PERSONALITY:
BRAINS AND SASS - MJ is a smart girl, and she isn't afraid to flaunt it. She is kind of cocky about it actually, but not intentionally. She likes to pick the brains of others and talk to them about long in-depth topics, and sometimes will belittle people if they can't keep up. She is very sassy and sarcastic, and more often then not will I've a witty response laced with some dry humor. She likes word play, but isn't necessarily good at it. She is too honest and straight forward to play games.
STUBBORN AND SHORT FUSE - MJ is very stubborn. When faced with a challenge she sees it through to the end, no matter how hard it is. If she fails she keeps trying, if she succeeds it is just something else under her belt. She also has a short fuse and really hates failing. So more often then not if she fails the first time at something she will throw a tantrum. She also will never ever accept help. She hates it and hates feeling like she has to depend on others. She is an independent person and with that comes certain drawbacks.
PLAYFUL AND CLUELESS - MJ is playful when she lets loose. A lot of times she tends to be serious, especially with her job, but when she has the chance she likes to have a good time. She isn't very good at flirting, but likes to laugh. So she will often laugh at things even if they aren't that funny. Social interactions tend to be her downfall; for someone who has an obsession with the human mind she really has no idea how to understand people. She is kind of socially awkward, and when it comes to romance she has no clue. She doesn't have much practice, all of her relationships tend to crash and burn when she says something .. strange.
IMAGINATIVE AND DREAMER - MJ is a big dreamer. She doesn't dream as much as she use to, but back in school she often find herself lost in her train of thoughts. Her dreamer status was enhanced by how much of an imagination she had, always thinking up the most intricate details of the worlds she would find herself lost in. If you were to look at any of her drawings there is such incredible detail, everything down to the last line. MJ is a bit of a perfectionist, and more often then not will make sure everything is flawless before calling it done. This trait follows her to her job.
Despite all her good traits MJ does have a menacing dark undertone to her. It doesn't pop out very often, but every now and again you can see that part of her strives to control and be in power over others.

HISTORY:
MJ was born on the outskirts of London in a nice, stereotypical house. It had a white picket fence, a nice big yard and was located in a muggle part of town. MJ was the second born child to Ari and Maxwell Fox, coming eight years after her brother Ben. Benjamin, as a result was always very protective of his sister since the day she was born. After all he was big brother and she was the little sister.
Growing up in a muggle area MJ was groomed from a young age to be tolerant of muggles and muggleborns. Her parents both had a very firm stance on justice, and held their morales close. The instilled these beliefs into their kids, and while it stuck very well with Ben it didn't stick as well with MJ. She was a free spirit since birth, always born to follow her own path. Though she holds no prejudices she isn't a freedom fighter. To each his own.
Her childhood was very normal. Growing up she didn't see too much of her brother, considering he was in Hogwarts but the time she was potty trained. She did miss him though, and whenever he was home on summer break or christmas break he would tell her all the tales of his life at school, filling her imagination with dragons, merpeople, the giant squid and a room that granted it's user whatever they desired. To some extent you could blame her imagination on her brother, but MJ always had a creative mind and a flair for the arts, which is something she applied to her everyday life. She doodled often as a kid, and as she got older she took her drawing more seriously but as a hobby more then anything else. She liked things she could really pour detail into, and often spent months at a time working on one drawing.
By the time she was eleven years old she had experienced magic for the first time when she made one of her drawings animate, and was off to Hogwarts. She spent the train ride alone, considering her brother had already graduated. However MJ didn't have a hard time making friends. She was always very open, but sometimes her confrontational and blunt behavior turned people off to her. During the sorting ceremony she was placed in Ravenclaw, just like her father, and quickly escalated to the top of her class with grades. MJ loved to learn. She soaked up everything she could like a sponge, and instead of being social like a normal girl hitting puberty she spent her time reading books. She was always very thin and awkward looking anyway, up until she did hit that magical age. By then her body was starting to change, and with it came surprisingly attributes.
Still, even when she started to gain attention from the male population she didn't date too much. It wasn't her main goal. Everyone in her family had a very successful career, and while her mother was hopeful that MJ would follow in her footsteps and become a healer MJ took more to a path in the ministry. By her 5th year she already knew what it was she wanted to do, studying memory charms in her Charms class and doing a little extra reading on Legilimency. She was always fascinated by how the human mind worked, and it was only obvious that she pick a career that could help her navigate it, and if she wanted to plant completely new memories into someone's head. A little twisted, but the idea of having that kind of control over someone exhilarated her. So she quickly put herself on the path to become an obliviator. Though her grades would have been enough to secure her a job she wanted to go above and beyond, so before going to apply at the ministry she went to university.
MJ, as she was with school in general, did very well. She loved every second of it, and being able to get hands on practice with her chosen career was the best experience she could get. She also got to use her creative spark to make the most intricate memories for a person she uses her talents on. But eventually, after a year of schooling she grew kind of tired with using just the same old memory charms. So, after reading up on Legilimency for a few months she started to practice it out on some of her subjects. It was a slow moving process. It took her at least three months to be able to even invade someone's mind, and it took her over a year to learn to become skillful with it. But she had constant practice, able to easily use people she was ordered to erase the memories of for her practice. Now, at age 24 she is very proficient, but not as skilled as a lot of others out there she is sure.
She has just graduated from the University and has secured her job in the Ministry. She has been working there for about three months, and so far loves it.
