dancing through the fire Laila laughed as he noted her the winner. "Yes!" she said, giggling. She bit her lower lip, not wanting to let go. If she was honest, she wanted to rest her head on his shoulder and sit there a while. But it would probably have been pretty awkward staying like that in the water, and for the fact that at that point, Ollie hadn't really made it too obvious that he was interested. Laila watched his hand move to her forearm and sit there a moment and she immediately felt her heart start pounding harder in her chest. She grinned devilishly and was glad he couldn't see her at that moment. He would have thought she was a total dork, for sure, but Laila couldn't help the overwhelmingly joyous feeling he brought to her with one simple touch. She was definitely excited to see what could happen between them. "I dance more, actually," Laila pointed out. She took his hand and spun herself around him, then laughed and let his hand go, wading in the water as she faced him."But swimming is fun too. How about you?" she asked with a smile.

Oh, Ollie was definitely interested. It was very clear to him how much he liked being around Laila, even if it wasn't obvious to her. He let out a small sigh when she cut off the contact between them, grabbing his hand and spinning around before moving away. That was a sad moment, as he had enjoyed the contact - but at least now he could see her again, which made up for it. "Oh, that's cool. What kind of dancing do you like most?" he asked. "I love swimming, I used to do it a lot as a kid before I came to Hogwarts," he answered. "I really love it, it's really soothing, you know?"

dancing through the fire She giggled. "What kind? Uh, does random count?" she asked with a laugh. "I mean I've never taken dancing lessons or anything like that, but I like all kinds - ballroom, salsa, whatever. I just like to move to the music," she grinned. Laila nodded as he explained his enjoyment of swimming. She smiled. "Oh yea, I definitely get it. It's one of the reasons I love it. A swim after a broom race, for example," Laila teased and winked, "Or after a long day in general is really relaxing," she finished. Laila was about to open her mouth and say it's also fun when it's with you, but she didn't get the chance for a loud thunder caught her attention. Laila looked up and watched as a dull bolt of lightning struck the sky and jumped slightly when the thunder roared again. She sighed and looked back to Ollie, a soft trickle of rain beginning to fall on them. "Guess we should get out, huh?"

Ollie laughed when she asked if random counted. "Random always counts," he replied easily, and he then listened to the other kinds she enjoyed. "That's really cool. I'm pretty terrible at dancing, I feel like I never know what to do. But it's always cool watching people who really love it, they move so easily." He imagined that Laila would look like that when she danced, too - he thought to himself that he would really love to see it.
"Oh, swims after broom races are the best kind," he agreed with a smile. Especially broom races with her, he was thinking - which matched up so well with what she was thinking, even if neither of them knew it. But then the thunder came over and it started to rain. "Yeah, we should. Being in the water in a thunderstorm isn't the best idea." Water conducted electricity - not a good idea. He did love thunderstorms, though - so he had a big grin on his face when he realised it was a thunderstorm. "This is so awesome," he said as he pulled himself up onto the deck, and then reached down a hand to help pull her out of the water as well.

dancing through the fire Laila seemed pleased and squished up her nose rather cutely when he said random dances counted. She thought so, too. "I bet we could get you into fine dancing shape with a little practice," Laila noted, nodding confidently. Dancing wasn't really about tricks and splits and all that jazz. Well, maybe some jazz. But really, dancing was more about moving your body in a way that expresses who you are. It was a good thing Laila wasn't a sophisticated dancer or she might very well have a different opinion about dancing as a whole, but as someone who simply enjoyed music and dancing to it, she was sure that Ollie had nothing to worry about when dancing in front of her - if he decided to at some point, that is.
She tried to hide her disappointment when he agreed that they needed to get out of the lake. Laila was really enjoying it but she knew that it could definitely get either of them hurt being in there during a thunderstorm; it wasn't a chance she was willing to take. "It's awesome?" she asked curiously as she took his hand and lifted herself onto the dock. Laila stood up and ringed out her hair to the side, her clothes now uncomfortably clinging to her skin and rubbing awkwardly. She tried not to look too concerned about her current state, but Laila was definitely a bit uncomfortable now that they got out of the water. She tried to play it off by looking to the sky as a brighter bolt of lightening showed itself. "Yea, I think thunderstorms are pretty cool to watch...just not when they interrupt something," she said, turning back to him and sticking her tongue out.

Ollie shook his head, chuckling. "You wouldn't say that if you knew how bad I was," he replied. He thought of himself as pretty much a non-dancer. But he supposed that if anyone could convince him to give it a go, it would be Laila. It surprised him somewhat that he was already thinking that, seeing as they had just met. But there was something about her that really captured him.
With a big pull, he helped her out of the water. It was a little harder than it would have been normally since her clothes were so heavy due to the water. He reached over and grabbed his wand, and waved it over both of them, helping their robes to dry. "There we go, that's a bit more comfortable," he said with a smile. "And yeah, totally awesome. I love thunderstorms. And it's sad when they get in the way of things... but they don't always have to," he said with a wide smile. "Just because we're not in the lake anymore, it doesn't mean we have to go inside yet..." he said with a grin. The rain was really starting to pick up now, and was quite heavy. "Come on," he said, grabbing her hand and pulling her behind him, as he led her out from under the cover of the boathouse and onto the grass of the lawns, where they started to run around. Being outside in the rain was one of Ollie's favourite things - and he hoped Laila didn't hate it or something.

dancing through the fire Laila doubted that Ollie was as bad a dancer that he claimed, but she would make sure he showed her someday. He certainly could sway side to side at the very least...or, maybe he couldn't. It would be fine either way! Laila loved dancing and was sure she'd be able to get him to dance with her at least once. After all, she could be pretty persuasive if she wanted to be.
"That's much better!" Laila noted with a smile as Ollie ran his wand over the both of them. With her clothes dry and less heavy, Laila could feel a bit better about her appearance. That said, she now dawned on the fact that they weren't in the lake. The storm was ruining their time together. It meant they were going to go into the castle and part ways...and she didn't want that, not in the slightest. But just as Laila was about to explain that was the reason for her thinking that storms got in the middle of things, Ollie surprised her by grabbing her hand and dragging her through the boathouse and to the other side. Laila laughed as Ollie began to run around and she extended her arms out to the side, turning her face up to the sky. She turned round and round in circles laughing as the rain hit her face, her hair becoming damp once more and sticking to her cheeks. She was very relaxed and playful in that moment and didn't care that her face and clothes were now wet once again. She laughed and looked to Ollie with a grin, glad that he wasn't afraid of rain, either. It really did seem they were a perfect match. She smiled and looked down at the ground, feeling warmth rise to her cheeks. He was way too cute to not be embarrassed about being so silly. And, yet, he made it seem so completely okay. It was brilliant.

It did feel a lot better being dry, it was true. The heavy clothes were a bit of a downer - but that was what magic was for. Ollie noticed her surprised expression when he took her hand and led her outside again, and he had hoped that it would be good surprised rather than bad surprised - and as it turns out, she laughed and was enjoying it, which he was very pleased about. It seemed their interests and personalities fitted really well together, as they both enjoyed doing similar things, and went with each other's randomness. It was really great. He stuck his arms out and started running around, laughing with her, wiping a loose strand of hair out of his face. The rain was so heavy now that water was running down his face and he had to wipe it out of his eyes a few times, but that was half the fun of it. He came back over to her and took her hand again, feeling like as much as the rain was awesome, he wanted to be experiencing it with her. He really felt a strong attachment to her already, after so short a time. After he had taken her hand they started running together in the rain, getting drenched again but at least he knew that the drying spell worked when they needed it.

dancing through the fire Laila perked up as he grabbed her hand and they began running together across the lawn again. She laughed and gave his hand a tight squeeze as they ran and she finally found solace under a large Oak tree, whose branches blocked most of the rain. She leaned her back against the trunk of the tree and laughed, brushing her wet hair from her face. "This is the most fun I've ever had," she said laughing, her head tilted back against the tree and her chest rising and falling with her somewhat heavy breathing. Laila liked to think she was in shape, but the adrenaline from running with him and the thick rain in the air definitely made her work for air. She giggled and tilted her chin down and grinned at him. "Again?" she asked in almost a child-like manner, a wide grin plastered across her face. She never wanted this day to end and it wouldn't - at least, not in her heart.

It was a nice break from the rain when they made it under the oak tree. As nice as the rain was, getting shelter from it was the natural reaction to it, and it was nice to take a break from being rained on for a bit. As she leaned back against the tree, he sat on the ground a few metres away from her, watching her happily. "Ever? That's kind of a big call." He was smiling as he said this - if she was able to say something like that, it was a comfort to him to know that she was enjoying it as much as he was. "But I know what you mean - this is so great. I've never found anyone who wants to go out in the rain with me before," he replied happily. He could tell he was going to remember this day for a while. And then she wanted to go out there again! His grin widened and he stood up, reaching for her hand again. He kind of really liked holding it. A lot.

dancing through the fire Laila laughed. "Maybe not ever - but it's definitely up on my list," she replied with a wide grin. She looked down at him as he sat a bit away from her and smiled. Laila grinned again when he got up and reached for her hand again, ready to go at the rain again. "Yay!" she cheered, laughing at herself. She pulled him forward slightly and looked back at him over her shoulder, winking and then turning back. She ran across the grounds with him at her side, the rain pounding on them hard now. A flash of lightening made her jump slightly but she dismissed it and continued to run around, laughing as though she were doing something she wasn't supposed to be doing. Well, that was a bit true. Her mother would probably not have condoned her exuberant and loud behavior, but meh. Laila almost always felt like her parents were trying to 'ground' her and make her more lady-like, but what was the fun in that? She needed people to accept her for who she was instead of trying to make her into someone she wasn't. It seemed like Ollie found her fine the way she was, and for that she found him even more appealing, both as a friend and more.

Ollie smiled at her, thrilled. "Mine, too," he admitted, happy to be sharing it with her. As they ran out in the rain again, he thought about what they were doing and again was struck by just how random and spontaneous it felt, and he liked that a lot. Thinking that just over an hour ago, he had spotted her on the Quidditch pitch, singing to herself. A lot had happened in an hour.
After a while they ran out of the rain back to the boathouse, where they had left the rest of their stuff. He hadn't bothered taking it with him, as who else would have come out here in a thunderstorm? And as he had expected, all of it was still there, including their brooms, his shoes, and his wand (and some of her stuff I'm assuming). They hadn't been gone for long, anyway. "Well, that was awesome. Any suggestions on what we should do next?" he asked her happily.

dancing through the fire Laila enjoyed running around in the rain with Ollie. It was great fun and a great way to start off their friendship, she thought. At last they ran toward the boathouse and Laila laughed as they entered, ringing her hair out once again to the side. She said, "Hmmm," in response to his question while she gathered up her broom, wand, and small bag. Laila wasn't sure what they should do next; she wasn't the most creative person in terms of making plans. That said, she also didn't want to seem boring and not come up with any options for them. After all, if they couldn't find something to do together, Ollie might have gone his separate way and Laila didn't want that at all. She ducked back into the boathouse after grabbing her broom from where it stood and smiled at Ollie. "Well, I'm a bit hungry so...we could grab lunch?" she offered. She then grinned. Just because they were getting lunch didn't mean they had to eat in the Great Hall, right?

Ollie was a little tired from all of the activity they had been doing since they had met. A broom race, a swim, then running around - it was quite active, but he had loved all of it. He watched her as she thought about what to do next, and found himself thinking that he would happily watch her for as long as he could. But then she suggested lunch, and his grumbling stomach definitely was on board with that idea. He also didn't want their alone time to end, though. "Sure, lunch sounds great... but I'm not that keen to head to the Great Hall, you know? I kind of want to keep hanging out with just you," he admitted, blushing a bit. He wasn't at all used to hanging out with girls like this, so felt like he didn't really know what to do.

dancing through the fire Okay, so, up to that point everything was going great. Between the broom race and the lake-diving, plus the running in the rain...and their conversations during those occurrences made the day a simply great day. And that was all well and good, really. But when Ollie opened his mouth and said the words "I kind of want to keep hanging out with just you" he made sure that this was the most memorable day of Laila's life to date. Laila fell victim to the massive grin that found her lips. "I...y-yea, I feel the same," she said nervously. Laila mentally squealed and gave a nervous laugh. "I know the perfect place," she breathed through a tense chest. She moved forward and grabbed Ollie's hand, waiting in front of him for just a moment to meet his eyes and smile widely, before turning around and leading him and their belongings up to the castle. She was so going to keep her spot a secret til they got there, though. That was more fun than spoiling it, she thought.
