. Injuries like those often put people out for months at a time, and that was something the 18 year old wasn’t sure he could afford. At least, not in a place like the United States where every visit to the doctor cost him a fortune. And, it wasn’t like the Sloper was lacking for money, for once. The States were actually pretty good about paying their players handsomely. It was just tha the tended to spend a lot traveling back and forth between America and his boyfriend, Rowyn. It was definitely worth it, however, when he apparated home and surprised him.
If one would have told him at this point last year that he was going to be in a very openly-known relationship with Rowyn Meagher, he would have laughed hysterically and told them to get their heads checked. Mostly because Wyatt hadn’t even, really, admitted to himself that he played for the other team. He had always suspected, had always known deep inside of himself, but had never admitted it until Rowyn. It was nice because his boyfriend didn’t judge him based on the blood that he had in his veins. Otherwise, everything might have been different. He had a portkey that he took that took him as far as Ireland. From there, he had to apparate home. And, each and every pop left him a little winded and definitely tried to get home. Luckily, he had a couple of days off until their next game. And, Wyatt only had to be back four days before to practice. It would give him about three days with his boyfriend before he had to go off and be a Quadpot player again.
Letters were always fun to write, especially to his ex-roommate, but nothing was quite the same as embracing the smaller man and letting him know just how much he cared and adored him. That was what got him through most of the trip. Still, he had had to stop for a little bit and make sure that all of his body was on correctly. People made horrible mistakes when they were traveling long distance. Thankfully, eventually, Wyatt did make it to their little home. He leaned heavily against the front door for a second, gathering his breath and making sure he was in one piece, before pushing the door open and looking around. So far, there was no Rowyn, but he could see where his boyfriend had decided to redecorate. When he had been home last time, he had been enlisted in moving things around. Some people would have gotten annoyed at living with someone with OCD. It took a lot of patience. Luckily, he was incredibly easy-going. And, well, his boyfriend had never complained about his werewolf genes. Hadn’t flinched when Wyatt introduced him to his parents and siblings. So, it stood for reason that he’d do anything and everything he could to make him happy. “Rowyn?” He called, shutting the front door behind him. “Are you home?”

The house was constantly changing because of Rowyn's need for everything to be perfect. Here in another few weeks he would decide that it wasn't perfect and rearrange everything again. He tried to do it all himself but occasionally listed Wyatt to lend him a hand because having Wyatt help made sure that Lorcan could watch. But still he knew that something like this could get on one's nerves so he was careful with how often he asked Wyatt to help out. On the good side Wyatt was not blind because if he was Wyatt would frequently be tripping over a moved chair or couch. It was a very good thing.
Rowyn was planning on having Wyatt back for a few days and he was very excited. He did have to work for a few hours tomorrow but other than that he was Wyatts for the time being. There were a few quirks about each of them, Rowyn had his OCD and Wyatt had his werewolf genes. Rowyn had always been more on the adventurous side despite the OCD and he had no problem with Wyatt's genes or that his family were werewolves. Why would he have a problem with that? He was in love with Wyatt for who he was and his family and werewolf genes helped make him that person so he could never even blink an eye at the idea.
Rowyn had completely lost track of time while he'd been cleaning up and reorganizing. He hadn't even heard the door but soon he did hear his name being shouted and asking if he was home. He finished moving the bed around in the bedroom before he walked out and peeked into the living room. ”Wyatt,” he smiled wide and made his way over to give him a big hug and a kiss on the lips.
Had you told Rowyn that he would be going out with Wyatt Sloper a year ago he probably would have just laughed in your face. Then things changed, well Vincent Greyback, kissed him and then there was the time in the Gryffindor boy's dormitory where he made Wyatt try on some of his clothes. And oh everything had changed. He remembered when he met Wyatt's family and how much of a struggle it was for Wyatt to make it back here. When Wyatt was gone he often visited his parents back in Ireland and enjoyed them a lot.
Rowyn looked Wyatt over after finishing the hug. ”You're worn out, you shouldn't be apparating when you're worn out,” he told him, ”let me talk to Mum and Dad we'll get another portkey set up there that can bring you here to the house.” He was sure he could get one set up through the ministry and with his parents. They loved Wyatt. Rowyn's family had always been very open about how much they want their son to be happy. That was the most important thing in the world to the Meagher family. There was a reason they weren't purebloods anymore despite being one of the oldest families in Ireland.
They really did seem to be a match though. They both were covered in bruises, scars, and whatever else you could name for an injury. ”You okay?” he asked him seeing a few of the bruises. Luckily his current burn was on his leg wrapped up and he was careful not to limp. ”How's Quadpot been?” he did manage to ask to make sure everything was well in the world of Wyatt.

He’d been tired before. He’d been exhausted before. He’d been on the verge of collapsing before, but, somehow, the eldest Sloper figured that pointing that out wouldn’t be something that Rowyn would want to hear. Instead, he reached out and pulled the slightly shorter brunette towards him again so he could close his eyes and relax for just a little bit. He laughed a little at how worried he sounded, but pulled away at his own pace. Rather than answering him right away, he let his eyes wander over their living room with amusement. It had seemed that his boyfriend had gotten it into his head to redecorate their little house again. That was fine with Wyatt; it always felt like he was walking into a new home every time he got a small break. Part of him regretting going away to the United States to play, but he found that he liked it there. Sure, the culture shock had been different, but he found that his teammates would always ask him questions about home. And, they were much more open to his genetics and to his boyfriend than he would have thought. Besides, coming from a country who prioritized Quidditch to Quadpot, he had had to prove his worth to them. Not only did they call him by his given name, but they liked to call him the ‘European’, seeing as he was the only person on the Brooklyn Bundimuns to be from Europe.
He wanted to say that he was the only person in the entire American league to be from a different country, but that would have been lying. He was pretty sure the Honolulu Korklumps had someone from the Philippians who was pretty good, and the Trenton Trolls had a German fellow who was responsible for some of the bruises on his person. He couldn’t even get started on the Sacramento Sea Serpents – eleven half-giants, and they still weren’t close to being regulated. He could have named a couple of others, but he was more content with being around Rowyn. He could think about the others later when he was back in the States helping come up with strategies to take the others down. As it were, they were about fourth place in the league, but mere points separated them. “I’m fine, Rowyn.” He said, honestly. Wyatt was; fine. Mostly because the other boy had this strange effect on him that seemed to automatically calm everything within him down. “But, if it makes you feel better, I’d be glad to get here quicker without all the stops and the headaches that come along with it.” And, the constantly making sure that all of his limbs were with him. That was also pretty important.
When he did eventually pull away from Rowyn to take a deeper analysis of himself, he found that he did have a number of bruises and cuts on his body. Thankfully, most of them were just superficial. He couldn’t even feel any sort of pain if he pressed against them. The only one he was still sore about was the one on his left shoulder, where he had been tackled into the ground. “I could ask you the same question – about being okay.” He gestured towards some of the burns. He knew his boyfriend’s line of work was pretty dangerous, and Wyatt couldn’t help but worry about him sometimes, especially when he knew he was in no condition to. “Same old, really. The Quod explodes, or doesn’t. People get marked off the field, or don’t. I’m pretty sure the only way to beat the Sea Serpents is to confuse them long enough the Quod explodes.” The way they had been playing so far certainly wasn’t helping much, but his team had its own qualities. “What about you? Any dragon giving you an especially difficult time?”

Rowyn was so happy to see Wyatt. No one made him happier. And he was very happy to be off work today to see the arrival of his boyfriend. He didn't understand his boyfriend's love of the the Quodpot game, it was never popular here in the UK but in America it was immensely popular. This was the problem with his boyfriend's love for the game. You had to go where it was popular to make any money. Quidditch would always be popular here though. There was absolutely no doubt about that.
”I'm fine, Rowyn. But if it makes you feel better, I'd be glad to get here quicker without all the stops and the headaches that come along with it.” ”Yes it would make me feel better, and it would be nice for you to be here faster than an airplane and without headaches. I'll speak to my parents and then I'll talk to Vincent, he's trying to become an Auror so I'm sure he can help pull some favors for us,” he said with a large smile. Vincent Greyback, the two shared the friend and while they hadn't seen too much of each other since leaving Hogwarts, they would still all be friends in the end though. He'll have to go visit Vincent when Wyatt leaves but for now he was all Wyatt's.
”I could ask you the same question – about being okay.” Rowyn chuckled. ”I'm fine, comes with the work, I turn down the potion healing, I've found it heals better on it's own. Just unfortunately it stays sorer longer, but I'll survive,” he said. Rowyn couldn't blame Wyatt for worrying. Rowyn did work with dragons after all. Not exactly the same as working at a grocery store. It was a dangerous line of work, and only some of the most skilled got to do it. Or maybe some of the stupidest got to do it. Either way Rowyn was very proud to be working with Dragons.
”Same old, really. The Quod explodes, or doesn't. People get marked off the field, or don't. I'm pretty sure the only way to beat the Sea Serpents is to confuse them long enough the Quod explodes.” That was always baffling to Rowyn. The Quod or the equivalent of a Quaffle exploded. Why would anyone play such a game? Then again why would anyone want to work with dragons? Maybe they both did stupid things. Rowyn gave a grin. ”I'm glad that it sounds like you're having fun. You're witty you can confuse them long enough, just don't let them catch on to you confusing them.”
”As for me, yes we just got a Hebridean Black female who laid an egg that's been extremely temperamental, she's my burn reason at the moment,” he said, ”one of my bloody stupid co-trainers managed to not be paying attention while I was doing a walk around on her to make sure all was well. She got out of grasp and well at least she didn't bite,” he said with a chuckle.
”You know, I could just ask to be moved to the United States, I mean Dragons are all over the world after all,” he told Wyatt, ”we could rent the flat out and get one in the United States. You wouldn't be nearly as tired.” He brought this up occasionally but for now he was here and Wyatt traveled back and forth. Maybe next time Rowyn got some time off he could go to America and visit the boy while he worked hard in practicing and playing the game of Quodpot. He gave a lean up and gave a gentle kiss on the lips. ”I'm glad to have you back,” he said when he pulled away.

When Wyatt had been younger, he had lived his life trying to make everything easier for his dad and for his siblings. Sure, he had had his jokes. He had been a doting older brother, especially towards Skye. Actually, if one asked his younger sisters, he often spent more time with her than he did with either of them…combine. He liked being needed, and the twins had always had one another to take care of each other. So, he had resolved to take care of Skye. Even now, he wondered how she was doing in Hogwarts – if she still felt odd, or if she needed something so he could send it to her. Part of the reason that Wyatt had become so smitten – so in love – with Rowyn was because the slightly shorter Gryffindor alumni had needed him almost as much as he had needed him. So, he had no qualms about doing whatever Rowyn asked him in order to make him happy. “The headaches don’t bother me much.” He said earnestly, rubbing at his head absently. As far as he was concerned, all he needed to do was get some rest, and he would be fine. If he had to deal with the headache tonight, he didn’t mind much because he knew that it meant he was going to be spending time with Rowyn. And, while his boyfriend had…unfortunately had to work tomorrow, Wyatt certainly did not. It meant that he could sleep in the next morning and work off the fatigue he had right now. He grinned, nodding his head. “I haven’t really gotten to speak to Vincent in a while. How’s he doing?” If he had to think about it, he owed everything to the old Ravenclaw.
If it hadn’t been for him, it was likely that Wyatt would have gone to America without ever acknowledging how he felt. He might not even have realized anything about him if it hadn’t been for that first kiss. His favorite kiss, however, had to be the first one he had had with Rowyn. And, then he had enjoyed every kiss that had come afterwards. Every time he was around him, it was like…someone was giving him a breath of fresh air. He didn’t mind the bruises and the headaches. What he liked to do was difficult, but he loved it. He loved every moment that he was here. And, while he worried, he didn’t worry nearly as much as Rowyn did. It was difficult, however, knowing that while he was out there getting pots blown up in his face; his boyfriend was battling and trying to take care of dragons. There were some nice ones in America, too, he had spoken to some blokes about it. He just didn’t want him to uproot his life here and move over there simply because that was where Wyatt was. “I can think of quick solutions for you being sore.” He grinned, joking around and wiggling his fingers in front of his face. If he needed him to give a massage, he didn’t mind doing it. Perhaps it was that he was too submissive. Perhaps it was that he liked to make his boyfriend’s life as easy as possible, but he always felt better once he saw Rowyn happy. “Trust me; if they were going to catch on to what we were doing, they would have done so by now. Their coach is unbelievable.”
It wasn’t that they made the same play every time, because they didn’t, but they did do it often enough the other team should have recognized something. That they didn’t proved how idiotic they were. He wanted to continue speaking about it, wanted to gush and talk about the sport he loved so much, but he managed to refrain himself from speaking and managed to nod along with him. He got most of the dragons all confused, especially when they all sounded the same, but he knew that Rowyn had been injured. His hand reached outward to cup his face, and his eyebrows furrowed in annoyance. Not toward his fellow Gryffindor alumni, but more towards the people who had let him get injured, especially when Wyatt wasn’t around to make sure that he was alright. “Are you alright?” He asked worriedly, letting his eyes trail over his body. “And, I’ve told you. I don’t want you to uproot your life just for me. It’s true that the Americas offer more money, but I’d have to play for England when the World Cup came around.” He shrugged his shoulders. It wasn’t a big deal. He didn’t mind traveling around. Besides, in America, he still probably wouldn’t spend so much time with him. They still had to travel from place to place. “I’m glad to be back, even if we’re both a little sore. I never miss you more than when I’m falling asleep.”

Rowyn had never had the experience of siblings or anyone even his age when he was a kid. Nothing compared to Wyatt who was close to his sisters. Rowyn was glad he had the friends that he did though because in the end they became brothers through the years at Hogwarts. People that he'd never lose contact with. This was one reason why he loved living with Wyatt even if he wasn't here all that often. Rowyn felt close to Wyatt and enjoyed sharing all the time that they had together. This was one reason he cared so very much for his boyfriend.
”The headaches don't bother me much.” Rowyn and Wyatt each shared a concern about the other and there was no doubt that Rowyn cared about the wear it put on Wyatt to travel back and forth from the United States and England. A frown came to his face. ”If you're not careful though you'll forget to check after apparating for limbs, I'm sorry you're completely capable I shouldn't sit here and tell you what you should and shouldn't do,” he said softly shaking his head.
”I haven't really gotten to speak to Vincent in a while. How's he doing?” Vincent Greyback, both Wyatt and Rowyn's best friend. Rowyn owed everything to Vincent. If Vincent hadn't kissed him, would Rowyn really even know who he was? Would he be here right now with Wyatt in his arms? Or maybe he'd just be alone working with dragons. Rowyn saw his friend who worked at the Ministry now, not as often as they used to but enough to say hello. ”He's doing well, at least last I heard, I'll need to remember to owl him for a meet up,” he said with a grin. Rowyn needed to remember to thank Vince as well about what he could. ”Maybe next time if I don't want you all to myself we can go visit,” he said with a smile.
Rowyn's face gained a large grin when Wyatt suggested a massage. ”Mmm... I think that sounds like a great idea,” he said. Of course that sounded awesome. His boyfriend giving him a massage, what more could a man ask for? ”Trust me; if they were going to catch on to what we were doing, they would have done so by now. Their coach is unbelievable.” Rowyn chuckled at the words. ”I will never understand what you mean when you describe the game of Quadpot,” he said with a smile. Quadpot was just a confusing game for him. But for spoiled Rowyn even Quidditch seemed a little barbaric to him. His game of choice was anything to do with horseback riding. He was raised up to be as prim and proper as possible which was what explained Rowyn to the tee.
”Are you alright? And I've told you. I don't want you to uproot your life just for me. It's true thaat the Americas offer more money, but I'd have to play for England when the World Cup came around.” Rowyn nodded. ”I'm fine, just a bit of a limp, it's to be expected, maybe I can pretend it is worse than it is and not go into work tomorrow though,” he chuckled. He gentle leaned up and kissed Wyatt. ”And I know that you don't want me to, but there are dragons across the pond. It's not as though I cannot keep up with my work. We don't even have to sell the house,” he said with a smile, ”but I understand, I'll stay here.”
Rowyn smiled when Wyatt told him that he didn't miss him more than when he was falling asleep. ”I'm glad,” he said, ”I miss being coddled when I'm sore. But I think I have to agree, falling asleep to an empty spot isn't exactly easy.” It was true. When you were used to spooning a person and holding them close, or even with just the heat that they put off under the blankets, well it felt incredibly weird not to have that person there. It was weird not having what you were used to. ”So is there anything you would like to absolutely do while you are back?” he asked with a smile.

Really, Rowyn was right to be worried. Perhaps it had never happened to him, but he knew some of his teammates had done the same thing. They apparated long distances to get to their homes. And, yes, it had been true that none of them travelled nearly as much as he did. Still, the idiotic bloke had been tired when he attempted his own trip. Most of him made it, but they hadn’t found the ring and pinkie fingers from his left hand. He still played every once in a while, but it was obvious that their coach was slowly winging him off. He wasn’t playing more and more often, opting instead of staying in his hometown. Wyatt didn’t mind much. In the long run, it just meant that he got to play some more. But, he did feel a little guilty for waving off his boyfriend’s concerns like that. It was the type of habit he normally fell for. “Nah. You’re just worried. I’d be worried if you didn’t.” It was something that the couple had in common, actually. They worried about each other. It was what made them so doting, he imagined. It was certainly the case when it came to him. Their time spent apart; it just made the Sloper more eager to return to his boyfriend and make sure that he was fine and nothing had gone wrong.
“Perhaps; I did promise my sisters I’d visit them.” He nodded his head vaguely, thinking back to the owl he had gotten from Skye. He was sure that she must be taking everything in stride…with only a couple of lapses in security. “Well, mostly Skye, but it wouldn’t hurt to drop in on the twins. Vincent would be a pit stop.” He shrugged his shoulders. Perhaps it was that Rowyn was just a smidgeon closer to Vincent than he was, but Wyatt enjoyed the company of their friend. “Don’t you mean if I don’t want you all to myself? I hardly get to see you. The last thing I’d want is to have to make nice with someone when I could be with you.” He reached over, turning Rowyn around just enough that he had easy access to his shoulders. Thankfully, all the practices had given him a better body than he had had in Hogwarts. Working out the knots and making sure he got the spots that easily formed those balls of stress because easier with every time that he did it. He also tried to work swiftly – he knew how painful it could be sometimes to work the nerves correctly. “It’s okay. I understand Quodpot, and you understand that…thing with the horses that don’t like me.”
If he did that, then Wyatt definitely wouldn’t want to roll out of bed in the morning. Sure, he’d manage to convince Rowyn to get a couple of more hours of sleep – because, the taller Gryffindor Alumni definitely needed it – but then it would mostly be because, admittedly, he’d want to cuddle and keep his boyfriend to himself in bed rather than go out into the social world. “If you do, I’ll never let you leave. You’ll want to get up, and I’ll just wrap my arms around you to pull you on me and fall back asleep.” He warned him, although Wyatt could think of little things that sounded better than that. No, he wasn’t the most romantic of guys, but he tried very hard to be sweet. “I can’t stop you from moving if you really want to, Rowyn. I just think there are better opportunities for you here than there.” But, of course, only he would think to call the Atlantic Ocean a mere pond. His mouth quirked into an amused smile. “Try hugging a pillow. I couldn’t harm it to hog all the blankets like you, either. I tried.” It just didn’t feel the same; like it was too artificial. “I could think of several things I’d like to do.” He said, half-jokingly but half serious. “But, not anything off the top of my head that I should probably do first.”

Maybe it wasn't fair that Rowyn worried so much about Wyatt. He was a competent wizard but loving someone meant that you cared a lot about the person. There was no one that Rowyn cared more about, well maybe other than his parents. Rowyn worried that sometime Wyatt wouldn't come home with a limb, it was a fair worry, but maybe there was some point where he shouldn't speak of it. ”Well let me do that with the portkey and then I won't worry as much,” he told him softly. That was when he took the opportunity to lean up and give Wyatt a kiss on the lips before he turned to go find some food. Wyatt must be hungry after all.
He listened to Wyatt as he spoke of his sisters that he was going to visit at least Skye. Rowyn smiled softly and nodded in agreement. Visiting them would be a great. ”Don't you mean if I don't want you all to myself? I hardly get to see you. The last thing I'd want is to have to make nice with someone when I could be with you.” Rowyn grinned from ear to ear as his boyfriend's hands made way to work those stress balls out of shoulder. It felt so amazing. ”No, we should take some time sometimes and visit friends, if you only got me when you got here you'd never see anyone else, that sounds good, visiting your sisters and then seeing Vince, or before or after,” he said with a smile. His mind got distracted when Wyatt began the massage. It felt so good and once Wyatt finished he could continue trying to make food. Rowyn had pretty much grown up with Vince and he'd helped Rowyn out very often.
”That's not true, just most of them don't like you,” he chuckled. ”I guess we're two ends of the spectrum, and speaking of horses though, since you won't let me move to America for you, I will be moving some of my horses here, I have some people coming in to help put a proper fence up for us so I can start competing again,” he told him. He turned around and gave Wyatt another kiss and grinned. ”I hope you don't mind,” he said softly. Rowyn had been raised in money, his entire childhood gave him what he needed and wanted. He was raised to be the way that he was. He wasn't necessarily a selfish person but he didn't often think of asking questions when they crossed his mind. It was more he was going to do this and not much was going to stop him. He was a very stubborn human being.
”If you do, I'll never let you leave. You'll want to get up, and I'll just wrap my arms around you to pull you on me and fall back asleep.” ”I guess I am teddy bear sized for you,” he chuckled and shook his head. ”I'm okay, I'll survive here, you're right, you won't always be there,” he said with a slight smile, ”I'm coming to visit sometime though,” he said.
