HISTORY:
If it had been up to her father, Melanie and her brother would have been home schooled all their lives by him. As far she could remember he had always been that way. Their father believed that no one else was good enough to teach his children than him. Melanie was born in the small town of Innsbruck, Austria. It was a mountain town and it brought along her affection to snow and cold weather. She grew up as an only child until she was six years old and her mother announced that she was going to have another baby. Her younger brother was born right after Melanie had turned seven years old and she had always been rather fond of him. He had been her best friend and her playmate until she had gone off to Hogwarts.
When she was 11 years old, Mel got her acceptance letter to Hogwarts and her mother insisted it would be better for her to go there than to stay at home. Melanie, who had been cooped up inside the house for the past 11 years, was more than excited to get out of the house and go to school in a new, exciting, warm place. Upon arrival to Hogwarts, Mel was placed into Hufflepuff house, something that was neither frowned upon, nor thought highly of by her parents. Her mother had been a Ravenclaw and her father had been educated at Durmstrang Institute. Mel was the first Hufflepuff in her family and she soon discovered that she was proud to be so. She met a few wonderful friends during her seven years as a student and was always in the top percentile in all of her classes. Her Hogwarts experience had been a good one that was for sure. The world was in a state of calm, the war was over and it didn’t look like another was approaching.
Melanie graduated Hogwarts five years back and since then had been working at Honeydukes Sweetshop in Hogsmead Village, a place she had always loved as a student. After working there for two years, her father had given her the money to buy the shop. Her family had been rather well off, though, Mel always hated accepting money from her father. Mel hadn’t changed the shop much after she bought it, but she had hired on people to create new candies that she was sure the children would love. Mel always thought of her as a kind soul and had always been kind to the kids who came down to the village on the weekends. A part of her wanted to move back to Austria right away after Hogwarts, she had learned during her years that she wasn’t a fan of the warm weather and wanted to go back to the endless months of snow. But Scotland did have a lot of rain, and she had learned to live with that. So, the girl lived in a house by herself in the residential part of the village and was rather pleased with the way her life had turned out so far.
