Thad had been thinking a few days following his talk with Anna. He'd been thinking of what all was said about the part the students in the Black Army played. Were they just minions, warned to do their part and never argue? Were they to be put on trial by the Dark Lady every time a traitor was suspected? Were they built up to be major players in a game where in reality they were mere pawns. This weighed heavily on Thad's mind now, especially since he had fallen in love with a girl he deeply cared for. Yes, it was true, at long last, that even a young monster like Thad has a soft side. Now his primary goal in life was to protect Anna from any and all harm- to her body, her mind, and her spirit. Thad used a secret method of messaging to contact the other youths in the Black Army. He wanted to know their thoughts. True, he didn't like many of them and they didn't like him, but when it all came down to it, would the youths need to stand strong together when it was time to defy others... perhaps even the Dark Lady herself if it came to that. Her lips trembled; yet those green eyes blazed bright and alert, likened to those of a hawk's. Intense, almost deranged stare fell on the pages laid bare before her, the dark book settled snugly in her lap while she sat on the tender grasses of spring, alone.
What the crackle in the wind had said brought Anna to her feet at once; she closed her book eagerly, forgetting which line was last, striding with determination toward the dungeons, where the call had beckoned her.
There she saw Thad, and she needed not to scan around the space to see that none other had arrived. Anna stepped closer to him, her gaze unfaltering, and sensed his slight uneasiness as the questions repeated themselves in his mind. "What matters of import riddle your thoughts, love?" asked Anna, her gaze softening at the sight of her lover, her mind remaining sharp in her intentions. THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY
