A whole life was described in a single painting. A painting Audrey Weasley had made while pregnant with her twin daughters. A painting that was her past, present, and future. It stayed in the garage second floor which Audrey had claimed as her private area since the day they bought the house.
The painting was of a white dove with the tip of its wings tinged black inside of an iron bar caged but with the key hanging on a perch outside of the cage door. The background was mirrors reflecting the cage in all directions but there was a hole at the very top the perfect size for the dove. The beauty is in its simplicity but let complexity.
The meaning of the painting goes deep into who Audrey is. Each detail had a profound meaning to her. She would never share this painting for that reason. No one could ever appreciate it the same as she does. No one understands it as much as she does.
The Dove: The young sweet, innocent girl that Audrey was. Carefree and naïve. Full of untainted love for the world.
The Black Tipped Wings: The darkness that had swallowed Audrey after the murder of her parents. The time in her life were she crossed the bridge from childhood to adulthood. The dark period in her life were she learned the dark arts.
The Cage: The guilt and expectations that overshadow Audrey. The guilt of being the reasons her parents were dead, she had to refuse to join the Death Eaters. The guilt of using the dark arts. The heavy expectations of her father for her being the last Martin to be born. The exceptions of her mother for her to empower others.
The Mirrors: The past haunting her never allowing her to move on. Seeing only the surface of herself not the gentle-hearted person she was deep inside. She could only see the war hardened woman that is willing to push aside morals to protect her family and for the greater good. The mirrors are what hold her back.
The Keys: Audrey’s children and the hope. Audrey’s children give her a reason to keep waking up every day. The hope that one day she can reach the keys of the cage and finally be free from her past and guilt.
The Hole: Freedom and Audrey’s true self. A better her that can only be achieved if she pushes herself to face all that holds her back and is able to overcome it. The brighter future that awaits.
Audrey has many paintings but none are nearly as deep as ‘The Dove’. It is just a hobby that she uses to help her deal with her seer abilities. She is able to direct her frustration, fear, and guilt into paintings. She is sometimes even able to paint future events. She discovered it right before her father shipped her off to Beauxbatons. It was the only thing that helped her with her ability. No potion, spell, or person could ever help her the same way.
Audrey wasn’t aware of the fact that soon the dove would no longer be in the cage and would be free. It was reaching for they keys and would unlock the door. She was finally going back into the workforce and using money her Aunt Annalise had left her to invest with and going after her dreams not caring what her husband thought, though she knows that he will support her after he realized she was serious and that he could see past his conservative beliefs.
Besides ‘The Dove’ there was another huge part of Audrey that remained in the master bedroom in a box filled with her childhood journals, photographs, and the Martin family photo album. There was a jar filled with pieces of paper. Sometimes she’d open and read the writing on the slips of paper. Each slip of paper were secrets, confessions, or truths of herself and Percy. They had made it when their twins were about two and their marriage was past the honeymoon stage and it was a bit rocky. Without the jar, she doesn’t know if they would still be married. Who would have known a jar could give more passion and love in a marriage then it had in the beginning.
Audrey truthfully and completely loved her husband. She has been asked by her childhood friends what she sees in her husband. She never answers because she knows and that’s all that matters. She can see past the narcissism and ambition and see the man that works hard to give to his kids what he never had. Even before the kids he always doing things for Audrey even when she told him not to. He was one of those boyfriends that showed up in the middle of the night or whenever he got done with work with flowers and chocolates. She never knows what he is going to do next. He had saved her from herself and she had saved him from himself. Though they’ve had their ups and downs and few hiccups they managed to stay together.
Love is a very powerful thing that Audrey doesn’t hand out to everyone. She loves her kids with all her heart. She didn’t care what they through at her, she would always love them even if they hurt her, which she doubts would ever happen. No matter what her kids did wrong, or how twisted their life future paths will get she will always be there even when they don’t want her to be. She loves Percy. She loves her pets, they just win over her heart. She also has a love for the world and its people. She always has enjoyed meeting new people and going to new places. Maybe being sent off to France for school had opened up her mind in that aspect.
Becoming a mother was the greatest gift of all for Audrey. From the second she found out she was pregnant she vowed to be a better mother than what her own was, whom lacked maternal instinct. She knew in her heart that she had already succeeded that vow despite the fact that motherhood is never over. Would she like more children? Yes. Why didn’t she? She was afraid. After the twins the healers told her another pregnancy would be risky for her. She was rather lean for 170 cm. They just didn’t know if her body could handle another pregnancy. Sometimes she tries to bring it up with Percy but sometimes talking to him is like taking to a wall. Though she is past prime childrearing days doesn’t mean that adoption was out of the question. Getting Percy on board was the hard part.
Audrey keeps slowly herself down reminded herself one adventure at a time. When she took her Aunt’s inheritance and invested it by buying Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream that had been on the market for a very long time. Having her own mother owning a muggle bakery when she was child inspired her to take on a new adventure in a similar field.
Audrey has a brother named Andrew that lives in France and has two sons named Zavier and Jacques. Her sister-in-law, Maria, died giving birth to Jacques. Andrew is thinking of coming back to England and uprooting his children and career. Besides Andrew Audrey has no living family members being her Aunt Annalise died a week after Percy and Audrey’s wedding.
