When Nienna said she loved Thad as well, he simply kissed her. It was such an odd and brilliant feeling- love. Thad had truly never loved another until he met Nienna. He didn't love anyone in his family. He had friends, but he hardly cared for any of them. He didn't love anyone he had originally met in the Black Army. But he did love now. He loved Nienna with all his heart, and for her he did indeed have a heart.
Thad listened to her beautiful words before they kissed again. Each kiss was sweeter than the last.
"And I can think of no greater quest, no finer mission than to protect you," he whispered. "I dedicate my all to you."
When she agreed that they would stay there the night, Thad said no more, but just held her, stroking her hair and looking at nothing in particular as he thought of what was ahead. He thought out until he eventually slipped off to sleep, content and at peace with the one and only one he loved.
