Ollie smiled at that. 'Next time'. He already enjoyed spending time with Laila, and the idea of hanging out another time was a very appealing one. "That would be really cool. It's awesome that you care so much about your characters, it shows that they really mean a lot to you," he said with a warm smile. He hadn't ever really tried any sort of creative writing, but it was great to see how much she cared about her writing. Ollie felt that if he started writing like that, he would feel the need to really do it as well as he possibly could, which would probably make it a stressful thing rather than an enjoyable thing.
"It's okay, don't worry about it. It's hard to remember everything you hear," he said understandingly. He didn't want her to feel bad, it wasn't a big deal at all that she had just gotten his Quidditch position wrong. When she suggested conjuring swim wear, he gave a thankful smile. Of course not that he didn't want to see her, but he didn't want to like that. Stupid thoughts - unhelpful. "That sounds like a good idea. Yep, I'm ready," he said with a nod, as he mounted his broom. He secured his bag more tightly around himself with a flick of his wand, to make sure that it didn't fall off, and then was ready to go. "3.... 2.... 1........ Go!" he called out, and the two of them kicked off at the same instant.

dancing through the fire Laila simply nodded to his comment about her story and characters and how both meant a lot to her. It was definitely a fact and she was glad that Ollie understood that. It wasn't always easy conveying just how her characters had an impression on her, but being that Ollie seemed to get it, it made his attractiveness just that much more obvious to her. She grinned, still mounting her broom, and waited for him to count down to the takeoff. Her adrenaline began to peak as she readied herself and at the sound of 'go' they both kicked off the ground hard.
"You're not gonna catch me!" Laila shouted behind her as she sped up a tad, moving just past him. Ollie was a much more professional Quidditch player than she was, though, so it wouldn't really have surprised her if she lost this thing. That said, she was quick. She'd been told that many times and had been pushed by James Potter himself to try out for the team - she just never followed through with it. Maybe it was the fact that writing was more her passion than anything else, or maybe she subconsciously feared that if she went out for the team that she wouldn't have enough time to do any writing at all, but for whatever reason, Laila simply stayed off the Quidditch Pitch unless it was for the pure fun of being there. In that instant, with the two of them flying neck-in-neck, Laila realized that she was doing just that - enjoying a new level of fun that she didn't think possible. And, whether she realized it or not, it was because of the boy in her company.

Wow, so she was faster than he had expected. He had thought she would be pretty quick, but her acceleration at the start was really excellent. He found himself leaning forward as much as he could, straining to catch up, and he found himself catching up slightly but still lagging slightly behind her. They were so close together that he could reach out and touch her, though, if he wasn't so focused on holding onto the broom and pushing for every ounce of speed he could muster. There was no better feeling than being out on a broom with the wind through his hair - apart from maybe doing it with her. This was great.
"Don't be so sure," he replied with a grin as he inched closer to catching up to her. She was still slightly in front, but he was gaining slightly... and then, there it was. The boathouse. They both flew at top speed to it, but Lalia just got there a fraction of a second before him. Once they had slowed down and dismounted, he came up to her with a grin. "Wow, you're really quick. Well done, that was great," he said, the expression on his face indicating how much he had enjoyed it. He loved that she was competitive enough to not only challenge him to a race, but to beat him in it.
"So I guess I'm getting wet, then, aren't I?" he realised, laughing a little. In all honesty, he really hadn't expected to lose, but he would of course go through with the decided wager.

dancing through the fire Laila was definitely a competitive girl despite her laid back nature. She certainly wasn't a sore loser or winner by any means, but she could hang with the best of them regardless. That much was proven as she and Ollie soared toward the boathouse. Laila was focused and driven and with that she continued to push ahead of Oliver. He was right on her the whole time, though, and she knew she couldn't let up her speed at any cost if she wanted to win. She dared not look back and see his face for she surely would have lost her focus, but in ignoring how close their race was she ended up winning.
She slowed up on her broom and dismounted, laughing as her feet touched the ground. Laila wasn't too thrilled that she won because it was a fair race and a fun one at that, but she was more ecstatic about the rush that it brought. She really loved being on a broom; there was no better feeling, really, spare the internal pride when finishing a chapter in her book. Laila leaned against her broom as Ollie came up to her chuckling. "Thanks!" she said, breathing hard. "You did really great - I think that was the most fun in a broom race I've ever had," Laila chuckled. It was definitely great fun.
Upon the realization that Ollie was going to have to jump in the lake, Laila put her hand over her mouth to try and hide her laugh. "Oh yes - I guess that means you are!" she said, grinning. She picked up her broom and turned away from him with a smirk on her face, knowing he'd follow her as she made her way through the boathouse and out onto the small deck that surrounded it. "So, will you change?" Laila asked as she turned around, leaning on the railing of the deck with her broom still in hand. @ollie

Ollie nodded in agreement, also breathing quite hard. "Yeah, it was so much fun. This is actually really good practice for me, too - being a Keeper I don't generally have to work on speed that much, but it definitely helps to be working on that as well," he replied thoughtfully. He propped his broom up with a flick of his wand and leaned against it while he stood; this was quite a common thing among the Quidditch team as there wasn't really anything to lean up against in the middle of the Quidditch pitch when they were standing around chatting. And leaning up against something was always better than just standing straight the whole time.
As Laila moved through the boathouse, though, Ollie picked up his broom and followed her through onto the deck. It was a beautiful spot. "You know what, I'm not going to change. If I lost like this, I should get wet like this," he decided. Plus he knew a drying spell that would help him once he got out of the water. He did want to go with the idea of the wager rather than making a big deal about getting wet, because it really wasn't that big a deal for him and he didn't want to overplay it. Besides, at least it was getting close to summer now. So, he looked at her with a grin, placed his wand and broom down together on the deck, and then started running towards the edge, jumping as far as he could out into the lake, giving an excited yell as he did so. And a large splash.
He came up a moment later, wiping his face and trying not to splutter awkwardly. Okay, it was cold. But... "You know what, it's really nice in here. You should join me," he suggested with a grin.

dancing through the fire Laila nodded at his statement. Ollie had a point; Keepers rarely had to pay attention to speed. Their most prized ability was agility for the most part. Sure you had to be quick in getting the Quaffle away from the hoops but you didn't have to race down the pitch after a Snitch or to hit a Bludger. No, Keepers certainly weren't known for their quickness. In that regard, Laila was glad she was able to help him practice keeping his broom forward and moving quickly. Being helpful made her giddy a bit inside, but she tried to hide it through her sweet smile.
"That sounds good to me!" she cheered. Laila set her broom against the wall of the boathouse and watched as Ollie jumped into the lake with a yell. She giggled; it was definitely cute. Laila ran a hand through her hair then grabbed the railing with both hands and leaned slightly over it, watching for Ollie to come up. Once he did she grinned, trying to evaluate him quickly and make sure he was alright. After confirming his safety, she let out a shallow laugh. "Oh I should, should I?" Laila asked with a chuckle. After a few moments of pretend-pondering, she shrugged her shoulders. "Okay, here I come!" she shouted.
Laila backed up and then ran in the small space of the deck and jumped off, careful not to be too close to Ollie when she hit the water. She sunk down a bit then finally swam up toward the surface, gasping just slightly when she found air once more. She giggled and tread water, and swam a little closer to Ollie, smiling. "It's a little cold," she said with a raised eyebrow. He definitely downplayed the temperature of the water to get her in there, but she was a little glad he did. It actually did feel pretty good after flying so fast.

Ollie saw her think about his proposition, and was pleased when she decided to jump in the water as well. He watched as she got a run up and jumped into the water as well, far enough from him that they wouldn't collide, and she made a big splash as well. When she came up, he laughed at her reaction to the cold. "Ah, it's not so bad once you get used to it," he replied with a grin, floating on his back now. "I love that we both ended up in here even though I'm the one who lost. Would you have tried to get me in here if you'd lost?" he asked curiously. It was a very nice way to cool off after an intense flight. And, swimming with a particularly pretty girl who he had just had an awesome broom race with, well, that was excellent. With a teasing smirk, he splashed a little bit of water at her.

dancing through the fire The water, although a bit chilly, was definitely refreshing after the flight they just took. Laila could easily admit that. Still, she wasn't going to let Ollie go thinking that she was going to do this all the time. She rolled her eyes and said, "Uh huh," in a sarcastic manner. Her smile gave way to the fact that she wasn't bothered by the situation, to ensure he didn't actually think she was. She continued to wade in the water and watched him float onto his back, following suit. She stared up at the sky as he asked her if she would have tried to get him into the lake had the roles been reversed. She chuckled. "Would I have? Um, yea. Definitely," Laila answered with a laugh. Knowing her she probably would have sneaked up behind him by surprise and tackled him in. It certainly would have been funny to see the expression on his face if she did so. She closed her eyes momentarily but quickly opened them and gasped, surprised at the splash of water that hit her. "Hey! That's it!" she squealed and proceeded to splash him a few times repeatedly, laughing while doing it. "No one splashes me and gets away with it!" she laughed.

Ollie grinned at her when she said she would have gotten him in the water as well. "I figured you would have. Typical," he teased. He was surprised how natural he felt around Laila already when they had just met within the last hour. They had already had a broom race and were now swimming in the lake together in their clothes. Random, but awesome. When she started splashing him back, Ollie laughed and swam away a bit before splashing her more. "Oh really? Because it looks like I just did get away with it!" he said, giving a terribly bad evil laugh afterwards. He really didn't pull off evil very well at all.

dancing through the fire "Typical? What's that supposed to mean?" Laila asked with a laugh, shaking her head. Ollie could see right through her and she loved it. She loved how they seemingly knew each other well even after having only just met. It was really great, though. "Don't make me come after you," Laila warned, swimming a little closer to him. "Haven't I already proved I'm faster?" she asked, unable to resist the laughter that followed.

He enjoyed her fake indignance, knowing that she really didn't mind at all. It felt so comfortable with her already, it was like they knew each other well straight away. Usually he would feel worried about how someone would react to him teasing them, but with Laila it felt like he knew she would be comfortable and would respond in the same way. "Oh, there's no way. On a broom is one thing, but in the water you've got no chance," he teased, splashing her again while swimming on his back away from her. This meant that he was able to keep watching her at the same time. And watching her was always better than watching something else. She was a very easily admirable person, in his eyes. She really was beautiful. He had to consciously stop himself from staring. How had he gotten into this situation, anyway? Sheer luck, it seemed. But he definitely wasn't going to complain. And hey, if she did try and chase him and caught him, he wasn't going to mind...

dancing through the fire Laila was definitely intrigued by Ollie's sudden peak in confidence. It made her heart flutter it was so cute. He was so cute. Laila chuckled and shook her head. "Oh it's so on, Ollie," she teased and began to swim forward with long arm strokes. It only took her a few seconds to reach him and she giggled as she looked down at him floating on his back, kicking in the water to stay above him. She pushed a few strands of wet hair from her face and grinned. "You'll have to be a bit faster than that!" she said cheerfully, tapping the end of his nose lightly with her pointer finger as she said the word 'that.' Laila giggled, wondering what he'd do in response.

Ollie had been brought up swimming. The water was his element, he loved the freedom he felt when he was swimming. So he was happy to let her catch up to him at first, and he laughed as she tapped him on the nose. She seemed like she loved the water, too, which was great - it was another thing they had in common. "Oh, I will, will I?" he asked, before suddenly diving backwards under the water, and staying down for a few seconds while he swam underneath her, grabbing her ankle briefly as he went past, before popping up on the other side of her a few metres away. "Was that fast enough for you?" he commented in a joking tone. This really was a lot of fun.

dancing through the fire Laila raised an eyebrow at him before he dove under the water. She looked down but due to the murkiness of the water, there was no telling where he was. She got the hint, however, as he pulled down on her ankle and she found water up to the middle of her nose. She quickly sprouted up and spit water out of her mouth, wiping the excess water from her face. She turned round as she heard him pop up out of the water and she shook her head at him. "You're gonna get it now!" she laughed and swam toward him. Laila laughed until she got half-way to him and dove under the water. She swam around him and popped up behind him then wrapped her arms around his neck, laughing. "Caught ya!

The water was indeed murky - he hadn't realised just how murky it was until Laila dived under the water herself. He really couldn't see where she had gone, until she came up behind him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Okay, okay, you win, this time..." he said, laughing. He felt like he could have slipped away if he just let himself fall under the water now, but... well, to be honest, he didn't want to. He liked having her arms around him. He hadn't expected it at all, but the closeness was really nice. He moved his hand up to rest on her forearm, near his shoulder. This closeness was new to him - he had never dated anyone before, but he found he was really wanting to change that with Laila. If she felt the same way, of course. At that thought, some nervousness came up inside of him, and he tensed up a bit and had to mentally force himself to try and relax more. "So do you swim a lot?" he asked, trying to distract himself from the thoughts that made him nervous. She was also still holding him, but again he had no objections to that. Apart from not being able to see her.
