Ben walked into the room where someone from the Daily Prophet awaited. Ben was nervous as he had never talked to someone about his life before. What questions would he ask? There wasn't that much that happened in the seventeen year old's life. Would he have to talk about the recent attacks? He hoped not as he had had friends that had been hurt and impacted by them. It was still a sore subject really. Ben was told where to sit down at and he went over to the comfortable chair and sat down. Soon the reporter came and sat down across from him. Could the guy tell that Ben was nervous? He hoped not. He thought he could feel sweat pour down his face but Ben did get nervous, shy, and sometimes awkward when put into nerve wracking situations. Ben did his best to straighten the tie he wore, the one his sister practically made him wear.
The reporter moved some stuff around placing it in a certain order. Benjamin watched him wondering what he was doing. "Oh having things in a certain order helps me concentrate better" said the man. Ben wondered if the guy has OCD or something. After everything was done the reporter finally took the parchment and quill, crossing his legs and getting all settled. "Now then please state your full name, age, birthday, blood status, house at Hogwarts, and your wand for us please."
"Well my name is Benjamin Gadriel Sanders, but most people call me Ben. Let's see I am seventeen years old now and a seventh year Hufflepuff at Hogwarts. My birthday is July fourth and like my siblings I am a halfblood. My wand is eleven inches, made out of apple wood, and has a core of dragon heartstring." Ben talked fast and all nervous. One would wondered if he should even be doing this interview but the Prophet had did a random pick and his name was one of the names drawn from all the students at Hogwarts. Benjamin was still trying to figure out why he was chosen as well. Their was nothing special about him. If the guy wanted something great to put in the paper along with the other students he should have gotten another non ordinary guy in Benjamin's mind.
Ben watched as the reporter wrote all this down as he smiled and said "this is an excellent start." Ben nodded still nervous like everything. He straightened the tie again trying to keep calm. The reporter smiled at Ben and said "don't worry son this will all be over soon. It will also be painless." He smiled a little at Ben. Ben of course nodded to him hoping he was right. "Alright so next question is about your likes and your dislikes. How would you describe yourself, your personality.
"Well let's see. How would I describe myself and what I like and such? That is a good question" Ben said as he smiled. He ran a hand through his hair and said "well I guess first let's start with naming some stuff I like. I uhmm...I like to read, a lot. I like to study and hang out with the little bit of friends I do have. I don't do much activity because I was born premature so I get sick a lot and if I do too much activity it will get hard to breathe so I have never been able to play quidditch. I love watching quidditch though. What I really like to do is write. I love writing, though others try to get me to write their essays for them. That is what I am really passionate about. I like music and drawing. That is pretty much it for what I like."
He took a sip of the water in front of him before continuing. "What I don't like is how some people think they are better than others because of their blood status. Like what is going on with the Dark Lady and what she is doing and her followers. They think they are better than others and their are some at school who think that as well. I think their parents have those ideals and they believe it because that was how they were raised and their parents were as well before them. I hate that we can't all get along that one person has to start an idea and others follow through with it and it continues for years. It just isn't right really" he said and then continued after that saying "other things I don't like is other students cheating, uhmm...peanut butter well that is more of an allergic thing. I can't have anything with peanuts in it or I could die, well that's what I've been told. I have made sure not to have anything with peanuts in it. What else let's see I don't like divination class or transfiguration. I am not good at those classes. I dropped divination and changed it to Care of Magical Creatures. I just don't see Divination being a class I needed."
"Now as for my personality I would sum it up in a few words it would be musical, artistic, sort of smart, curious, shy, and a charmer (sometimes). I am also very patient and I can keep a level head. There are some people who can't and I am friends with a few of them" Ben said with a slight smile. I might even be in love with one of them he thought to himself and a slight blush came upon his face. The reporter saw it as well as he quickly asked "what is the blush for Benjamin." Ben shrugged and said smiling "well there is a girl that I am friends with who I really like and she is not level headed at all. She has a fierce temper when you make her mad. She can handle herself in a pinch."
The reporter smiled at Ben and said "now that we have talked about a girl you might like. Let's talk about your family." Ben gave the guy a look. His family really. He loved his family but sometimes that subject could get a little complicated. "Well let's see...how would I explain my family. Well I have my mother and my father of course. They are great. My dead trains quidditch players for a living so I have always been around quidditch even if I can't play myself. I love to watch it. My mom is a journalist and I guess that is where I get my love of writing from. I have a good few siblings. Let's see two older half brothers, an older sister, and a younger brother. We are all pretty close and I always hope that I set a good enough example for my little brother as my older siblings have done for me. I love all of my siblings and no one is allowed to mess with them except me" Ben said and then chuckled a bit.
"So tell me about your Hogwarts schooling so far. I understand you are a Hufflepuff and in your last year there" the reporter said. "Yeah I am in my seventh and final year there. Mostly I did what some kids do which is study, get good grades, and watch the quidditch matches while cheering on my house. Of course I always want Hufflepuff to win the House cup as well. When I had first gotten to Hogwarts it was amazing. My first year went as well as could be expected. Three of my siblings, my half-brothers and my older sister, were already there and they looked out for me you know guided me. I got lost a few times in that castle but who hasn't in their first year right" Ben said with a laugh. "Basically it got better though and I have always tried to help my little brother and other younger students out though I have never been able to stand up to the bullies. I have had to visit the hospital wing a few times because of some health problems that come with the condition I was born with. It's a little hard to say but really no activity that involves me running or anything like that is good for me. It gets hard for me to breathe sometimes and yes my family has worried over it a bit but I have gotten used to it by now" he said. The reporter frowned and said "sounds serious." Ben just shrugged and said "it is if I am not careful, but I always am so it's nothing big. Doesn't stop my mom from sending constant owls checking up on me though." Ben smiled as he did love his mother. "So let's see I studied hard all year, nothing big really happened to me. I did well on my OWLs except for transfiguration which I have told you I am horrible at. I got an slightly passing grade in that subject and I am currently studying hard for my NEWT exams" he said.
"So what do you plan on doing after graduation, have you figured that out yet Benjamin" he asked. "Yes I want to write for the Daily Prophet. Of course I also want to write my own book as well but I do want to be a journalist like my mother. Maybe I will be sitting on a couch just like you interviewing some students as well" he said with a smile. The reporter smiled back of course and nodded saying "I can't wait to read any articles you write I know they will be fantastic it was a pleasure talking to you Benjamin Sanders." Ben stood and shook the mans hand saying "thank you this was more fun than I had originally thought it would be sir." Ben exited the room as he was directed once the interview was over. He left heading back to Hogwarts and the common room where he would continue working on the book he had already started at the end of the previous school year.
