It was a fact that Katrina and Bryce were going to the dance as friends. It had been well established. Kat was cool with it, and as far as she knew, Bryce was cool with it. There were a few ignorant gossipers here and there who tried to make out like she was breaking up with Cole, but they were quickly silenced by those who knew they were full of it. That mild drama aside, Kat looked forward to a fun night with one of her few male friends.
Kat dressed nicely for the occasion, a dark green dress and low matching heels. She did her hair up and put a little make-up on. She didn't over do it or anything, but it made her face beam. She wasn't really worried about what Bryce decided to dress in. Again, this "date" was all in good fun. Even if he just wore his school attire, she was good with it.
Kat looked over the buffet. It was the same party stuff- appetizers and punch. But Kat was a bit hungry and decided to go for the seafood and crab dip. Dipping it and grabbing some crackers, she munched on that as she awaited Bryce.

One thing Bryce could be assured of when hanging with Kat was that no Slytherin would dare mess with him. For one, many a Slytherin boy knew that Kat had a mean right cross. For two, Kat was the girlfriend of Cole Nott, who was the nephew of the Minister of Magic himself, Draco Malfoy. Even those who disliked the Ministry respected that connection.
Kat was thrown off by Bryce not wearing the glasses, and with him being her friend, she already planned to get them back for him. Still she thought he looked nice and decided not to bring the matter up for now.
"Hey Bryce," she said. "You look good there. Want some punch or some of this seafood stuff. I didn't make it or bring it or anything, so I don't know why I'm offering to you like I did, but... hey I'm rambling. Let's take some of this fine feast over to a table." Kat then went about getting some more appetizers, being a bit picky as usual. Sometimes even appetizers produced by magic didn't look all that appealing.

Kat smirked at Bryce and his always unique personality. The pretzels were really good though. They were the big, baked ones, not the tiny ones Muggles ate from a bag. Kat grabbed one to add to her plate and made her way over to a table. She was game for dancing and all that, but she was getting some energy first. As she ate, she looked over Bryce again. He did look really nice. If he was anything like her, he was one who was used to dressing pretty standard and not all fancy. Even though she was taken, she did kind of hope he would say something about her outfit too.
"So... here we are... at the big dance," she said, trying to think of something to converse about. "So what do you think of the two Slytherin champions? Thinking they'll pull this tournament off?" Kat wasn't someone who was all "Woo-hoo, look at me I'm Slytherin", but it was a little amusing rooting for the House representatives in all of this, not that Kat was one to passionately root... well unless you counted Cole when he played for the Arrows.

Kat shrugged about making assumptions about the teammates.
"I guess one shouldn't," she said to Bryce. "Actually I couldn't think of anything else to talk about." Kat was an upfront person.
Kat nodded about the reasoning behind them being chosen.
"Well Potter being picked... well that's kind of obvious with his dad and all," she said. "Being raised in that home, I'm sure that he picked up some skills. I mean, his dad killed the greatest dark wizard of all time and all that." Kat actually had a lot of respect for the famous Potters and Weasleys. The family saved their generation from who knows what kind of darkness. Even as a Pureblood, she felt she wouldn't be too happy in a Voldemort-ran world.
She then nodded again when Bryce said they would just have to come and watch.
"We'll probably have to," she smirked. "But for now, you want to go out to that dance floor and show me what you can do?" Kat didn't know why she wanted to dance. She just felt like dancing for a little while.

Kat hadn't said much about it, but with the Headmistress' disappearance, she had wondered what exactly was going on. She read the Daily Prophet a great deal too and had learned, like many, of the existence of some Dark Lady. She had heard about the attacks on the Potter and Weasley kids. Kat wasn't selfish or anything, but also felt that there was no point in dwelling on such news to the point where it prevented one from living one's life.
"I'm sure it won't be as bad as it was in the Battle of Hogwarts with 'He Who We Apparently Still Should Not Name'. I mean, I've met Draco Malfoy. He's my boyfriend's uncle. He seems like he won't just stand around if it gets really bad."
Kat them smiled a little when Bryce asked if he could have this dance.
"Yeah, yeah, don't get sappy," she said, joking with him of course. She took his hand and headed out to the dance floor with him. Once they were to begin dancing, she thought of an interesting question she hadn't asked him yet.
"So if you don't mind me asking, and you don't have to answer if you don't feel like it or anything, what's it like to be in the Rosier family?" she asked. "I mean, you kind of stand out from some of them, but like in a good way."

Kat smirked at Bryce when he said he was acting like some others did in social situations.
"Well no wonder you were starting to bore me," she joked. "Just be Bryce. I like Bryce. You're one of the few guys in Slytherin who act half way normal."
Kat listened as Bryce spoke about his family. As she did, she wondered what it might have been like having a brother or sister. Could it be like having good friends, because she of course felt a bond with those like Thalia, Ali, Sofie, Bryce, and of course Cole... well not Cole in the sibling-sense. That would have been awkward.
"Just remember at the end of the day, they are your family and you've only got one," she said. "Even if it is big." Kat sighed a bit, wondering if she could talk about what she wanted to talk about next. She finally decided to, as she knew Bryce was one she could speak to. "My family was pretty much my mum. Sometimes I wonder if I didn't appreciate her as much as I should have when she was alive. Guess i shouldn't think like that though. That stuff can eat people up."
Kat smiled at Bryce when he said he wanted to become a monk.
"Well, if you do, the ladies are definitely going to miss out on a great guy," she said. "Don't think I'm weird or anything by saying this, but if I hadn't met Cole last year... hell, who knows? I would have probably given you a shot."
