so there was one thing that he didn't want to believe. that his father had just left him. it wasn't like his father. alright so it was but it wasn't something that jake wanted to believe that he'd do. but after about the fifth owl his father hadn't answered from him jake was starting to think that it might be true. his father had been gone for weeks at a time, but owls were something that he had always answered. school was ending soon, and right now it looked like jake would have nowhere to go during the summer. the school had sent him to his aunt's place one weekend, after he'd asked them to, so he could ask if she'd heard from her brother, but he didn't think that was going to be the case as he knocked on the door. his knuckles rapped against the wood, almost certain that someone would have sent an owl to audrey to let her know that he was coming today. or was he supposed to have done that? he couldn't remember. most of the conversation with the headmaster jake had been sitting there trying to convince himself that his father wasn't actually going to do this. he rubbed the back of his neck and stared hard at the door waiting for someone to answer it. he'd never really spent a lot of time with his aunt, and he didn't actually remember meeting her husband even though he was sure he had at some point in time. but that was all going to change when the door got opened. he didn't like the fact that his father had put him in this spot, having to come and ask his aunt and uncle if there was any chance of him staying with them since his father was nowhere to be found, it didn't make for a good first impression jake thought.

Audrey was home alone, something she was pretty used to, but she didn’t mind. She knew the girls would be coming home soon, though they would probably be leaving her soon. That freaked her. Her little babies were almost ready to fly the nest. She knew they’d be okay. She knew she had done well with them, both her and Percy had. There is no right or wrong with raising kids. A few days ago she got a letter from Hogwarts. She couldn’t say she was surprised that Andrew had done this. She knew that for some reason Andrew blamed Jake for his mother’s death, as twisted as that was. She wasn’t so sure that Andrew didn’t have something to do with his wife’s death, though she never had any proof. She also knew that her father had instilled those tradition beliefs into her brother, whom believed them. That could only bring trouble these days. It had created problems years ago before the Dark Army. She remembered as clear as day her brother leaving her with nothing when their parents died. She would have had nothing if it wasn’t for Aunt Annalise. Thank Merlin that she met Percy at that time in her life. He had saved her from herself. She had been hand washing clothes. She hated washing machines and dyers. She didn’t get along with a lot of muggle appliances. The dishwasher had taken her three years to figure out. She can’t help it she was raised in a pureblood family that allowed no contact with muggles. If her girls thought their father had ruled with an iron fist, they should be lucky they never met their grandfather. She had just been thinking about her parents death and how she felt back then about it when she heard the door knock. Audrey opened the door. She had her wand literally up her sleeve if she needed it. She half expect Andrew to show up. She knew the danger her brother was. He was just as dangerous if not more than their father had been. That was a scary fact she kept to herself. “Hello, Jake dear,” said Audrey. She tried to be as welcoming as she could. She couldn’t imagine how upset and scared he was. He was just a kid. She had at least been an adult when her parents died and Andrew abandoned her. PERCY IGNATIUS WEASLEY JACQUES 'JAKE' MATHIEU MARTIN

jake rubbed the back of his neck when he saw the door opening an his aunt standing there. it was difficult to be honest. they were pretty much strangers, thanks to him and his brother having been raised in france with their father hardly mentioning his sister and yet here he was standing at her doorstep needing to ask for help. it seemed he had caught her in the middle of something and he felt bad for it but it wasn't like he could just as easily come back tomorrow. "hi aunt audrey .. " he said, putting on a small smile for the moment. "i know it's a long shot. but have you heard from my father the last few weeks?" he asked as he shoved his hands into his pockets because he didn't know what to do with them. "summer is coming and the school is closing and if he doesn't tell me where to go or meet him .. i can't get home" he blurted out, the plan to just ask his aunt if she knew where his father was going out the window as his still maturing brain made him blurt out his troubles. he shook his head a little and looked down at the ground, his hands gripping the inside of his pockets and his foot tapped lightly against the stairs. he wasn't going to admit out loud that he was worried about what was going on with his father and how it would effect him, he was just going to try and find him. so he didn't end up homeless this summer.

Audrey sighed. She, of course, hadn’t. She wished she could have helped him. But she couldn’t. She also couldn’t make his father a better person. She knew he’d learn of what his father was, but she didn’t want to be the one to tell him. She didn’t want to ruin the image of his father more than Jake had already seen. She could tell the poor boy was still in denial. She had been there once herself. “I haven’t heard from your father since his wedding to your mother. I wouldn’t have even know that you and brother had been born with your mother’s friend, I can never pronounce her name. I found out something happened to your mum the same way,” sighed Audrey. Andrew made sure to rub in face that he was married because once he married there was nothing she could do to fight him for the family estate. She really hadn’t been planning on fighting him to start with. She was pretty sure that Andrew had never met Percy either, even after being married all these years. The only person that showed up from her family at the wedding with Aunt Annalise, bless her old soul. Peculiar but powerful old woman she was. Where she got all her money, Audrey didn’t know. “I’m not going to leave you out in the streets. I’m sure I can move things out of bedroom over garage. It has a small bathroom in it. It isn’t that big of a deal, nothing is in their besides paintings. But my cat does live in that room though. The paintings can go up in attic but the cat I don't know what I'll do with her,” said Audrey. She was not going to leave her nephew the same way she had been. For nearly two months she lived in the Leaky Cauldron, and that was back in the days of the war. She had been afraid to sleep scared that Death Eaters would find her and kill her, like they had wanted to the day they killed her parents but she hadn’t been there. And things were getting dark again. It didn’t take a seer to be able to see that. “I’m going to give you a word of advice about your father. Don’t get your hopes up. If he has left you, he won’t come back for you,” told Audrey. She didn’t want the boy living on false hopes of his father’s return. Audrey knew he wasn’t coming back. He only cared for himself. Maybe one day he’ll show up but if that ever happens he better hope Percy isn’t home. Andrew better stay away either way. She looked at a picture of her girls on the wall. No matter how old they were she’d protect them even if it meant attacking even killing her own brother. She wasn’t going to let her brother terrorize her family like her father had terrorised his aunt’s family. “I didn’t mean to sound so mean but I don’t want you to rely on your father when no one knows what is doing or where he is. I know a lot of things about your father and I know it’s best you don’t find out where he is or what he is doing. Just keep moving and don’t give him the satisfaction of watching you fail,” she added. Sure, there was build up anger for what he did. But she wasn’t taking it out his son. She’d save it for him when he finally showed up at her store or at her house. Seeing Andrew do this to his son finally had burned any loyalty to her brother there had ever been. "i knew it was a long shot. guess he's just busy or something" he said, his hand rubbing the back of his neck. he didn't want to think the worst. because the worst would be awful. he loved his dad he really did but the more he was growing up the more he was learning that the guy wasn't someone you could put your trust into. it didn't matter if you were his son or not, there was no telling if and when he'd actually be there for you. "he didn't even tell you about us?" he asked, a little shocked at that. he'd known that his father hadn't liked his sister much but to go that far as to cut everything out of his life. it just surprised him really. "azalea? she was there when my mother died apparently. i never met her. zavier told me about her though" he said with a slight shrug, hoping that he was talking about the right friend. he sniffed a little, pulling his jacket closer to him as the wind around the house swirled and caught his jacket. he didn't much like the way things were going today. and he was starting to wonder if he was going to have to travel back to france to see if his father had gone back there. he looked up when his aunt started talking and watched her for a moment, not believing the words coming out of her mouth were true for a moment. "you mean that? i, thank you" he said. it wasn't like he'd known this sort of act before. well in a way he had, his brother raising him since the age of seven had been an act like this, but he didn't really know his aunt and she didn't know him, he hadn't expected an offer quite like that. "i don't mind cats?" he said, letting himself believe for a moment that things would all work out. "but what about your husband? and daughters? will they mind a stranger moving in?" he has to ask, not wanting to put anyone out really. and he was a stranger, to them all.
he frowned when he heard her next set of words and he shook his head a little. that wasn't true. his father would come back. he loved him. "that's not true" he said, with a shake of his head, the loyalty in him not able to let himself believe that his father would just up and abandon his children like that. "he's probably caught up on assignment or doing something for work. he'd never just leave us like this. something has to be wrong. it has to be" he said, brushing his hand under his eye quickly and hoping that his aunt didn't see him getting upset over this. he didn't like feeling hurt and angry. he was used to being happy and optomistic, which was hard to do right now when everything seemed to be crumbling. "if i can't rely on my father then who can i rely on? zavier needs to have his own life. i know you offered me a room but you have your own family so i can't rely on you a lot for long" he said, his hand brushing under his eyes again. he moved to take a step back from the door, not realising that his lace was caught under his shoe so he tripped back, falling down the few steps and hitting the path leading up to the house with a thud. wincing he forced himself to sit up and pulled his jacket sleeve up, looking at the graze on his arm that had been cause by the brunt of the fall. he closed his eyes for a second and ignored the stinging and the angry feeling and shook his head a little.

Audrey hadn’t meant to upset the boy. She understood why he was upset. She had given up long ago. She was only trying to protect him. She didn’t want to see Jake hurt the way she was. It had been the worse time of her life. She was trying to prevent the same pain. Kids never knew what the adults in her life had done for them until years later. The kid was loyal, she’d give him that. “I believe it was Azalea “ My kids aren’t going to care, they will probably being moving out soon. I’ll deal with my husband,” said Audrey. Percy would not be happy with it. But he’d see reason. She’d make sure of it. She knew after a while he’d understand. It was like the shop. Though a kid was a lot bigger than that. She get Percy to see reason as always. “ Jake, you have to learn to rely on only yourself. I know you love your father and you never stop loving family. But you have to understand that our parents aren’t as superhuman as he think they are,” said Audrey. She understood the anger. She would have done the same back when she was Jake’s age. People want to think their parents are perfect. Audrey quickly moved down the staircase trying not to fall herself. She had been in St. Mungo’s enough for one year. “Jake, dear, are you alright?” asked Audrey. She didn’t give him the time to protest. She keeled down on the path. “Oh dear, I’m not healer but I think it’s just a friction burn,” said Audrey softly. She could treat a burn. She tried not to laugh at herself. All the mother hen instincts of having a young child was coming back. She really did feel bad for Jake. She however was more worried about the injury. “Jake, please let me treat that. I didn’t mean to upset you, I really should have said that differently. My hard feelings about your father is about him not you. I’m sorry,” said Audrey. "aren't they still in school?" jake inquired about his cousins. he didn't know what plans they had but it seemed a little soon to him for them to be moving out of their house soon. but still, who was he to judge. he didn't have a house at the moment. he shook his head slightly and rubbed the back of his neck, wanting to protest about her making her husband see sense about jake moving in, he really didn't want to put anyone out. he just wanted to know where his father was. he frowned and shook his head a little. he wondered what had happened to make her so cold toward his father, he didn't know much about it. only ever been fed his father's side of the story, but still. "would you ever tell your kids that they couldn't ever rely on you if they needed you? that it wouldn't matter if they couldn't handle things on their own .. they they just had to rely on themselves?" he asked, just curious and startled that she thought that. "i do, and i don't know what to do if he's not coming home." he said as he looked down at the pavement, his hand rubbing the back of his neck, a habit he knew that he'd picked up from his father. "no but parents are supposed to be there for the children that they chose to bring into the world, if he didn't want to be there for me then i shouldn't be here" he said, shaking his head a little and looking back over his shoulder. he did this when he was upset or nervous, rambled and often couldn't control the words that came out of his mouth, his filter was still developing.
laying on the ground with his arm stinging like anything and his aunt hovering over him jake looked down at the grass around the house, trying not to look pathetic as he sat there on the path. "i'm fine" he mumbled, letting her look at his arm, not feeling like he was going to have a choice in the matter really. he chewed his lip and nodded slightly, moving to wipe away a trickle of blood that had started to run from the graze. "it won't kill me .." he said, looking up at his aunt then away from her again. he didn't know how to act in situations like this. how was he supposed to react right now, he'd never known someone to fuss over him unless it was his older brother, and usually jake had shied away from anything like that because he couldn't look weak to his brother, that would have just been asking for it. he nodded when she asked if she could treat it, he didn't have any objection to that, he didn't want to try himself. "why do you hate him .. " he asked, his light eyes looking up at his aunt with an odd child like innocence to them, needing to know what had happened between his father and his aunt that had stolen years of him getting to know his other family. "if you hate him so much .. why offer to help me .. what if he comes back? i know you said he won't .. but i'm his son, that has to count for something, doesn't it?"

Percy had just finished a hard days work, well, almost. He decided to retire earlier than usual because he had a bad feeling. Audrey had been experiencing visions again and that always made her a little shaky. Which, in turn, made Percy nervous. He thought it would be best to spend a nice day at home making sure Audrey and he were able to relax. He had a nice little lunch planned out, maybe a walk on the London bridge, perhaps a little bit of snuggling by the fire. Yes, that all sounded very nice.
It seemed as though his plans were not going to work out very well, considering when he apparated outside of his house there were two people standing there. His wife, and some young man. Percy raised an eyebrow at Audrey before relaxing his shoulders and approaching the boy. "Hello young man, I'm Percy," he reached a hand out, "and you are?" Percy wasn't necessarily suspicious of the boys reasons for being here, but it was a little strange finding out that your wife was standing outside your home talking to some young man.
Percy contemplated the various reasons he could be here. Maybe he was writing a story about Ice Cream Shoppes? He looked far too young to be graduated from whatever school he came from. It was most likely that he was a muggle, otherwise he would be in school. Unless it was a holiday and Percy didn't know about it.

Audrey rubbed her temples. Her blood pressure was certainly spiking. The one day Percy comes home early this had to be happening. She was so sick of her luck. She just never seemed to catch a break these days. She just wanted at least one normal day. But nope, there was no such thing for her. “Jake, we will manage. Things don’t always turn out the way we planned but things always turn out alright. Life is complicated. Yes I am there for my children but they are getting old enough where they don’t need me undivided support. They will always be my children but there comes a time to let go,” said Audrey. She wasn’t always clearly there for children but when they needed her she was there. She raised her daughters to be independent. Teaching kids independence wasn’t easy nor did it always feel right. But now Audrey knew she had done the right thing. One day things will come around where they will become a close family again. There was no such thing as the perfect way to raise kids. Jake reminded Audrey so much of Andrew. It actually sent a chill to her spine. She could see how much Jake was like Andrew as she noticed even the smallest of habits. It scared her quite frankly. It brought back memories of not so pleasant of things from when Andrew and her had been children. Even as a child Andrew was just a messed up as their father. She shook away the memories. This wasn’t the time or place. She couldn’t tell Jake the truth about Andrew. “My problems with your father shouldn’t be taken out on you. I should have thought more about what I was thinking. I’m only trying to help you. It would be best for you to let your father go. He is a bad influence on a lot of people. It’s hard for you to understand and accept, I get that,” sighed Audrey. She was trying to answer Jake’s questions. But Jake was still a child. This was very grown up situation. She closed her eyes forming her thoughts. She took a deep breath. “I don’t think this is right time to tell you such stories. It isn’t your father’s fault completely. It was how our father raised us. In terms that I think you can handle, I feel the way I do about your father is because he did the same thing to me that is happening to you. But for me I was older and it left me without anything to my name,” said Audrey. She looked over at her husband. Feeling exposed by having to talk about Andrew. She hated talking about him, nearly as much as she hated Andrew, himself. It had taken her so many years to give up and actually allow herself to be angry at Andrew. Trying to explain this to someone else, let alone his son, was a lot of weight on her shoulders. She looked over at Percy without saying a word with completely desperation. A lot that always came when she was forced to discuss her past, especially Andrew. It was knowing that if she opened up about Andrew she would have to open up about her parents and her screwed up childhood. She was terrified to let anyone in that deep. "zavier and i pretty much grew up with him gone a lot, but he always came home .. when we moved here i thought there might be a change" he said. he got where his aunt was coming from but still it was hard to get his head around. "well being homeless during the school holidays is a good way to teach me not to rely on anyone won't it" he said, starting to hate how this conversation was making him feel. he didn't come here to be told he shouldn't rely on his father, or that his father was ever coming back for him. he just wanted to know where he was. he didn't blame his aunt for saying it all though, if he wasn't his father's son he'd probably be saying the same things about him.
"i know your only trying to help. but i love my father aunt audrey. no matter what he's done. he's my father" he chewed his lip. it was true. he could never turn his back on his family. any member of his family no matter what they did to him. well he liked to think that, of course he'd never been pushed that far by any of them to have to make a choice like that in his short life. "it is hard. maybe this is one of those 'there is two sides to every story' thing .. you have your side and dad has his" he said, rubbing the back of his neck and looking down at the ground again. "he left you?" jake asked, frowning a little and shaking his head. it didn't sound like his dad. okay well it did but still, it wasn't like he'd been heartless while around jake while he'd been growing up, or had he just been too naive and young to realise it. he wasn't sure now and it was making him confused. he pressed his fingers into his eyes and shifted at the sound of footsteps approaching them. he turned his head to see a man with red hair walking down the path and he shifted a little, his fingers still on his grazed arm. "jake martin ... i'm audrey's nephew. andrew's son?" he told percy, audrey's husband. he looked at his aunt again, not sure if she was going to explain to her husband why he was here, or if he was going to. he chewed his lip. "i was just wondering if aunt audrey had spoken to my father recently .." he said, his voice quiet as he spoke, wondering what reaction he was going to get.

The look that Audrey gave him really worried Percy. She wanted him to be happy about the situation. As he listened to Audrey talking to the boy and explaining what was going on he started to put two and two together. This boy was his nephew? He didn't like hearing about his in-laws and he didn't like hearing about the pain that they had caused his wife. He felt his shoulders tense as he listened, hoping that he was hallucinating. Soon, however, the boy started to speak and Percy made eye contact with him.
"Jake. Lovely." Percy reached forward and clasped the boys hand in his, shaking it, then letting go. So, it was indeed Andrews son. At his next remark Percy scoffed and gave a slight chuckle, "Your father is not exactly on our frequent letters list," Percy turned to Audrey to raise an eyebrow, hoping that was true. The boy looked troubled, but trustworthy. His voice was soft and quiet as if he was afraid of what Percy might do. Percy reached forward and put a hand on his shoulder, "why don't we go inside? No need talking about this nasty business outside." He gently pulled on the boys shoulder and started steering him toward the house. He turned to Audrey and made a stern face, basically what were you thinking talking about that brother of yours on the lawn? Anyone could have heard you.
Needless to say, he wasn't happy and Audrey would be able to see that.

Audrey was simply emotional drained. She was trying so hard. But thing was is that she wasn’t used to talking she was used to backing away and shutting down. She had no problem letting Percy try. Jake was stubborn, that much she could get. Not that Audrey is surprised by that. With two stubborn parents it was likely their kids would be too. If Jake was so upset, what about his brother. They needed her. But how could she help them when she could barely help her through similar situations that happen a very long time ago.
Audrey glared at Percy for what he was insinuating. She didn’t think she would have replied to Andrew if he had gotten back to her. Unless it had been birthdays or some other important event. She would have accepted that better than nothing, she would have stopped trying so hard much earlier. She rolled her eyes. What does it matter what the neighbours think? It’s not likely she had kicked him out of her house and started yelling at him, that would have been her mum.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out Percy wasn’t happy. Audrey didn’t really care that much at the moment. She knew she’d care later but she was more concern about Jake. She wanted to take care of the cut Jake had. She knew they’d do plenty of arguing later. What is marriage without a few arguments?
“Let me get the first aid kit. I’m not a healer so I’m not going to use magic, it’s never a good idea to use magical magic if you haven’t studied it,” said Audrey. Self-treatment was even a worse idea. She had made several injuries even worse because she didn’t want to see a healer. Last thing she wanted to do is rush Jake to St. Mungo's because she screwed up a spell.

"yeah well apparently i'm not on his either ... " jake said as percy said something about his father. he was hoping that the look on percys face wasn't due to the fact that jake was there standing on the lawn and to do with something that had bugged him at work. the last thing he needed was for this family to decide that they didn't need anything to do with him. all he had right now was zavier and his aunt. he ran his hand through his hair and looked at his aunt and noticed she didn't look like she was enjoying being part of this conversation either. he knew that his father wasn't a happy topic around here and the thought of leaving was crossing his mind so he didn't cause more trouble. he shifted a little when percy lay his hand on his shoulder, wondering what he was going to do and was a little shocked when it just lay there. jake just nodded when he suggested going inside, he didn't think that running or trying to leave would get him anywhere right now. he heard his aunt and nodded a little. "thanks aunt audrey .. but i think it's okay .. just needs a wash" he said as he looked down at the graze on his arm and moved when his uncle pulled on his shoulder slightly, moved to head up the stairs. "i'm sorry if being here is going to cause trouble .. i .. i can go back to school and see if i can spend the summer with someone .. i don't want to intrude" he said, looking at audrey and chewing his lip. he didn't like feeling nervous. it wasn't really in his nature but this was a scary time.

Percy was quickly turning into the bad guy of the situation but he was used to that. He liked things to be neat and orderly and he didn't want people asking all about his dear old brother in law. Percy approached the boy and put a hand on his shoulder, "I'm sure that must be hard, my dear boy. Come, let's go inside and get that first aid kit. Audrey is right, we can't let you back to the school like this without offering our help." Percy raised an eyebrow at his wife, hoping that this kind gesture would have her forgive him for his worries about the neighbors. He wrapped his arm further around the boys shoulders and started leading him inside, firmly, but not with too much force. At least not violent force.
"So, what was this saying about needing a place to live this summer? Am I to understand that is why you came to us?" Percy asked, keeping his grip on the boy. He wasn't sure exactly how to feel about the situation. Both his daughters were gone, yes, and they had plenty of room. But what if Andrew came around looking for his son and it put Audrey and Percy in danger? That didn't seem like good incentive to allow the boy to stay. But, he couldn't be blamed for his parentage. It was a delicate situation indeed.

Audrey wasn’t letting go of her anger so easily. She knew she’d need something to use over Percy to get him to let Jake live with them. She knew he would use Andrew over Jake’s welfare. She wasn’t going to let Percy win this battle. This wasn’t about her family or her past. She could care less what he thought about them. But this was a human life, the life of her nephew. No one was there to help her, she had to help herself than her Aunt Annalise step in. The batty old woman refused to help anyone who couldn’t help themselves. That gave her an idea. She could use the same ideology. Old school tough love. Jake wouldn’t accept charity, Audrey knew that Andrew wouldn’t nor would she, stupid Martin genes. Why not make him earn his stay.
Audrey went into the kitchen hoping Percy didn’t terrorize Jake with an unwanted stories. She didn’t think Percy would tell Jake. Sometimes she didn’t know what to expect from her husband. She laughed at herself, she had been spending too much time writing to Lucy. She wondered if things would have been different if Audrey would have been just like Lucy. Honestly, she didn’t doubt that. She had been quite a bit like Lucy truthfully but being forced into the world with nothing made her change, thank Merlin for that. Maybe she had to do that to Lucy. But she couldn’t do that. She loved her girls. She didn’t want to be like her family but she kept thinking of doing things the way they had. She couldn’t change the way she was raised. People say you always go back to the way you were raised after all. She was trying so hard not to let that happen but it was getting harder as the girls got older. Maybe she had spoiled the girls too much. Maybe she didn’t show love the right way. She didn’t know why her daughter was filled with such hate towards her father but it was driving Audrey slowly insane.
“Where is that kit? It has to be here,” said Audrey fumbling around in the kitchen. She really needed to clean the house. But when could she find time to clean. She felt like she was trying to clean two houses with the shop. “There it is,” she said. She saw the glint of the white and red case. She washed her hands, sanitation first.
“Alright, it doesn’t look deep. If it gets worse go to the hospital wing. Don’t you dare try to fix it yourself, I will find out and ask my girls it’s not fun getting a howler form me. I haven’t had to do it many times but don’t think I won’t,” warned Audrey. She cannot turn off the mother inside of her. It seemed even more persistent than before.
“And boy I’m not letting you stay with strangers or in the Leaky Cauldron. A lot of bad things can happen to young kids that way. I don’t want to be getting a call that something has happened to you, though I’d probably already know if it did. I know your father quite well. If he wants to find you, he will. If you are alone he’ll send his buddies. If you are with me, he’ll have to come himself. Because he knows I have no trouble sending his buddies to St. Mungo’s. Most of them pigs that can and will kill even a child like yourself even younger than you to be frank,” said Audrey. She hadn’t meant to go on a rampage but she did. She didn't care what Percy heard or didn't hear anymore. What did it matter? It's not like she has any proof of anything they had done. She tried to stay out of trouble back then, while Andrew went looking for it. The Martins had been a 'neutral' family but everyone knew the older generation were allies of Death Eaters but not members, Death Eaters didn't want a family that was part foreign. Audrey had a few runs in with her father and brother's friend, nearly killed one. She had never had a good temper with anyone into the dark arts. That’s after all what caused her family their issues in the war. was the fact Audrey didn't fallow her father's beliefs and acted on the behalf of her own beliefs.
