don't think this is innocent
If Jason really just wanted a date just to have a date, that would have been easy. Someone he liked more than others? That was harder. Jason had so many women in his life that picking one was hard. Not to mention that he had fantastic taste, which meant other guys were also looking at the same girl. A hard competition really. Anyone who knew Jason knew at the least bit, he was extremely competitive. When he wanted something, he worked hard for it. Saying something considering Jason didn’t like working hard for just about anything. School work? Please. As long as he didn’t end up being an idiot, who cared what his grades marked him as? It was probably one of the traits that made him so irritable to other teachers. Jason understood. If he were a professor, and there was a bunch of lame ass students who didn’t want to be there, he would be frustrated too. However, considering they chose the profession they did, he didn’t feel sorry for them. It was what they got themselves into, honestly.
So that’s why Thalia was something he could brag about. Jason loved to brag. Loved it. When other people rattled something off, he would get irritated for the very same reason- he wanted to be the only one able to brag. To show what he had with or without work. Though he was going to try his best to calm it down when he was with her. Getting smacked aside the head really wasn’t one of his goals for this evening. Indeed, he had goals. Not the same goals as usual though- don’t get him wrong. Jason was prepared to be a proper date and gentleman. Not running off with someone else (even if he may chat with Malory, but since he heard that fucking James Potter was all over her, he wasn’t sure he was in the mood), not hitting on her to see if he could get lucky that night. Just to be a proper date. Probably the very rare occasions where Jason Albers was like that. Once one had a bad reputation of being a bad date, it was all downhill, even if it was his last year of Hogwarts. He wanted people to say ‘he’s such an ass when it comes to girls… though he does make an excellent date’ Perfect title. Perfect.
Who would have thought out of all the people, he would also be going out with a Slytherin? Jason tried his best not to be bias against the houses, but so many Slytherins were just a bunch of prideful gits. Not liking someone because of their background. Being a muggle born, one could see why Jason was so irritated about it. He couldn’t count how many number of times he talked to someone who put their nose in the air because he wasn’t the right kind of blood. Plus, Malory was bullied by them for some time when she was younger. All those factors making a very unhappy boy, but here he was. Waiting for a Nott, out of all of his choices. She was different though. Insanely attractive- always the main point of his investigation, but personality was the thing that made them different from each other. Thalia was smart, she was determined. Strong. Proud. Most of all, she didn’t look down upon him. At least, that he knew of. For all Jason was sure of, she could have just not known, but by first impression, she didn’t seem like the type. Though he supposed he had been wrong in the past.

He stood at the entrance- not wanting to go anywhere near the dungeon to go and pick her up- waiting to see the platinum blonde hair walk past. He was all spiffy, in his tight tux and black plain mask in order to match his date (which she was wearing black and white, he believed, so he looked around for that). Jason wanted to make sure he arrived early, which was not his usual, and at that moment, he realized why. The outfit was hot. Unbelievably hot, and it was getting worse with the amount of people they were putting in there. Though beautiful magic forces were lighting and decorating the room. Even after all these years, Jason sometimes could never get over how brilliant magic was. In a world he previously thought didn’t exist to now. Sometimes, he still felt like he was caught up in this amazing dream. He also wished he were better at magic, but perhaps it had to do with the amount of effort he put into it. All the classes that dealt with history and reading and stuff didn’t interest him. He wanted to do magic. Play with magic. Still trying to contain himself when he was home and not show it off to absolutely everyone he knew.
Finally, he spotted her. With a smirk on his face, he knew that he had made the right choice in asking her. Not even sure that she would say yes to the offer considering the pair hadn’t seen each other too many times, but it was always nice to get to know someone else, right? Walking up to her with a confident stride, he offered his hand, ”Ah, you look dazzling. I knew I made the right choice,” Winking at her, noticing that her dress wasn’t quite like anyone elses’. That he liked. Didn’t blend it with all the others, or have scary similar cases. No, this. This was something he could put around his arm proudly and walk with the manly strut he was indeed very known for.
