Dog Walk and Old Friend Talk (Thomas)

(Talked to Donalda's RPer about the deal with Boris earlier)

Vanessa loved her boss, Donalda Zephyr. The woman was not only just a sweet woman in general, but she let Vanessa bring her Siberian Husky Boris to work with her. The younger customers enjoyed that as well as Boris was a big sweetheart and especially loved kids. He seemed to get along with the other animals at the Menagerie as well.

Vanessa headed to work, yawning as she didn't get much sleep the night before. Another bad dream compliments of her past and a family she was happy she left behind. However, a wide awake Boris kept her on her feet as he pulled her via the leash.

"Slow down, Boris," she chuckled. "You're more excited to get to work than I am. You had your breakfast, and now it's time for mine." She gave him a pat on the head before heading into the Bonfire Bakery. Fortunately, Donalda's husband Alpin Zephyr also allowed pets in the bakery as long as they didn't go nutters and make a mess of things. Boris certainly didn't. She walked in, got a danish and a paper cup of hot tea to help perk her up, chatted a moment with Alpin, and then stepped back out.

Thomas was making his way through Diagon Alley early this morning to pick up some supplies that he would need for the next few weeks. He was going to be heading to Hogwarts in the next few days to be helping with the patrols around the castle, and that meant he would be staying there for a few weeks time at least. Of course there was the possibility of shopping in Hogsmeade for things while he was there, but he was preparing early in Diagon Alley to be better prepared when he arrived.

As he was making his way along the alley he spotted a very familiar person who he hadn't seen since he had finished at Hogwarts. "Vanessa!" he called out, hurrying to catch up to her. "Hey! Long time no see! How are you going?" he asked her enthusiastically.

Vanessa had just took a big bite of her danish when she was pleasantly surprised by the sight of Thomas. Vanessa's strong friendship with Freddie also allowed her the pleasure of befriending a few of the other Weasleys, including Thomas of course.

"Thomas!" she said with her mouth full. She then did a close-mouthed laugh. "Sorry, one minute." She sipped some tea and swallowed the food. "Thomas, how are you? I'd hug you, but I have a cup and danish in one hand, and I'm holding on to this big guy here with the other." Boris now sat and looked at Thomas happily. He didn't know the man, but could sense Thomas and Vanessa were friends. "This is Boris. I work at the Menagerie now, and Boris... well he sits around behind the counter there and watches me work." She then smiled at him. "So George Weasley told me you're training to be an Auror. That's awesome." Vanessa learned this a while back when he conversed with George while waiting to meet up with Freddie. "I know you'll be a great one."

Vanessa had been in the same year and house as Thomas at Hogwarts, so the two knew each other reasonably well through that. He laughed as she tried to respond to him with a mouth full of danish. "I'm doing well thanks! And don't worry about the hug, it's clear your hands are full at the moment," he said with a chuckle. "Oh, you work at the Menagerie? That's great," he said as he crouched down and stroked Boris behind the ears. "Yeah, I'm training up at the moment! We're actually all going back to Hogwarts in a few days to do some patrols around the castle - it's the first actual job I've been able to do which hasn't just been a training assignment," he said with a smile. It probably wouldn't be exciting work, but there was the chance that something could happen that he would have to deal with, and he felt like he was ready for that. He wanted to be challenged and stretched. "How have you been?" he asked.

Vanessa chuckled again when Thomas said not to worry about the hug.

"I promise I'll give you one before we part," she said. "I've really missed you. You and Freddie really made me feel special in school and I've never forgotten that. I visit Freddie all the time since we work so close together."

Boris ate up the attention Thomas gave him. He was as friendly as his mistress.

"Looks like you both have made fast friends," smiled Vanessa. "Boris is like that though."

Vanessa raised an eyebrow about Hogwarts. She had heard the horrible news about what happened there and it haunted her knowing some of her birth family could have been involved. She had no doubt her cousin Cora was, given the news of her escape from Azkaban.

"Back to Hogwarts so soon, eh?" she said with a slight laugh, though there was that hint of grim in her voice. "I bet it will be nice to see others again. I hope you'll be care..."

Vanessa paused when in the distance she spotted Dathan Burke making his way into Knockturn. She shuddered a little until he disappeared into the wicked place.

"Careful there," she finished, looking back at Thomas.
