In the common room, Eli stood with a few friends discussing various topics like professors, their classes and even more pressing matters: pranks. The common room fireplace was not lit yet thankfully. He had become used to the fireplace- he was uncomfortable around it and usually either stayed on the opposite room or was up in his dormitory. In the middle of the discussion of how to stealthy sneak into the girl's bathrooms and cast jinxes on their toilets, a fourth year decided to light the fireplace, and simultaneously a couple of second years horsing around in the common room bumped into him, sending him tumbling to the floor and towards the fireplace.
There was a solid 20 inches from him and the beginning of the fireplace- plenty of room, but to Elijah, it was a near death experience that flicked a switch inside of him. His body shook, his heartbeat sped up and felt like it was going to burst from his ribcage, and he was starting to get the flashbacks again. "I'll see you later." he choked out to his friends and he darted out of the common room with no regard for the time. He knew he needed fresh air and the brisk air down by the boathouse always seemed to help him calm down.
It was a miracle he made it outside without being caught, because his journey was dizzying. Some moments he was running down stairs, grasping the rails to prevent himself from falling. And some moments, he was back in his house, watching flames crawl over his parent's bodies and watching the flames try to devour his arm. Elijah slowed to a brisk walk as he made his way down the steps to the boat house and he rubbed his scars carefully. He could still imagine the pain. However, he heard a noise- someone in the boat house already. His anxiety levels skyrocketed again and he ducked behind a wall.
To his delight, it wasn't the voice of an angry professor that came out of the boathouse, but that of a girl he had ran in to a few times during his time at Hogwarts. He stepped in, trying his best to hide his shaking hands. "Oh no, you've caught me, darling." He winked at her, making his way into the small shack. "But I have a question- someone as gorgeous as you should catch lots people people's fancies. Why are you here all along past curfew?" He took a seat next to her, unlacing his shoes and rolling his pant legs up. Some cold water would do him some good.

Elijah had seen this particular girl around a little bit so he knew that she was in his year, but wasn't in his house. He couldn't recall what house she was in but it didn't matter to him because he had no bias. The only thing that mattered to him was her personality, which so far seemed...intriguing to say the least. The way she spoke and structured her sentences made her seem far more mature for both of their ages. That wasn't a bad thing though. And he cared about getting caught outside of the common room after curfew because well... He had a few strikes against him here and there and he would hate to lose points for his house for something stupid yet again.
He hid his shaking hand the best he could and she spoke again. "Ah, don't like some old fashioned fun and games?" he smiled at her with a mischievous look in his eyes. It was no secret that Eli had a thirst for some pranks and a little trouble, but it wasn't like he was notorious for it. Or was he? "Are you a prefect?" His eyes went big for a moment and he searched for a badge on her but failed to find one. Undercover prefects? That wasn't cool. "I suppose I'll tell you why I'm here if you tell me why you are." he smirked at her, moving his feet in the water. The coldness was helping him calm down.
"I'm out here because I had a feeling I'd find some stunning company. And because I needed some fresh air." he nodded, hoping his charm would work on her if she was a prefect. Perhaps she was just bluffing to be left alone. "Of course though, If my company isn't something you would like, I'll leave." he offered, hoping she would tell him to stay. He was still feeling on edge and wanted someone to get his mind off of what had happened in the common room. At this point, he'd go to Peeves and get whacked with moldy bread if he had to.
@saeren ooc: haha aww. he's just like "please talk to me" *puppy eyes*

It would be his luck to run around Hogwarts at night simply to get some air and calm down and find himself with a prefect. Elijah frowned a bit, seeing her silvery badge from under her coat. But he would rather get house points docked or have detention for a month for innocent intentions rather than have others see him in an uncontrollable freak out session. He'd also prefer those options than to confess to a total stranger that he had been out looking for air to calm down. "Games are fun sometimes. But you're right, we are not playing games right now." he agreed with her, moving his feet in the water gently.
"Elijah Reyes, sixth year Hufflepuff...wanderer." he introduced himself, feeling a bit shameful that he didn't have a title to go with his identity like she did. "We're both here for the same reason." he smiled softly at her before looking away. "Oh, I don't need to know you to know you're a very gorgeous young woman. But I can also tell from these few minute that we've shared together, that you're also a very smart and wise one as well." Elijah raised an eyebrow and smiled, feeling very proud of his smooth talking, not only because it was smooth but because it was also true. She was very beautiful and the moonlight seemed to make her glow like a star that fell from the sky, and she was very well spoken.
Oddly, he suddenly started feeling calmer and more relaxed. The muscles in his shoulders grew less tense and he began to slowly went from sitting stiff as a board to leaning back on his hands a little. He determined that he already liked Saeren, not just for her pretty face or the elegance she both portrayed and spoke, but because the effect she was having on him was almost surreal. "Legends? I've heard of a few." he replied to her random question with a relaxed grin. He listened as she told her story. If it were anyone else telling the story, Elijah would have gotten up and walked away because it would have thoroughly creeped him out. But now, now he was too mellow and happy to even think of going separate ways. "Wow... Do you believe in it, Miss Saeren?" he asked nonchalantly as he laid back with his arms behind his head and his feet still in the cold water.
@saeren ooc: elijah officially has a crush on her. xD
